Episode 102 - Dan Lavery (Tonic, The Fray, True)

Dan Lavery is a New Jersey based multi instrumentalist musician, most prominently known for his role as the bassist in 90's Alt/Rock band 'Tonic' - whose breakout hit 'If You Could Only See' was recognized as rock radio's most-played song of 1997. Originally part of the band 'True', Dan decided to relocate to Los Angeles in the mid 90's to try and further his career. A decision that ultimately ended up being life changing for him. Dan talks to me about this, touring the world, his stint with 'The Fray', following ones passion and even his key roles on management teams for artists like Adam Lambert and Joe Jonas. Episode 101 - Clem Cattini (The Tornados, Lou Reed, Cliff Richard)

For today's episode I thought I'd share an archived interview from around twelve years ago, that I did with session drumming legend - Clem Cattini. Based in Stoke Newington, UK - Clem Cattini is an English drummer who was not only a member of 'The Tornados' but so prominent in the 50's, 60's and 70's that he is actually regarded as one of the most prolific drummers in UK recording history, appearing on hundreds of recordings by artists like Cliff Richard, Lou Reed, Marc Bolan, The Kinks, Herman's Hermits, The Yardbirds and Tom Jones. Clem and I talk about his work with a young Jimmy Page, how hard it was to get lessons back in the day, songwriting and of course his legendary drumming career - where he played on over 40 UK number one singles. For more information on Clem or his work, please search for him across all socials or google. Episode 99 - Brian Tichy (Led By Vultures, Gene Simmons Band, Whitesnake)

On today’s episode of the show, I’m joined by the frontman of 'Led By Vultures', multi-instrumentalist, and world-renowned drummer — Brian Tichy. For decades, Brian has been known as one of rock’s most respected drummers, performing alongside some of the biggest names in music including Ozzy Osbourne, Billy Idol, Whitesnake, and Slash. He’s also currently a member of the Gene Simmons Solo Band. With his new project, 'Led By Vultures', Brian is stepping into an entirely new chapter — taking on the role of guitarist, singer, songwriter, and bandleader. In this conversation, we dive into what it means to lead a band from the front, the creative challenges that come with stepping outside one's comfort zone, getting lost in practice, constantly pushing yourself as a musician and of course, the story behind how 'Led By Vultures' came about and where the project may be headed. For more information on Brian Tichy or his work, please search for him across all socials or visit www.briantichy.com.For further information on Travis Marc or 'Musicians-Mentor' website, please visit www.musicians-mentor.com As usual, thanks for checking out the channel and if you're getting anything useful from my content, please feel free to comment, like, share and subscribe, thank you. Episode 97 - Lenny Castro (Toto, RHCP, Fleetwood Mac)

Today on the show I speak with percussion legend - Lenny Castro. Lenny is an American based musician who at this point in his career is probably one of the most recorded percussionists in musical history, having played on hundreds (if not thousands of records). Some of the artists he has worked with include 'The Rolling Stones', The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Adele, Toto, Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2, Elton John and even one of my absolute favorites, The New Radicals - to name just a few. In addition to his work with all these incredible artists Lenny also recently started putting out music of his own. His debut record entitled 'Hands Of Silk' is an absolute masterclass on percussion tone which I can't recommend enough. During our conversation, Lenny and I talk about his initial introductions to music, his love of groove, AI, music careers, touring and even his relationship with the late great Jeff Porcaro. For more information on Lenny Castro or his work, please search for him across all socials or visit www.hardhnds.com. Episode 96 - The Daywalkers (Alex MacDonald + Janson Lohmeyer)

Today on the show I speak with 'The Daywalkers' band leaders - Alex Harris MacDonald (vocals/washboard) + Janson Lohmeyer keyboardist/vocals. This was a tough interview for me to post because unfortunately Janson Lohmeyer tragically passed away, only a few days after we had this conversation. I wrestled with myself as to whether or not I should still put it out, but ultimately decided I would - as I believe it could serve as a nice reminder to all of us that knew Janson, as to what a kind soul he truly was. Over the decades 'The Daywalkers' (who fuse Louisiana Roots Music with Cajun, Pop and Zydeco) have developed a reputation as a high quality live band, attracting visiting from all over the world to see the group while visiting the city of New Orleans. Among many notable accolades, the band have released three albums of original material and individually, Janson has appeared on releases by Adam Duritz (Counting Crows), Lucinda Williams and Susan Cowsill. While Alex has held residencies at various Blue Note Jazz Venues with Joe Sample in Japan, has been inducted into the Zydeco Blues Trailride Hall Of Fame class and toured extensively with Louisiana favorite Dwayne Dopsie. During our conversation, we talk about the Bourbon Street scene, hurricane Katrina, musicians healthcare, touring and an array of other topics. For more information on 'The Daywalkers' please visit www.thedaywalkersneworleans.com or visit the band on Facebook. Once again, my deepest condolences to the Lohmeyer family and all of Janson's bandmates and family for the massive loss experienced by his passing.
