    Tis the season for platforms to announce a bunch of new changes. Instagram and LinkedIn certainly did! Instagram:Navigation is changing in February: The “Create” Button will move from the top navigation to the bottom center (replacing Reels). Reels will move to replace Shop in the bottom navigation.Instagram Trends Report 2023 is released!!Quiet mode is launched, allowing you to set no notifications on a specific timer or schedule.     Canva features, TikTok Ad-revenue sharing, Facebook communities + more! | New on the Internet | October 2022 Edition

    New on the Internet is a monthly reporting of all the new social media features and how they impact your brand. In October 2022: CanvaDocsWhiteboardsWebsitesVideo background removerAI image creator - texttoimage.appPresentation toolsPrint optionsCreator & developer market placesCommunity AwardsMy thoughts: Group collaborative design tools like Canva Docs, Whiteboard, and the more robust presentation tools are indication that Canva is really pushing to become THE space for visual project management and co-creation. It's interesting to me because it seems like it has the potential to create more visually stunning outputs than Google workspaces, while offering a way better collaboration opportunity than the Adobe Suite. The design tools (video background remover, AI image creation, websites) really focus one user experience, something Canva has long done really well! InstagramMULTIPLE LINKS IN BIO!! I have this feature on @couleecraft and let me say, I love it.Profile song? 2006 Myspace anyone?Facebook event sharing via Instagram for Facebook Group AdminsMy thoughts: I really really love having multiple bio links on my craft account, but I'm curious to know when this feature will roll out to a wider audience? Facebook Group & Community tools galore!Admin toolsReels in GroupsMore Instagram integrationsExpanded group profile optionsFlagged by Facebook override for some admins in some casesMy thoughts: This is a massive community building focused development. The major downfall of Facebook as a community platform is their unwillingness to give access to the really critical data that makes a community so useful to a brand. I do not anticipate there to be a lot of cases where a Group Admin can actually successfully override a "Flagged by Facebook" post. LinkedIn Company pages updates:Link stickers for visual section of postPost templatesPinned commentsPage commitments (DEI, Work life balance etc)My thoughts: Are folks actually using templates on LinkedIn to create content? That's a feature I've never used. I'm also curious how the link stickers will function on desktop, since that seems like a really mobile-focused feature. Again, another feature I didn't know didn't already exist: pinned comments for company posts. TikTokTikTok Pulse Ad-revenue sharing plan goes live! 50% of Pulse ad revenues to the creator of the video content next to which a Pulse ad is displayed.Photomode is basically just Instagram Carousels Linktree partnership allows up to six videos to be embeddedMy thoughts: I'm interested to see the ad-revenue sharing development and if/how it impacts content creation in the specific categories impacted by the Pulse program. Photos on TikTok make me laugh. All platforms are always trying to be everything at once.  My soapbox about Linktree: it is useful, but if you have your own website you should definitely create your own links page to use as a social link-in-bio url.  ________________________ I'm Carolyn!
