THIS is how you cover gravel cycling. A cycling journalist I respect for the most part has been complaining about how boring it is to cover gravel racing, but he’s making the mistake of thinking that it can be turned into a spectator sport when these things we call “races” exist entirely for the participants. I think event directors would do well to prohibit media coverage except from participants. I don’t want to know who finished on the podium unless the journalists blabbing about it was in contention. And if the UCI had an ounce of integrity, they’d give top honors to the mid pack rider who spins the best yarn over post-ride fizzies. Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah, podcast good.
