S3 E14 How to talk to people about Jesus

Have you ever felt awkward or unsure how to talk to people about your relationship with Jesus? You know the great commission says to go into the nations and make disciples. Still, you're stuck on your lack of qualifications or worried about ending up in a debate? Miss and Rachel discuss how to overcome that and some simple ways to share our love for Jesus with those around us.      Show notes: Start with your story Evangelizing is “One better telling another beggar where to get bread.” DT Niles Mark 3 Jesus told his brand new disciples to preach the good news. Which says it’s something we can do without having formal schooling. “Then he appointed twelve of them and called them his apostles. They were to accompany him, and he would send them out to preach, giving them authority to cast out demons.” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭3‬:‭14‬-‭15‬ ‭NLT‬‬ What are my qualifications?  At the end of the day I’m qualified BC I am a wretch who needs a Savior. That’s all we need. Paul didn’t even walk with Jesus personally! He started at least 14 churches (each church was a city!) wrote 13 or 14 of the 27 NT Books. 1 Peter 3:15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, Eph 2:10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.   Challenge: Ask God to ease your mind and speak through you when you’re supposed to be sharing your love for Jesus.

S3 E13 When our flesh flares up

Miss and Rachel discuss what it looks like to live in our flesh, by the Spirit, and what to do when our sin nature flares up. They describe what that looks and feels like in their lives and throw out ways God has helped them navigate toward living by the Spirit more. With all things pointing to Scripture, they challenge their listeners to never stay in our flesh when God calls us out of it. Show notes We need to recognize it and call it out Roman’s 7:5 When we were controlled by our old nature, sinful desires were at work within us, and the law aroused these evil desires that produced a harvest of sinful deeds, resulting in death. Galatians 5:17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. Galatians 5:24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Colossians 3:1-3 Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. 2 Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. 3 For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God Galatians 5:16 So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.  Romans 8:2-8 And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. 3 The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins. 4 He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit. 5 Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. 6 So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. 7 For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. 8 That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God. 1 John 1:9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. We need to turn away from it (repent) Matthew 3:2 Repent of your sins and turn to God, Romans 2:4 Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin? Acts 3:19 Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out 2 Peter 3:9 - The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
