Insights from the Roof of the World: Conversations on Tibet is a series of podcasts and conversations by FNVA which seeks a deeper understanding of developments in Tibet under Chinese occupation with the policies of the Communist Party of China seeking to eliminate Tibet’s distinct cultural identity and history. Listeners will gain insights to 'ground realities' in Tibet through conversations with Tibetans, Western and Asian scholars, writers, China watchers, environmentalists and security experts in Tibet and hear aspirations of young Tibetans, some who have undertaken perilous journeys to escape Chinese occupation. The Foundation for Non-Violent Alternatives (FNVA) is a Delhi-based think-tank tracking developments in Tibet, China, and the Himalayan region & their implications for India's security.

In this episode, we engage with Geshe Lharampa Thabkhe Lodroe la. Geshe Thabkhe la is a Tibetan monk at the Sera Jey Monastery. He is a Tenzin Gyatso Science Scholar. Geshe Thabkhe shares with us the life as a monk and how it is very academic and vigorous with each day ending in an evening debate. In this podcast, Geshe Thabkhe la further shares his journey in learning science which began in 2004 through the initiative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. He also emphasises how through such engages and developments in the monastic setup, there are various opportunities now. Similarly asserting that the key tenets of studying Buddhist Philosophy and preserving Tibetan language remains central.

He has created a plethora of contents on social media highlighting Tibet, its unique culture and its current plight. All of which showcases Tibet in the virtual space, which a the hub of exchange in the digital age we live in. In this podcast, Yeshi Jinsel shares with us why he left his 9-5 corporate work and what drew him towards content creation and establishing Khoe. He emphasises how he gets inspiration and motivation from contents created from inside Tibet especially those calling for the preservation of Tibetan language and culture.

In this episode, we engage with Choekyi Lhamo la, who currently is a Tibetan exile journalist and was a recipient of the prestigious Tibetan Scholarship Program (TSP) in 2023, studying journalism at UC Berkeley. She has written, interviewed and reported extensively on the exile Tibetan community particularly during her time as a reporter at Phayul Media. In this podcast, Choekyi Lhamo shares her experience of what drew her into journalism and her experience growing up in the Tibetan Settlement of Dhondupling commonly known as Clement Town among Tibetans. She further shed lights on her experience in studying at UC Berkeley and the plethora of things she learnt from American community there. She shares with us what her aspirations are moving forward and the Tibetan Sweater selling community, where she will be heading to support her family.

In this episode, we engage with Tenzin Norzin la, who is currently the National V-TAG Coordinator of Australia. She is a Tibetan youth leader in Australia, and besides promoting Tibetan Advocacy, she also teaches Tibetan and Drayen to Tibetans in Australia. In this podcast, Tenzin Norzin shares her experience of how she got involved in Tibetan advocacy. Highlighting the critical role that meetings like the International Tibet Youth Forum and Voluntary Tibet Advocacy Group (V-TAG), organised by the Central Tibetan Administration, play in the lives of many young Tibetans. She further emphasised her recent trip to India, where she took part in the Ghoton (90th Birthday celebration of His Holiness the Dalai Lama) and other engagements. All of which made her extra motivated to continue her advocacy on Tibet in Australia, especially with the policy makers, while continuing the grassroots engagements.
