Comic books! The pursuit of geeks, nerds and those looking to escape reality. Now hang on a second, is that actually a fair statement? Not all comics are about super heroes and not all comics are the sole purvue of comics geeks! This podcast focuses on one such non-super-hero, sci-fi fantasy comic called Saga which has managed to cross over into mainstream culture and awareness. Saga depicts a husband and wife, Alana and Marko, from long-warring extraterrestrial races, fleeing authorities from both sides of a galactic war as they struggle to care for their daughter, Hazel. It's a great blend of mutiple genres and doesn't shy away from themes such as ethnicity, sexuality, gender, social roles and the treatment of war.     Hot diggedty dog it's the debut episode of an all new podcast that is 10 years too late! That's right, the first comic issue of Saga was published in 2012 and we're only just getting around to discussing it. Doh! That aside, Chief, Emma and Dave are pumped to be doing a read through of this great series and they really want you along for the ride. This episode covers issue 1 of the critically and commercialy acclaimed sci-fi space opera comic created by Brian K Vaughan and Fiona Staples and we sure hit the groud running. There's the introduction of some of the main players in the story, we get to see a man with horns biting an umbilical cord, a cat can tell if you're lying and we even get to witness a man with a televsion for head who has ptsd which is affecting his sexual performance! What more do you need!
