Building off my studio and curatorial practice, Unraveling podcast is a platform to think through the complexities of art, while using readily available resources to unpack complicated ideas related to life. With the help of friends and special guests, each episode will use ceramics, music, books, pop culture and any other source material as springboards to explore topics about identity, culture, fears and ambitions. This show is for everyone, a freshman BFA student, a local high school teacher or your grandma! Let's unravel these ideas together.

Honoring the House of D with Alycia Bright Holland and Lauren Sandler

Is this mic on? Are we officially live with season 2 of Unraveling?? You knowwwww itttt. Hola mi gente!!! Thank you for all the love, support, and patience with launching season 2. I am so excited to release this second episode of the season, featuring Alycia Bright Holland and Lauren Sandler. On this episode, we talk about our collaboration on a multi-layered project that honors the Women's House of Detention (a jail and a prison, located in Greenwich Village, NYC) through a co-created exhibition, play, writing, and now, podcast. Riffing off the book, The Women' House of Detention: A Queer History of a Forgotten Prison by Hugh Ryan, the three of us unpack how the content of this prison reshaped how we think about erasure and inspired this collaboration. Visit the gallery to see the exhibition and the theatre performance before April 27

    Fighting Art Binaries (solo episode)

Wasssssssup mi familia. Lo siento for the long wait but I promise it is worth it. We are back with a new episode on art binaries and the ways we (and the field overall) pin different processes/schools of thought against one another. Throughout this solo episode, we'll unpack the ways I see a few of these binaries show up and possibly unravel why they prevail. In addition, I am trying something new and including Gerald's picks/easter eggs at the end of each episode. Enjoy 3 As always, thank you for your continuous love and support. HUGE THANK YOU TO MY INCREDIBLE PATRONS ON PATREON. THANK YOU FOR BELIEVING IN ME.

Whatsuppppp party peopleeeee. I hope you all are doing well and had a chance to catch up on all the episodes from SEASON ONE. I am back with an episode single, a string of episodes i will release in between season one and two. This episode is truly a delight. A multi-generational exchange between three other artists and myself. Adero Willard, Sana Musasama, and Shea Burke, three talented amazing Black artists who were featured in the NCECA exhibition Clay holds water, Water holds Memory. Adero invited me to be apart of the programming of this amazing exhibition and curate a small conversation during the conference in Cincinnati. Throughout this episode, we touch on our entries into clay, our respective challenges and what it means to seek connection withe other Black women and non-binary ceramics artists. General content warning, this is definitely a tear jerker episode.  To learn more about any of the artists in this episode or the featured exhibition, follow them on Instagram. @aderowillard @sanamusasama @sheaburke_ @claywatermemory

Trials and Triumphs PART TWO, Black Panther 2 feat. Marcus Lane

As promised, here is part two of Trials and Triumphs, the last episode of the first season. *sad face* Building on the analysis of part one, Marcus and I go deeper into breaking down overarching ideas, such as the complexities of Afro-futurism, the eerie soft hum of white supremacy, and the genuine desire for queer identities in the Wakandan/Talacón worlds. With so many hopes we have for the franchise, we are eager to see what is to comes next from Ryan Coogler and the entire team behind Black Panther. You can stream Black Panther 2 on Disney+ starting January 20th! To learn more about Marcus, follow him on Instagram @4momentz

This conversation is split up into two 1hr shows, giving a full break down of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and the many themes that show up in the overall franchise. Messy determination feat. Mar Schneider

Tender and messy, what a perfect way to close•start out the year. In this episode, I had the pleasure of being in conversation with one of my best friends Mar. Inspired by my meditations during Kwanzaa this past year, this episode wrestles with the messiness of determining oneself and how art (and its community) has been a space to figuring it all out. With the help of Mar, this episode captures how in community and unity, we find language in others we align with to help with our own self discovery.  Learn more about Mar’s expansive practice by following them on Instagram @low.magnetic.zap
