    Historian and experiencer Stephanie returns to explore New Orleans voodoo, folklore, and the strange beings that appear in paranormal encounters across cultures. Historian, researcher, and experiencer Stephanie returns to Tinfoil Tales to explore the strange overlap between folklore, history, and modern paranormal encounters. Growing up with unexplained experiences eventually led Stephanie into academic research surrounding spiritualism, New Orleans voodoo, mediumship, folklore, and the historical accounts of people who claimed to interact with spirits and entities that weren't necessarily human. We discuss the strange beings that appear throughout different cultures, from fairies, goblins and little people to modern reports of pale crawlers, black-eyed kids, aliens and other humanoids. Are these completely different creatures, or have people throughout history been encountering the same phenomenon and simply interpreting it through the culture and beliefs of their time? The conversation also ventures into Kentucky's extensive cave systems, the Hopkinsville Goblins, Bigfoot, Dogman, ancient giants, thought forms, demons, alien abductions and the striking similarities between modern encounter reports and centuries-old stories of people being taken by the Fae. Stephanie also shares one of her most disturbing personal encounters. While attending college, she encountered what appeared to be a young girl standing at the top of a staircase after something physically pushed her down the steps. The child looked almost completely normal, except for her unusually dark eyes and a mouth filled with small, pointed teeth. The activity appeared connected to a string of beads her roommate had secretly placed beneath Stephanie's bed. We also discuss haunted objects, why museums may contain far more paranormal activity than most visitors realize, and the difficulty of labeling every unexplained entity as either a ghost or a demon.     Ep. 278: The Sleeper Agent: Lyme Disease & Biological Warfare

    Author and researcher A.W. Finnegan joins the show to discuss his book The Sleeper Agent: The Rise of Lyme Disease, Chronic Illness, and the Great Imitator Antigens of Biological Warfare. After his own experience with Lyme disease led him down a years-long research path, Finnegan began digging into the history of biological warfare, Nazi virologist Erich Traub, Project Paperclip, Plum Island, and Cold War experiments involving ticks, insects, migratory birds, and infectious disease. Throughout the conversation, Finnegan lays out his argument that the history of Lyme disease may be far more complicated than the commonly accepted story, pointing to declassified documents, scientific research, government programs, and the concept of immune tolerance as pieces of a much larger puzzle.     Former crop circle maker and researcher Citizen D returns to Tinfoil Tales to discuss his new book, It Can't Be People: Voices from the Inner Circle, and the strange experiences reported by the people actually responsible for creating some of the world's most elaborate crop formations. D openly acknowledges that humans create many of the crop circles attributed to UFOs and extraterrestrials. But after collecting accounts from trusted circle makers, he believes explaining who physically flattened the crops may only uncover a much larger mystery. We discuss circle makers dreaming about designs before they appear, different teams independently creating nearly identical patterns, unexplained additions appearing in formations after the creators leave, strange orbs seemingly inspecting completed circles, and overwhelming feelings of fear that have caused experienced teams to abandon formations before they were finished.
