What if California seceded from the United States? If it did, what would happen? Would it usher in a new era of peace and prosperity? Or plunge the US into a new civil war?
This is The Last Resort, a new documentary podcast following the rise, fall, and rebirth of CAL EXIT: the campaign for Californian Independence.
It’s a story about a dream for a new progressive utopia on the West Coast. It’s about the fight for America’s future. And it’s also a tale of two friends who started on the political fringe and ended up in the middle of a still-unfolding global criminal conspiracy involving the FBI and Russian Intelligence.
Coming October 18th from Interval Presents and Awfully Nice. Narrated by Xiuhtezcatl.

Customer Reviews
Good Entry Point into Calexit
The show covers broad strokes into some of the many factors, historical backdrop and potential implications of what a secession would look like.
A couple of things I want to remark on some of the reviews.
Some of the one star reviews clearly show trolling behavior. Those “people” didn’t even listen to the show, but through their bias gave it a one star review in aims to sway others from listening.
The shows offers personal interviews from the people behind the calexit movement. It’s meant to be a character study and offer some perspective on the motivations of the people, along with his own, on what Californians feel about calexit. Including conservative AND liberal takes.
Yes, the narrator is of indigenous background, musician and activist. He mentions it in the first show and makes mention of production credits at the end of each show, which if you know about documentaries and shows, give production credits to those involved. Not sure why others “complained” about that.
Yes, it isn’t a thorough overview of every single line item of calexit. The narrator makes mention that content surrounding the very particulars already exists.
This show is meant to offer a personal take, into the social backdrop and the motivations of the people behind the movement.
Yes, there is sprinkle of personal views AND facts. The narrator does not try to hide that. He also sites his sources within the shows so you know where he is getting his info from.
The show is a nice springboard into this fascinating and divisive subject matter.
Well done.
