LIGHT Impact Season 3 Episode 1 | Double Agent - Tyler Renard

Welcome to Season 3 of LIGHT Impact! Season 3 kicks off with Nick Esayian sitting down with Tyler Renard, Regional Sales Manager at LIGHT Helmets and a guy who has seen the equipment room from just about every angle there is. Tyler got his start as a student manager for the football program at the University of Arkansas while earning his degree in sports management. From there it was an equipment internship at South Florida, a return to Fayetteville as a graduate assistant that turned into Assistant Director of Equipment Operations, then Assistant AD of Equipment Operations at UTSA overseeing gear and budgets across all 25 teams, and finally Director of Football Equipment at Auburn. He joined LIGHT in February of 2025. Nick and Tyler get into what the job actually looks like behind the scenes, the habits and instincts that separate good equipment managers from great ones, and how the role has changed as technology reshapes helmets, fitting, and player safety. Tyler also talks about his work with the Athletic Equipment Managers Association, where he serves as head proctor of the AEMA certification exam and sits on the Certification Exam Committee. LIGHT Impact Season 2 | One Man Army - Joe Rafter

In this episode of LIGHT Impact, we sit down with Joe Rafter — the man who took on the California legislature and won. A lifelong youth football advocate and former coach, Joe earned the nickname "one-man army" after leading the charge to defeat Proposition AB 1, a bill that would have banned youth football across the entire state of California. Refusing to let the sport he loves be stripped from the next generation, Joe co-founded a coalition of passionate coaches and football staff, took their fight to the Capitol, and didn't stop until they had not only killed the ban, but replaced it with smart, structured safety guidelines built specifically to benefit young players. This is a story about more than football. It's about what happens when one person refuses to sit down and give up.  Joe is now CEO and President of the National Football Alliance (NFA), an advocacy organization dedicated to improving the tackle football experience through safety research, education, and strengthening the integrity of the game.
