The Truth About Greenwashing and Corporate Lies with John Pabon

Every company wants you to believe it is on your side. They put the right words on the packaging, fly the right flags in the right months, and tell you that buying from them makes you a better person. But what happens when what a company says and what it actually does turn out to be two completely different things? This episode Bruce Anthony sits down with John Pabon, a sustainability expert who spent years inside the corporate machine watching the performance up close. Together they break down greenwashing, the art of looking good without actually doing good, and trace how it crept out of product labels and into social causes, national politics, and the everyday choices we all make at the store. It is a conversation about trust, money, and who really pays the price when brands decide that caring is cheaper to fake than to do. By the end you may never read a "sustainable" label the same way again. #Greenwashing #JohnPabon #Sustainability #CorporateAccountability #ConsciousConsumer #Bluewashing #GreenwashingExposed #SustainableLiving #ESG #ClimateAction #CorporateLies #UnsolicitedPerspectives #podcast  Chapters: 00:00:00 How companies fake caring to win over your trust and your cash 🌍💸🔍 00:02:12 Why companies sell you trust long before they sell a product 🏢🤝💰 00:05:26 Meet John Pabon and learn how the big brands bamboozle all of us 🎭🛍🧐 00:11:37 From the UN to Shanghai and a first career in sustainability 🌐🏙🌱 00:13:27 What sustainability actually means far beyond hugging the trees 🌳♻📘 00:15:24 So who is actually checking these companies? Everybody Wants To Be Right: Fat Joe, Lindsay Clancy & Love | 340

Everybody wants to be right. The trouble is that being loud, being first, and being right are not the same as being correct, and this whole episode lives in the space between those two things. Bruce and Jay Aundrea take three stories nobody actually agrees on, Fat Joe and the fight over language and culture, the Lindsay Clancy case where murder and illness sit uncomfortably close, and couples who love each other from separate homes, and instead of racing to a verdict they slow all the way down. Because the easy answer is usually just the one that lets you stop thinking. First it is Fat Joe, a favorite storyteller who walked into a firestorm, and the question that never really gets settled about language, culture, and who gets to claim what. From there the mood shifts hard into the Lindsay Clancy case, where the words murder and illness sit uncomfortably close together and neither sibling is interested in the easy answer everyone else is reaching for. Then things soften into something more personal, a look at couples choosing to build a life while living apart, and what that says about love, independence, and the stories we tell ourselves about how it is supposed to look. #UnsolicitedPerspectives #FatJoe #NwordDebate #HipHopCulture #LindsayClancy #PostpartumPsychosis #MentalHealthAwareness #LivingApartTogether #ModernRelationships #BlackPodcast #CultureCommentary #CurrentEvents #podcast  Chapters: 00:00:00 Fat Joe, the Clancy case and living apart, all in one episode 🎤🖤🏠 00:02:12 Nerves, dry mouth and the anxiety toots that the body keeps 😅😬💨 00:04:27 When your body knows a relationship is over well before you do 😬💔🧠 00:07:53 Fat Joe love and is the man a cinematic storyteller or extra 🎤📜🤔 00:08:59 Fat Joe, the N-word and that Joe Budden podcast controversy 🎧🖤🔥 00:14:04 White Latino vs Black Latino and who hands out the culture pass 🖤🤷💥 00:22:00 The Rock never plays a Black man and there is no real consensus 🎬🤔💯 00:24:39 The Lindsay Clancy case and a question that has no easy answer 🧠🚨💔 00:26:33 The random car radio chat that pulled Bruce into the Clancy case 🚗📻🤔 00:28:13 Postpartum psychosis, not depression, is the detail people miss 🧠💊🚨 00:32:53 She sought help again and again and got overmedicated instead 💊🏥😞 00:34:41 Where was the husband while everything was quietly falling apart 🤔🏠💔 00:40:43 Postpartum psychosis is more common than SIDS and still ignored 🚨🧠📉 00:48:13 Why so many women defend her and Bruce's cop shooting parallel 🖤🙅💥 00:52:26 Living apart together, the separate homes are the relationship 🏠💕🔑 00:55:22 The numbers, millions live apart and it jumped over 40 percent 📈🏠😮 00:57:17 Peace versus pockets, split the bills or protect your own space 💰🏠😌 00:59:17 Losing yourself in a couple and whether the unit is patriarchy 🖤🤔💥 01:02:47 Resentment, thermostat wars and Bruce's studio in the hood plan 😤🏠🔥 01:05:43 Closing thoughts, be correct not just right in a headline world 🧠💯🔥 This isn't just content — it's a conversation. Fake NFL Star, AI Romance Scams & The Dating Games We Play | 339

Some weeks the whole world feels like one big hustle, and this one leans all the way in. Bruce and his sister open on the messy state of modern dating, the lost art of the first date, and a debate about whether a relationship that ended was ever really a failure. Then the conversation follows the money into the strange new world of digital scams, where Daejon Love allegedly posed as a professional football player and leaned on artificial intelligence to make the whole fantasy look real, and where an Atlanta hustler built an entire brand around selling the dream of easy fraud. Along the way the siblings dig into fake wealth, blue check credibility, romance traps, and the uncomfortable question sitting underneath all of it. In a world where a photo, a search result, or a bank balance can be manufactured, how do you actually know what is real anymore? It is funny, it is sharp, and it just might change the way you look at your feed. Tom Teicher on Prison, Homelessness & the 28th Amendment | Ep 338

Tom Teicher spent twenty-two years inside the systems most people only argue about from a distance. Twelve years helping people find their footing after prison. A decade working on homelessness in Seattle. Then he did something unusual for a man with that resume: he turned his attention to the Constitution itself. In this conversation, Bruce Anthony sits down with Tom Teicher to trace the whole arc, from a childhood where the world felt like his oyster to a career spent meeting people who never got that same head start. They get into what actually helps someone coming home from prison, why a full-time job still is not enough to keep a roof over your head, and how two decades of watching institutions fall short led Teicher to one provocative idea: a 28th Amendment that would call a constitutional convention roughly every forty years. It is an idea that cuts both ways, and Bruce does not let it slide. If you can reopen the Constitution, you can reopen everything in it, including the protections that had to be fought for and won. What follows is an honest, no-flinching exchange about foundations, resilience, and what a country owes the people living inside it. #podcast #TomTeicher #28thAmendment #Constitution #PrisonReform #PrisonerReentry #Homelessness #CriminalJusticeReform #ArticleV #ConstitutionalReform #CivicEngagement #HousingCrisis #Democracy #unsolicitedperspectives  Chapters: 00:00:00 22 years inside failing prisons and housing and a daring fix 🏛📜🔥 00:02:17 Meet Tom Teicher: 22 years on the front lines of the system 🧑🔒🏠 00:04:31 A Leave It to Beaver childhood and discovering another New York 🏡🚆🗽 00:10:12 Housing inspections to juvenile jail: seeing the system fail 🏚🔒📋 00:14:59 Tough love, poverty, and why so much crime tracks circumstance 👊💸⚖ 00:21:59 Why reentry starts the day you enter prison, and resilience 🔓🥊💪 00:24:16 Support systems, stereotypes, and the quiet pull back to prison 🤝🔄🔒 00:27:34 Working and still homeless: what just get a job totally misses 💼🏠❓ 00:32:03 Homeless veterans prove it works, and a safety net in silos 🎖🧩📉 00:39:22 The 28th Amendment explained: why the Constitution has to evolve 📜🔄🏛 00:42:27 The runaway convention fear and why a full reset every 40 years ⚠🌀⏳ 00:48:06 Keeping dark money out of delegate picks and the 80 percent rule 💰🚫🗳 00:55:57 Ratification, majority rule, and why no state will sit this out ✍🗳🤝 00:58:06 The slippery slope: could a convention gut our current rights? ⚠📜🛑 00:59:39 People are dumb: can voters be trusted with the Constitution? 🧠📱❓ 01:01:22 Responsibility for all, trusting the process, and the verdict 📰🧭🙌 01:08:45 People need a foundation, and the real question of what we owe 🧱🤝💭 This isn't just content — it's a conversation. Why Dolly Parton Gave It Away & First Black Woman MLB Owner | Ep 337

Do you get to define your legacy, or does everybody else? That question runs underneath everything Bruce and Jay get into this week on Sibling Happy Hour. They open with the passing of Dolly Parton and the quiet machine of giving she built over a lifetime, and why so much of that generosity landed in places people never expected. From there they turn to history in the making, as one woman becomes the first Black woman to hold majority ownership of a Major League Baseball team, and what her path there says about the kind of wealth that rarely makes noise. The conversation sharpens when the siblings dig into a political organization quietly walking away from part of the very community it claims to represent, and the long American pattern that move fits into. Then things get personal. In the final stretch they ask a question that hits closer to home than any headline: are you your own worst enemy? The habits, the self-talk, and the small daily choices that quietly run the show all get put on the table, along with an honest talk about what actually helps. Dolly, Kwanza, a fight over who belongs, and the war inside your own head. It all comes back to the same thing. You do not get to control the legacy people build from your life. Job Stacking, Penn State Coke Bust & Toxic Breakups | Ep 336

There is a thin line between a legitimate hustle and straight-up fraud, and on Episode 336 of Sibling Happy Hour, Bruce Anthony and J. Aundrea walk right up to it. First, a viral story about someone secretly working 11 remote jobs turns out to be completely made up, but the real cases of workers allegedly billing multiple full-time employers at once are very much true. Then the conversation shifts to Penn State, where the Attorney General has announced charges against 14 people tied to an alleged cocaine operation run out of off-campus fraternities, an operation prosecutors insist was anything but kids being kids. Along the way the siblings dig into who gets treated as a promising young person and who gets treated as a criminal. Finally, they get personal about maturity, honesty, and the cowardly way some people sabotage a relationship instead of simply admitting it is over. When Local News Dies, Government Secrecy Takes Over | Miranda Spivack

What happens when the people running your city, county, or state realize nobody is paying attention anymore? Bruce Anthony sits down with veteran journalist Miranda Spivack, author of Backroom Deals in Our Backyards: How Government Secrecy Harms Our Communities and Local Heroes Fight Back. Miranda spent roughly 20 years at the Washington Post and watched local reporting disappear firsthand. But losing a newspaper isn't just about losing high school sports scores. You lose the reporters who sit through boring government meetings, request documents, follow the money, and ask the questions powerful people would rather avoid. And when those reporters vanish, something changes. The conversation runs from the newsroom to the courthouse to the water authority: secret deals around data centers, government NDAs, contaminated drinking water, dangerous roads, hidden criminal-justice algorithms, and why low-income communities are often the most exposed when government operates in the dark. Miranda also introduces the accidental activists at the heart of her book, ordinary people with no press credentials, no legal team, and no political power, who found something that wasn't right and refused to stop digging. Underneath it all is one uncomfortable question about democracy: it depends not only on who we elect, but on whether anyone is still paying attention after the election is over. #podcast #MirandaSpivack #LocalNews #GovernmentAccountability #GovernmentSecrecy #PublicRecords #Journalism #InvestigativeJournalism #LocalGovernment #Corruption #NewsDeserts #CivicEngagement #Democracy #unsolicitedperspectives  Chapters: 00:00:00 Synopsis: Who Watches Government When Local News Disappears? 👀📰🏛️ 00:02:01 What Communities Lose When Their Local Newspapers Disappear 🏘️📰💔 00:06:30 How Craigslist and Amazon Helped Destroy Local Newspapers Online 📉📰💻 00:09:57 How Ordinary Citizens Are Filling the Local Journalism Vacuum 🔍👥📰 00:13:34 How to Separate Real Journalism From Opinion and Online Noise ✅📰🤔 00:16:40 What Government Does When Nobody Is Watching Local Officials 👀🏛️🚪 00:21:41 How Secret Data Center Deals Drain Public Money and Resources 💧⚡🏢 00:23:54 Why Government NDAs Keep Communities Locked Out of Major Deals 🤐📄🏛️ 00:26:08 Losing Local News Can Increase Corruption and Public Secrecy 📰💰🚨 00:29:01 Why Low-Income Communities Are Hurt Most by Government Secrecy 🏘️⚖️🔒 00:31:30 Five Ordinary People Who Became Accidental Community Watchdogs 👥🔍 00:33:51 How Firefighter Gear and Forever Chemicals Sparked a Movement 🧑‍🚒🧪📣 00:36:28 Public Records That Help You Hold Local Government Accountable 📄🏛️✅ 00:42:09 The Personal and Financial Cost of Becoming a Community Watchdog 💸😓🔍 00:44:12 Staying Objective After 40 Years of Emotionally Brutal Stories 🧊📰❤️ 00:48:06 Local Organizing Gives Ordinary Citizens Real Political Power 👥🗳️💪 00:49:51 Closing: The Truth Is Often Buried Where Nobody Thinks to Look 🔎📄📰 This isn't just content — it's a conversation. The WNBA Stunt Is a Distraction | Vaccine Myths & Bruce vs a Bike Ep. 334

A viral WNBA stunt has everybody arguing about transgender athletes. But Bruce Anthony and J. Aundrea think everybody may be staring at the wrong fight. On this episode of Unsolicited Perspectives, Bruce and Jay break down the controversy of former NBA players saying they want to enter the WNBA, the debate over transgender athletes, and why the much bigger story may be what is happening with Title IX and women's college athletics. The conversation moves from manufactured outrage to the opportunities Title IX created for generations of women, and what could happen if those protections are rolled back. Then it turns to Trump, RFK Jr., childhood vaccines and autism. Bruce and Jay dig into the return of the vaccine-autism claim, why increased autism diagnoses do not automatically mean increased incidence, and the complicated difference between distrusting science and distrusting how medicine has historically been applied, especially within Black communities. And after all that heavy conversation, Bruce decides to demonstrate questionable judgment in real time. A bike-share app literally tells him not to take the bike. Bruce takes the bike anyway. What follows is a slow-motion lesson in hubris that he somehow keeps convincing himself is going according to plan.
