    Music City Math is Amber Thienel and Jessica Slayton, math education leaders in a large urban school district.  "J.A.M." stands for "just about math."  Here are the top 10 reasons to listen to our podcast: We have over 40 combined years of experience in education. We are women in STEM. We support a large urban school district with an extremely diverse population. We deal with issues of scale and serving a variety of different students. We have held a variety of different positions including teacher, school-based coach, district-level coach, and district leaders. We both have a little "math nerdyness" inside. We take a learner stance and are constantly trying to grow so we can better serve our teachers and students. We know how to have fun, so we temper our seriousness with humor. We are on a mission to redefine math competence, so if you think math success have been too narrowly defined in the past, this may be the podcast for you. We have a passion for students–in our district and beyond. We believe every students deserves to feel like a valued contributor in school (and in math class, in particular).
