    Reviewing The Jay Dyer vs Jonathan Shelley Debate on Tradition vs Sola Scriptura

    Around 10 days ago, Eastern Orthodox apologist, Jay Dyer, and NIFB Pastor Jonathan Shelley had, what was called, a debate on Tradition vs Sola Scriptura on the Modern-Day Debate channel. I watched it so you don’t have to.I want to make it clear that I was wanting Shelley to do well. While he says that Jonathan Burris is a piece of scum, fake pastor that hates Jesus and hates the word of God and best thing Jonathan Burris can do is to die and go to hell, I sincerely wanted him to defend Sola Scriptura. Needless to say, I was left wanting.Shelley was ill-prepared and out of his league by an order of magnitude against Jay Dyer. These NIFB pastors like Shelley are comfortable inside the comfort zones of their church's echo chamber where they control the bully pulpit with dictatorial authority, but in the scholarly arena, Shelley proved himself unequipped from a scholarly perspective, and absent the demeanor to go toe-to-toe with someone as arrogant as himself, but much more steeped in Church history and apologetics. I am not a Dyer fan.     Do Modern Versions Delete The Truth in Luke 9:56?

    I have a video on my channel from a couple years ago where I address this meme. Well, halfway. In that video, I addressed the controversy over Matthew 18:11. I had planned to do another video on the other verse mentioned on that graphic, but I never got around to it. And a few weeks ago, someone called me on it.     Does the Ethiopian Bible Preserve the True Words of God that have been abandoned by the Western Church?

    A friend sent me a lengthy Facebook post and asked me to respond it. It was a post by a “Pastor Michael Wells”. There is no about information on the account and it looks to have been created in the last few weeks. There is no information on where he is a pastor, and no other substantive reason to think that this account is real. Pastor Michael Wells’ account seems to be a fake account created to pitch “The Most Complete Ethiopian Bible”.

    Jeremiah 19:5 - The Calvinism Killer

    Is Jeremiah 19:5 the Calvinism Killer? Many on social media say so. And we know what scholars there are on social media. Let's take "Paul (Not the Apostle)" for example: "Calvinists teach that the freewill of man cannot go against the counsel of God. Wrong: They have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings unto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake it, neither came it into my mind: Jer 19:5 KJV" There are countless examples of this verse being used as the silver bullet to Calvinism. All you have to do is look at almost any response to me, Ron Henzel, or any other Calvinist active on X or Facebook. Well, that's it boys. Wrap it up and close up shop. It's been a fun ride. I guess we wouldn't have wasted so much time if we had only read the Bible. If we had just read, we would have realized what "Adam East" has told us. That the Bible is full of times that God did not get what he desired. So, is God sovereign or not? Anti-Calvinists like Leighton Flowers and his followers love to assert that Jeremiah 19:5 absolutely destroys Sproul's statement that there are no maverick molecules. Are there? Is God truly sovereign or not? Is Calvinism conquered with this one verse? Let's take a look.

    Out of Egypt I Called My Son

    Throughout the month of December, I have been preaching a series of messages related to the first coming of our Lord. I did something similar last year, but this year I wanted to focus on some of the more obscure passages and help people gain a better understanding of the profundity of certain phrases or passages that we often just skip right over. But the marvel is truly in the detail.This past Sunday at Sophia, we looked at the well-known phrase, “Out of Egypt Have I Called My Son” from Matthew 2:15. I want to take just a few moments to show you how wonderful that statement is and to draw out just how significant this simple statement is.Matthew has several examples like this one in it. Something that sounds simple, but is truly amazing when you begin to study it. So, what is the big deal about this phrase? Joseph took Jesus to Egypt until Herod the Great died. That’s no big deal. Is it? Is it? It is a big deal. It is such a big deal that it is a common theme throughout the Old Testament. As we investigate It, you are going to see a few things. The biggest is this truth: the New Testament is concealed in the Old Testament and the Old Testament is revealed in the New. Let’s look at it together.

    The Stigma of Calvinism

    I want to talk about the stigma around Calvinism. For years, when I was asked if I was a Calvinist, I qualified it in some way. I would ask , what do you mean by Calvinism? I would say things like, it depends on who defines it and how it is defined. I have often said, if you define Calvinism, I may want nothing to do with it. If you let me define it, or rather, if you let the Canons of Dort define it, I am a Calvinist. There is a Jeopardy-themed meme that asks the question, “Name something you can describe in detail that almost everyone agrees with, until you say its name”. The answer, of course, is: “What is Calvinism?” For this reason, there are many “closet Calvinists”; people who affirm the Doctrines of Grace but don’t want to admit it because of how people may react. Others repudiate it because they believe it to be some exaggerated boogeyman that is a far stretch from what it truly is.

    Is Donald Trump Saved? He Says No, But IFB Pastor Jeff Fugate Says Yes

    A couple days ago, i almost dislocated my jaw as it dropped so hard upon hearing IFB pastor, Jeff Fugate, respond to the recent comments made by President Donald Trump regarding his doubts that he is going to heaven. There are several different occasions where President Trump spoke about getting to heaven and how it just might be possible if he were able to secure the toughest peace deals and end the wars around the world. Most recently, Peter Doocy was traveling on Air Force One when the President had a gaggle with members of the White House Press Corp. Peter Doocy asked President Trump if his recent accomplishments had bolstered his chances of going to heaven. Here is the relevant portion of that exchange.
