    S4 | Episode 39: Why Do Bad Things Happen? (And Why We Still Choose Hope)

    Why do bad things happen — and if God is real and good, why does He let them? This week on That Sounds Holy, we're continuing last episode's conversation on disappointment and unanswered prayers by tackling the question every Christian eventually gets asked (or asks themselves): if God is good, why does He allow bad things to happen? We talk about what we'd tell a kid asking this question for the first time, why "God allows it because He loves us" isn't a cop-out, and why it's actually okay — even healthy — to rant to God about it. From there, the conversation gets personal: grief over what's happening in the Philippines right now, a roadside accident that changed how we think about selfishness and self-focus, confession booth wisdom about righteous anger, and why loving our own country is something we're still learning to do. It's not a neat, wrapped-up answer.     Minsan hindi tayo sinasagot ni Lord — or, yung sagot isn't what we want. Bakit nga ba ang hirap tanggapin pag "hindi pa" or "huwag muna" ang sagot ni Lord? In this episode, we're getting real about unanswered prayers — the ones we've prayed for years, the ones we're scared to even pray for, and the ones we didn't realize were already being answered, just... not the way we asked for it (yung mga "kaya pala" moments na ma-rerealize mo na lang in hindsight). ________________________________________________________ We talk about: - Six years of wrestling with a calling before finally saying 'yes' - A 7-year relationship that ended, and what "kaya pala" looked like on the other side - The default emotions we run to (crying, distracting, controlling, avoiding) when God doesn't answer the way we want - Why "unanswered prayer" might not really exist - The soil, the manure, and the God who uses our mess as fertilizer for the fruit he wants to grow in us This one's vulnerable, honest, and hopefully a reminder that if you're still waiting on something you've prayed for again and again — you are not alone, and it might not be "no."
