    "Who Needs Friends?" // Friend-ology - Week 1

"Who Needs Friends?" Friend-ology - Week 1 Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. "That's Not Me Anymore" // Trauma Response - Week 5

"That's Not Me Anymore" Trauma Response - Week 5 2 Corinthians 1:3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.  PAUL RECEIVED COMFORT IN HIS TROUBLES 2 Corinthians 1:4 "who comforts us in all our troubles" 2 Corinthians 1:8-9 We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about the troubles we experienced in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself. Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death.  2 Corinthians 1:9b But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead 2 Corinthians 1:10b-11 On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.  SO THAT HE COULD GIVE COMFORT TO OTHERS 2 Corinthians 1:4 ...so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

"Out of Control" // Trauma Response - Week 4

"Out of Control" Trauma Response - Week 4 Galatians 6:2 Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ FULFILL THE LAW OF CHRIST Galatians 5:13-14 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: "Love your neighbor as yourself." CARRYING EACH OTHER'S BURDENS Job 2:11-13 When Job's three friends, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite, heard about all the troubles that had come upon him, they set out from their homes and met together by agreement to go and sympathize with him and comfort him.  When they saw him from a distance, they could hardly recognize him; they began to weep aloud, and they tore their robes and sprinkled dust on their heads. Then they sat on the ground with him for seven days and seven nights. No one said a word to him, because they saw how great his suffering was. Galatians 6:5 for each one should carry their own load.

"The One Truth" // Trauma Response - Week 3

"The One Truth" Trauma Response - Week 3 GOD KNOWS YOU COMPLETELY Psalm 139:1 You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. Psalm 139: 2-6 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. HIS KNOWLEDGE DOES NOT REDUCE YOUR VALUE Psalm 139:13-16 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.  My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.  Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

"Faith Didn't Fix Me" // Trauma Response - Week 2

"Faith Didn't Fix Me" Trauma Response - Week 2 2 Corinthians 12:7-9 Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. THE STRUGGLE WE HAVE WITH WEAKNESS 2 Corinthians 12:7-8 Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. (8) Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. GOD’S GRACE IS SUFFICIENT 2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
