Zen Supermom: The Mental Fitness Podcast

Alena Gomes Rodrigues

I'm not a supermom. But I always wanted to be one and have it all: family, career/business that I love, AND the time for myself. But that ambition without proper stress resistance and resilience killed my mom (cancer at 48) and drove me to the edge of burnout twice. Only when I saw the disastrous effects of my anger, stress, and resentment on my little daughter, I knew I had to change... Since then, not only have I healed but I also helped thousands of other women all around the world through trauma-informed therapy and mental fitness training. And I decided to share the most vulnerable and valuable pieces of my and their journey here. Because if we got out of that dark, stuck place of feeling like a terrible mom, YOU CAN DO IT TOO. So choose the episode that speaks to you and tune in!

How to Get a Lot Done on No Sleep Without Yelling at Your Kids (3 Steps That Actually Work)

Send us Fan Mail You did not sleep. Again. And now you have a full day ahead, kids to manage, and a voice in your head already telling you it is going to be a terrible day. In this episode of the Zen Supermom podcast, Alena shares the 3 steps she uses to get through a productive day even on no sleep, without snapping at her kids and without burning herself out. This is not about pushing harder. It is not about spa days. It is about understanding why the mental suffering on tired days is actually optional, and what the real root of the problem is. What you will learn in this episode: Why lack of sleep is not actually the reason you lose your patience with your kidsThe concept of learned helplessness and how it connects to your childhoodStep 1 How to catch the poor me story and create space between the feeling and your reactionStep 2 What taking care of yourself actually means, starting with asking for help without feeling guiltyStep 3 The big picture helicopter view and the 99 year old grandma exercise that puts any exhausted day into perspectiveWhy the mental suffering on tired days is optional even when the physical exhaustion is completely realWhy taking care of yourself on no-sleep days is the most important thing you can do for your kidsNext step: join Alena live in the free Mommy Tantrum Masterclass: https://zensupermom.easywebinar.live/mommy-tantrum-masterclass Apply to be coached live on the podcast: https://form.jotform.com/261413211817347 Free Mommy Tantrum Masterclass: https://zensupermom.easywebinar.live/mommy-tantrum-masterclass  Website: alenagomesrodrigues.com  Instagram: @alenagomesrodrigues  Facebook Community: https://www.facebook.com/ZenSupermom  Book — I Yelled I Cried I Healed: https://www.amazon.com/Yelled-Cried-Healed-Supermom-Tantrums-ebook/dp/B0FNS4QRNC Topics: no sleep mom, mom burnout, sleep deprivation parenting, learned helplessness, mommy tantrum, emotional regulation for moms, generational trauma, people pleasing mom, taking care of yourself as a mom, calm parenting, stop yelling at kids, zen supermom podcast. You spent the money, gave up sleep, and organized every detail so your family could have an amazing time and memories. Ep 185: Why Nervous System Regulation for Kids Backfires (And What to Fix First)

Send us Fan Mail You have seen the ads. Cartoon children doing brain activation exercises. A nervous system regulation program that promises to turn your dysregulated, tantrum-throwing child into a calm cooperative little human. In this episode of the Zen Supermom podcast, Alena explains why buying a nervous system regulation course for your kids will not solve the problem. And why that is actually good news. Because the real issue is not your child's nervous system. It is yours. And rewiring that changes everything. What you will learn in this episode: Why nervous system regulation courses for kids are like putting a bandaid on a broken armHow your nervous system is the WiFi your kids are permanently connected to, and why no app works on a spotty signalWhat parenting as leadership actually means in practiceThe long term damage that happens when children are made responsible for their parent's emotional regulationWhat healthy anger expression looks like for both you and your kids, and why suppressed anger causes physical diseaseA live nervous system regulation exercise you can do right now, anywhere, without anyone noticingWhy you do not need years of therapy to rewire this and how quickly real change can happenThis episode is for the mom who has been trying everything for her kids and has not yet been told to start with herself. You are not the problem. But you are the solution. Ep 184: Why You Feel Invisible on Mother's Day (And How to Stop Needing His Validation to Feel Worthy)

Send us Fan Mail Every year it happens. Mother's Day arrives. He forgets. Or he buys something last minute that shows he did not think about it at all. And you are left feeling invisible, resentful, and wondering what is wrong with you. In this Mother's Day special episode of the Zen Supermom podcast, Alena shares the real reason why his forgotten gift hurts so much, and why the answer has nothing to do with him. Main takeaways from this episode: The reason you feel invisible when he forgets Mother's Day is a generational pattern rooted in childhood, not a reflection of your relationshipMost moms swing between two extremes — the people pleasing doormat who needs external validation to feel worthy, and the isolated ice queen who powers through alone — both are rooted in the same woundYour kids are not listening to what you say about relationships. They are watching what you doThe five love languages explain why you and your partner may both be expressing love and still missing each other completelyIt is not your partner's job to make you feel loved — and understanding why is actually the most empowering thing you will hear todayGiving conditionally while expecting something back is not unconditional love — and recognizing the difference is the first step to breaking the cycleThe 3 steps to start seeing the pattern, validating your feelings, and rewiring toward genuine self-worth that does not depend on any external validationThis episode is for the mom who is tired of one day a year making her question her entire worth. The pattern can be broken. And it stops with you. 5. Ep 183: What's Dangerous About Using AI for Parenting Advice (And the Question You Should Be Asking Instead)

Ep 183: What's Dangerous About Using AI for Parenting Advice (And the Question You Should Be Asking Instead)

Send us Fan Mail BUZZSPROUT DESCRIPTION You tried AI parenting advice. It sounded perfect. You still yelled. In this episode of the Zen Supermom podcast, Alena Gomes Rodrigues breaks down exactly why AI parenting coaching fails in the moments that matter and what is actually happening in the 3 seconds before a mom loses control with her kids. Main takeaways from this episode: AI is designed to answer questions and make you feel validated, not to show you the full picture or address the root cause of your reactions. Most moms are asking AI the wrong question entirely. The right question is not how do I manage my child's behavior but what is happening inside me in the 3 seconds before I lose it. Anger is a symptom of your fight or flight response being triggered, not a character flaw or a stress problem. Behavioral advice, whether from AI, a parenting coach, or anger management therapy, only treats the surface. The 3 steps to lasting change are awareness, building space between emotion and reaction, and rewiring the reaction itself at the subconscious level. This is a learnable skill, not a personality trait. This episode is for the mom who has read every book, tried every technique, and is still struggling. The problem was never the advice. It was what you could not see underneath. Ep 182: Why You Lose It at Home But Stay Calm at Work: The Root Cause Nobody Talks About

Send us Fan Mail You hold it together at work all day. Then you walk through the front door and completely lose it with your kids. If that sounds familiar, this episode is for you. In this episode Alena breaks down the real reason professional moms snap at home even when they are perfectly capable of handling pressure at work. It has nothing to do with your parenting skills and everything to do with a pattern that was wired into your nervous system long before your kids ever pushed your buttons. You will learn why anger is a symptom not a problem, what you were actually feeling in the moment before you last yelled, why your childhood set the emotional thermostat you are still running on today, and the 3 things it takes to rewire the pattern for good. This is not about doing more. It is about understanding what is actually happening so you can stop it. Topics covered: mom rage, why moms yell, generational trauma, fight or flight stress response, good girl conditioning, people pleasing mom, nervous system and parenting, trauma informed parenting, professional mom burnout, calm parenting, mommy tantrum.
