Am I Contributing to My Own Burnout?

Are you contributing to your own burnout? Okay, this might be an uncomfortable question. Property management is demanding. Residents interrupt you. Your team needs you. Vendors need answers. Reports are due. And somehow that “quick question” turns into 45 minutes you definitely did not have. Sometimes our circumstances really do suck. But what happens when the circumstances aren't the only thing exhausting us? In this episode of Addicted to Busy, we're looking at some of the ways we unknowingly contributed to our own burnout—from automatically saying yes to everything, to procrastinating on uncomfortable tasks, skipping breaks, scrolling before bed, and tying self-worth a little too closely to how much we accomplish. This isn't an episode about blaming yourself for being burned out. It's about getting curious about the pieces you can control. What’s inside this episode... - Why saying yes too quickly can quietly overload your schedule - The boundaries you may need to set with yourself - Why procrastination might have more to do with overwhelm than laziness - How I use time-blocking when my brain would rather avoid a task - Why your nighttime scrolling might be keeping your brain at work - The danger of tying your self-worth to your productivity - Why temporarily working long hours is very different from chronically overworking Because sometimes burnout requires a change in our circumstances. And sometimes it starts with noticing the little ways we're making an already difficult job even harder on ourselves. So here's the question I want you to sit with: Am I contributing to my own burnout? And if the answer is yes, what’s one small habit you could start shifting this week? Lessons From Late Nights: The Art of Sustainable Productivity

Welcome back to another edition of Addicted to Busy! This week’s episode is all about navigating new opportunities, breaking old patterns, and stepping into growth—without falling into burnout. Whether you’re taking on a bigger role, juggling more responsibilities, or just feeling stretched thin, this conversation is for you. Taking on a challenge like this one can be exciting, but it also comes with the risk of slipping back into unhealthy habits. This week, I’m reflecting on the lessons I’ve learned about balance, boundaries, and why growth isn’t a one-time event—it’s a constant process. What's in this episode: Breaking the Burnout CycleBurnout doesn’t happen overnight. It sneaks up on you through a series of small, unchecked habits. I’m sharing how to spot the signs early and make changes before you hit the wall. Why Reflection Is KeyYou can’t grow if you don’t take the time to learn from your past. I’ll share how journaling and seasonal recaps have helped me see where I’ve struggled before—and how I’m planning to do things differently this time. The Power of a Great Night’s SleepIt might sound simple, but sleep is the foundation for everything else. I’m breaking down why sleep impacts everything from your decision-making to your leadership skills, and how I’ve learned to protect my rest, even when life gets busy. Here’s a little teaser: What’s the one habit I used to overlook that has completely transformed how I approach work and life? (Hint: it’s not fancy—it’s foundational.) I’ll share how this one thing became my secret weapon against burnout. Don’t wait until it’s too late to prioritize yourself. Big goals and busy seasons can still feel sustainable if you start with intention and build small habits that support your energy. This episode will help you reflect, reset, and reimagine how you approach your most demanding days. P.S. If you’re gearing up for a big challenge, this is your reminder: you don’t have to have it all figured out. Growth is a process—and that’s exactly what makes it so rewarding.
