    Broadway Block - Episode 232 featuring Lydia Pirner

    After an electric goalie fight between Igor Shesterkin and Jacob Markstrom, the New York Rangers extend their winning streak at home to three games, as they continue to find ways down the stretch to leave feeling good about their performance. As much as I'm rooting for some lotto luck, it is nice to see them not lose sight and put up strong games, albeit a little too late and against some teams that are also struggling. On today's episode, we are joined by Lydia Pirner, a New York Rangers beat reporter for WFUV Sports.     Broadway Block - Episode 231

    As we reach the end of the season, with playoffs hopes offically over with the loss to the Maple Leafs, we chat through this episode about the best usage of time for the final 10 games of the season. The Rangers have recently signed Drew Fortescue, a young and exciting prospect that could perhaps make his NHL debut sooner than later, with question marks surrounding the current d-core and Drury's willingness to move on from some of them. Adam Sykora made his NHL debut against the Leafs, and didn't look uncomfortable either. In my opinion, it's much better to have him play these games than someone like Sheary or Parssinen. And rookie goalie from Hartford, Dylan Garand, made his first NHL start the other night and looked good doing it, despite the shootout loss to the Jets. The Rangers are past moral victories, they're past the point of having hope come from the standings, what matters now as the season draws to a close is that they figure out what they have in the locker room, and what's waiting for them in the minor ranks.     Broadway Block - Episode 230

    The New York Rangers are a puzzling team. It took them the better part of the season to string together 4 wins, win a back to back, or manage to produce really anything to get the fanbase excited. Since the break, the team is 6-3-2 following the loss on Wednesday night to the devils, which doesn't exactly sound amazing, but if that was scaled over the course of an 82 game season, it would be good for 102 points, and put them comfortably in the playoff mix. If there's any silver lining, Igor Shesterkin has been nothing short of incredible, the power play is clicking, and the top line of Mika Zibanejad, Alexis Lafreniere, and Gabe Perreault is simply a treat to watch. In just the last 9 games, the three has 34 combined for points and has connected for some incredible plays, demonstrating amazing chemistry. When the games don't matter and the points don't either, it's nice that there's at least something to watch, even without a winning result. If they win? I'm happy to watch. If they lose?     Broadway Block - Episode 229

    The New York Rangers sure picked the worst time of the season to start playing good hockey. Since the Olympic break, the team has just one regulation loss, earning points in 6 of their last 7, with back-to-back wins by four goal margins. While these wins haven't necessarily come against the league's best teams, they certainly aren't taking their lotto standings into consideration before the game. The dynamic line of Mika Zibanejad centering Gabe Perreault and Alexis Lafreniere has been white hot, recording 14 points in a 24 hour span, combining for 20 total points in their 4 games together. It serves as amazing benchmark for the potential the Rangers youth has in their system, and it doesn't hurt to have some fun hockey to watch, regardless of if it's too little too late. With a team comfortably outside of the playoff hunt, minus an unprecedented 19 game win streak, these last few weeks of the season can be extremely helpful for the organization moving forward to give them a better idea of who they are and what they have.     Broadway Block - Episode 228

    With just days leading up to the trade deadline, the Rangers receive blow after blow in what has been an absolutely miserable season. After finally getting Igor Shesterkin and Adam fox back from injury, JT Miller has been committed to IR and Fox in unsure about his future with the team. We unpack his initial comments, and the decision to double down on those statements even after being given an opportunity to spell it out to the fans whether he truly wants to stay here. As we near closer to Friday's deadline, it raises even more questions than simply "who will be here after this week?" or "what are we going to get back?.     Broadway Block - Episode 227

    With the NHL olympic break officially over, we anxiously look forward to Rangers hockey returning, even if the team is solidly out of a playoff picture. The final stretch for the Rangers leaves a lot of question marks, especially in the wake of team USA capturing gold for the first time in 46 years. We briefly touch on the excitement of the games themselves, and segue into how key piece of the puzzle Vincent Trocheck may have only elevated his value through his showing in Milan. A key cog for the Rangers, who was left off the USA roster may also make his return tonight. Adam Fox, a no doubt cornerstone to the franchise, can prove the haters wrong in the waining months of the season and help cement himself back into the conversation for one of the league's best defenders.     With a handful of games left in the Winter Olympics, the NHL season resuming signals one last important detail for the Rangers - the trade deadline. Once the deadline passes we'll have a proper idea of the intentions of Drury and the timeline in mind to get back to competitive hockey.     Broadway Block - Episode 225

    With the NHL season on pause, we enter not only the roster freeze but the Olympic break while the New York Rangers currently hold the 3rd best odds at the number one overall pick in the upcoming NHL entry draft. Outside of some luck to get the 1st pick, which I don't think many Rangers fans are confident they could actually secure some franchise altering talent, we chat in this episode about other teams in a similar position that may be worth chatting with to drum up a potential trade. The state of the upcoming UFA pool has been long discussed, and the Rangers brass needs to look elsewhere to improve this team if they wish to turn it around sooner.
