Text to Task: Simplifying Education

Gargi Sarkar

Welcome to TEXT TO TASK: Simplifying Education. I'm Gargi — Fulbright Teaching Scholar, published author with TESOL International Press, and a global digital leader reimagining how we teach and learn in the 21st century. This podcast started in a bedroom. No studio, no production house — just a deep belief that education has the power to transform lives, and that the right conversation at the right moment can change everything. From that small personal space, TEXT TO TASK: Simplifying Education has grown into a community heard across 50 countries worldwide. Each episode brings real stories from classrooms, bold research-backed ideas, and practical strategies you can take straight into your teaching — through conversations, solo explorations, and insights from the field. We cross borders, challenge assumptions, and celebrate the kind of learning that doesn't stop at walls. Wherever you are in the world — welcome. This space was made for you.

War Can Destroy a School. Not a Child's Story

That's what a teacher is really saying when they show up to class during war. Not just let's learn today, but your future still matters. In this episode of TEXT to TASK: Simplifying Education, Dr. Maryam Sharifian of James Madison University talks about what teaching looks like in a war zone. Originally from Iran, she has conducted research with teachers in active war zones, including Syria and Afghanistan, that raises some important points to ponder. Listen to the full episode — free on Spotify & Apple Podcasts. About the speaker - Dr. Maryam Sharifian is an Associate Professor of Early Childhood Education and Executive Director of the Center for Advancement of Research in Education (CARE™) at James Madison University.
