Sight Unseen is a podcast hosted by Jason Denton, a legally blind man who recommends movies to watch… because he can’t! Go on this journey with him as he learns to enjoy movies in a brand new way. Jason earned his Bachelors of Science Degree in Theatre Education from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. He co-founded the improv troupes, "Noun" and "J/K Comedy" and "Killer Theatre." He writes stand up comedy and listens to movies from his home in Asheville, NC. He's watched almost every Siskel and Ebert episode on YouTube and decided he could do that, too.

Jason talks about how Barbie the movie playfully touches on some serious social issues, but has lots of fun doing it. Also, Jason explains that even without the wacky visuals, the movie is very clear at what it is trying to say and does it with a wonderfully, playful tone!     Sight Unseen #3 - Friday the 13th

    Happy Friday the 13th! This month, Blind Guy and Movie Buff Jason Denton will be exploring a guilty pleasure movie franchise: Friday the 13th, Part Two. It’s Jason on Jason! Why Part Two? Because it’s the only one out of the 12 Friday the 13th movies that has audio description, the track that explains the action to people who are visually impaired. But that’s not the only reason! This movie features one of Jason’s favorite “final girl” actresses, Amy Steel. Her performance makes this movie a step above some slasher flicks. This was also the directorial debut of Steve Miner. Hear about Jason‘s history with the whole Friday the 13th series, why he was so reluctant to finish them and how it became actually one of his favorite franchises to revisit. So, join Sight Unseen for our first guilty pleasure episode. Then we will get back to the artsy stuff! Warning: Spoilers in this podcast. "Badlands" follows young actors Sissy Spacek and Martin Sheen as lovers on the run in a "Bonnie and Clyde" style tale. Spoiler alert: Just elope and don't shoot your girlfriend's dad.  "Days of Heaven" traces the journey of Richard Gere, Brooke Adams, and Linda Manz through the flyover states in search of work on Sam Shepherd's farm. My Dinner with Andre came out in 1981, was directed by Louis Malle, and features the actors André Gregory and Wallace Shawn playing versions of themselves.
