The Three Secrets Hidden in Eve's Name (And the 5 Mistakes She Made that Will Cost You)

Did you know that hidden inside the name of our first mother, Eve, are three powerful secrets — secrets about what it truly means to be a woman? In today's episode, Jennifer Strickland takes you deep into the Hebrew roots of Eve's name, Chavah, and uncovers what God encoded there from the very beginning: a woman named for the Spirit, built for life-giving, and called to speak. But Eve also made five serious mistakes — and women are still making them today. Jennifer teaches through each one with vulnerability and clarity, drawing on her book I Am a Woman: Taking Back Our Name to show you how to walk in alignment with your true identity. This episode will challenge you, encourage you, and call you back to the woman God designed you to be. In This Episode: The three secrets hidden inside Eve's Hebrew name, Chavah Why Eve's name shares letters with Ruach — the Hebrew word for Spirit The two roots of her name and why they both mean to speak, declare, and make known Why Eve's name functions like a verb — and what that means for you The 5 dangers women fall into when they repeat Eve's mistakes: Making an agreement with the enemy Being driven by vanity, greed, and the lust for more Operating from a spirit of lack instead of abundance Not knowing the Word — or knowing it and disobeying it Acting out of line with your identity as ezer kenegdo Why Paul holds Adam — not Eve — responsible for the fall (Romans 5:12) What Paul's letters about women really mean when you start with Eve Jennifer's personal testimony about using her voice to tear down — and what God taught her through it Scriptures Referenced: Genesis 1–3 Romans 5:12 Proverbs (the foolish woman vs. the godly woman) Resources: 📖 I Am a Woman: Taking Back Our Name → https://urmore.org/product-category/books/ 🎓 Masterclass — How to Turn Your Mess Into a Mission Field → https://events.urmore.org/ 📺 YouTube → https://www.youtube.com/@Behold_TV 📸 Instagram: @jenniferstrickland_author & @behold.tv 👤 Facebook: @jenniferstrickland.author 🌐 Website: URMore.org 📧 Email: support@urmore.org

What God Does With Faithful, Unseen Women | The Midwives of Exodus

Most people know Moses. Most people know Miriam. Some people know Jochebed. But do you know Shiphrah and Puah? They had no platform. No position. No power. They stood before the most powerful ruler in the known world and quietly, courageously, at great personal risk — said no. And then they went back to their work and kept giving life. Because of what they did in secret, in the dark, in the unseen — a nation was born. In this episode Jennifer Strickland digs into one of the most overlooked stories in all of Scripture and pulls out gold that will change the way you see your own faithfulness, your own calling, and your own place in the story God is writing. This episode is for the woman who feels invisible. For the mother who wonders if her ordinary work counts. For the teacher, the mentor, the spiritual mother, the woman who has been pouring into others for years with no recognition and no applause. God saw Shiphrah and Puah. He wrote their names in eternity while Pharaoh — the most powerful man in the world — remains anonymous on the same page. He sees you too. WHAT YOU WILL HEAR IN THIS EPISODE The Setting — Exodus 1 God's people are enslaved, oppressed, and crying out. Pharaoh is afraid of their multiplication — so he gives a horrifying order to the Hebrew midwives. Kill the boys. Let the girls live. And two women decide they fear God more than they fear Pharaoh. Who Were Shiphrah and Puah? Their names are preserved in Scripture while Pharaoh is never named in this passage — one of the most profound theological statements in the entire book of Exodus. God remembers the faithful and the unseen. Jennifer unpacks the meaning of both names — Shiphrah meaning beautiful, brightness, to make clean, and Puah meaning the birth cry itself — and shows how God named the women who gave life with life-giving names. The Hebrew Word for Midwife — Meyaledet The Hebrew word meyaledet — from the root yalad — means one who causes to bring forth. The midwife does not create the life. She does not own the story. She serves the emergence of what God has already planted and creates the conditions for it to come safely into the world. Jennifer shares how this word is the foundation of her calling as The Writing Mid-Wife — and why it is a picture of ministry for every woman who pours into others. The First Act of Civil Disobedience in the Bible Before Daniel. Before the three men in the furnace. Before any of the celebrated acts of courage against ungodly authority in Scripture — two women simply kept giving life. Jennifer unpacks their response to Pharaoh and the extraordinary theological question it raises about fear of God versus fear of man. God's Reward — Batim God gave Shiphrah and Puah batim — households. Legacies. Futures written in flesh and blood and generations. The women who preserved life were given life. Jennifer speaks directly to mothers, to women without biological children, and to every woman who has poured into the lives of others in the unseen — and reminds them that God is building them a household too. Midwives Throughout Scripture Midwives appear at every critical threshold of new life in the Bible — at Rachel's death and Benjamin's birth in Genesis 35, at the birth of Tamar's twins and the scarlet thread in Genesis 38, and in the very language God uses to describe His own faithfulness in Isaiah 66 and Ezekiel 16. God Himself speaks as a midwife — the one who brings to birth and does not abandon the delivery. What Shiphrah and Puah Could Not See They had no idea what they were protecting. They did not know that the boys they saved would grow into the men who followed Moses through the parted Red Sea. They did not know they were preserving the lineage through which Jesus Christ would enter the world. They just kept showing up. Jennifer draws a direct line from their faithfulness in the unseen to the fruit they could not see — and speaks to every woman who cannot yet see what her own faithfulness is producing. The Books Jennifer Has Midwifed Into the World Jennifer shares the stories of women whose books she has helped bring forth as The Writing Mid-Wife — and reflects on the readers those books have reached in places neither of them will ever visit, in languages neither of them wrote in, changing lives neither of them will ever know about this side of eternity. The fruit of faithfulness always outlasts the faithful. God Names the Unnamed Pharaoh is never named in Exodus 1. Shiphrah and Puah are. Three thousand years later we are still saying their names. Jennifer speaks directly to the woman who feels invisible — unseen, unnamed, overlooked — and reminds her that she is engraved on the palms of His hands. KEY SCRIPTURES Exodus 1:15-21 — Shiphrah, Puah, and the king's order Genesis 35:17 — The first midwife in Scripture at the birth of Benjamin Genesis 38:28 — The midwife and the scarlet thread at the birth of Perez and Zerah Psalm 22:9-10 — God as the one who brought us from the womb Proverbs 29:25 — Fear of man is a snare; trust in the Lord brings safety Isaiah 49:15-16 — "I have engraved you on the palms of my hands" Isaiah 66:9 — "Do I bring to the moment of birth and not give delivery?" Ezekiel 16:4-5 — The birth without a midwife as a picture of abandonment KEY TAKEAWAYS God named Shiphrah and Puah while leaving Pharaoh anonymous — the most powerful man in the world forgotten, the faithful midwives remembered for eternity. The Hebrew word for midwife — meyaledet — means one who causes to bring forth. The midwife does not create the life. She serves its emergence. This is a picture of every woman who pours into others. Shiphrah and Puah are the first recorded act of civil disobedience in all of Scripture — and they did it quietly, in the dark, with no audience except God. They feared God more than they feared Pharaoh. That single reorientation produced a courage that changed the course of history. What God gave them — batim, households, legacies — was directly proportional to what they had given. They preserved life. He gave them life. You cannot out-give God. They could not see what they were protecting. You cannot always see what your faithfulness is producing either. But God can. And He is writing a story from your obedience that is bigger than you know. Your story will bless people far beyond your telling of it. What Is Your Burning Bush? It's Not What You Think | Beholding the Great I AM — Part 2

Jennifer Strickland opens this episode with a confession — she got it wrong. When she started this series, she thought her burning bush was the vision. The big, imposing, God-given dream she has been building toward — a library of resources for women around the world. She kept telling her prayer partners, her closest friends, her husband Shane — "This is my burning bush." But as she studied Exodus 3 more deeply, God showed her something that stopped her in her tracks. The burning bush is not the vision. It is not the book, the business, the ministry, the baby, the marriage, the dream. The burning bush is God Himself. And the most important thing you can do — before you pursue anything He has called you to — is to turn aside and behold Him. In this episode, Jennifer unpacks the profound connection between the I AM of Exodus 3 and the seven I AM statements of Jesus in the Gospel of John, includes a powerful clip from Jackie Hill Perry on what it means to truly behold the Lord, and issues a clear and loving challenge to every listener: what are you fixated on? This episode ends with an invitation to salvation — and a first glimpse at the Behold Library vision God has given Jennifer for women around the world. IN THIS EPISODE Jennifer's Confession — She Misread Her Own Burning Bush Jennifer shares honestly that she spent months calling the Behold Library vision her burning bush — the thing to fixate on and run toward. But returning to Exodus 3:3, she discovered that Moses did not behold the vision. He beheld God. The assignment came after the encounter. The calling flowed from the beholding. And the same is true for every woman listening. The Podcast Is Reaching 111 Countries Jennifer shares the stunning reality that In God's Eyes is now reaching women in 111 countries — tens of thousands of listeners across the United States, Canada, Germany, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, France, Vietnam, South Africa, the Philippines, Belgium, Spain, Singapore, Italy, Nepal, and beyond. This is not a platform. This is a missionfield. Jackie Hill Perry — What Would Happen If We Behold Him? Jennifer plays a powerful clip from Jackie Hill Perry on the transforming power of beholding God — in pain, in frustration, in betrayal, in weariness, in loss. "Why do you think you were made? Why do you think you were created, if not to behold Him?" Watch on YouTube to see Jackie's face as she delivers this message with tears streaming down her own. Moses and the Character of God — Exodus 3 When Moses turns aside and beholds the burning bush, God does not begin with the assignment. He begins with His character. I have seen the affliction of my people. I know their suffering. I have heard their cries. I will deliver them. Before God gives Moses anything to do, He shows Moses who He IS. This is the pattern. Beholding comes before becoming. Identity comes before assignment. The I AM of Exodus Meets the I AM of John The same name God speaks to Moses in the wilderness — I AM WHO I AM — echoes throughout the entire Gospel of John as Jesus claims it again and again. This is why the religious leaders wanted to stone Him. He was not just a moral teacher making inspiring claims. He was claiming to be the God of the burning bush. The Seven I AM Statements of Jesus I AM the bread of life — John 6:35 (Jesus corrects the people: it was not Moses who gave manna in the wilderness. It was God. And now God offers the true bread from heaven — Himself.) I AM the light of the world — John 8:12 I AM the gate — John 10:9 I AM the good shepherd — John 10:11 I AM the resurrection and the life — John 11:25 I AM the way, the truth, and the life — John 14:6 I AM the vine — John 15:5 John 8:58 — Before Abraham Was, I AM The most explosive I AM statement of all. The grammatical tense alone was enough to make the religious leaders pick up stones. Jesus was not saying He existed before Abraham as an older created being. He was claiming to exist outside of time itself. I AM — present, continuous, eternal. Liar, lunatic, or Lord. There is no fourth option. Beholding Leads to Becoming — John 15 Jesus is the vine. The Father is the gardener. And He will prune everything from your life that does not bear good fruit — just as the fire of the crucible burns off everything that is not gold. What is He pruning in you? What is not serving you? What needs to be laid down so that you can become the person He is calling you to be? An Invitation to Salvation Jennifer pauses mid-episode to offer every listener who has never accepted Jesus the opportunity to do so — simply, honestly, right where they are. "God, I want to behold You." A First Glimpse — The Behold Library Jennifer shares the vision God has given her in the fire — a library of resources for women and girls around the world to know their worth, write the book God has put on their heart, launch the ministry, and steward the calling of God on their lives. More details coming. Stay tuned. KEY SCRIPTURES Exodus 3:3 — Moses turns aside to behold the burning bush Exodus 3:14 — "I AM WHO I AM" — God's eternal name John 6:35 — "I AM the bread of life" John 8:12 — "I AM the light of the world" John 8:58 — "Before Abraham was even born, I AM" John 10:9 — "I AM the gate" John 10:11 — "I AM the good shepherd" John 11:25 — "I AM the resurrection and the life" John 14:6 — "I AM the way, the truth, and the life" John 15:1-5 — "I AM the vine, my Father is the gardener" Acts 3 — Peter and John at the gate called Beautiful Proverbs 13:22 — The wealth of the wicked is stored up for the righteous KEY TAKEAWAYS Your burning bush is not your vision, your project, your ministry, or your dream. The burning bush is God Himself — and He is the one worth pursuing above everything else. Moses did not behold the assignment. He beheld God. The assignment came after the encounter. This is always the order. Jesus claims the same I AM name that God spoke to Moses in Exodus 3:14 — seven times in the Gospel of John, and most explosively in John 8:58. The religious leaders understood exactly what He was claiming. There is no middle ground: liar, lunatic, or Lord. Beholding leads to becoming. What you fixate on shapes you. Fix your gaze on Him — and He will make you into the person He created you to be. The Refiner purifies in fire. The Gardener prunes in season. Both are the same God doing the same work — burning off and cutting away everything that does not reflect Him or bear fruit for His kingdom. You were created to behold Him. Everything else flows from that. What Is Your Burning Bush? How God Calls, Commissions & Consecrates You for Your Purpose | Part 1

What Is Your Burning Bush? How God Calls, Commissions & Consecrates You | Part 1 Have you ever felt called to something bigger than yourself — and immediately felt completely unqualified for it? Moses did too. Three times. In this first episode of the Burning Bush series, Jennifer Strickland takes us deep into the Book of Exodus — and shows us that God does not call the equipped. He equips the called. And He starts with what is already in your hand. In this episode: — The Hebrew midwives who feared God more than Pharaoh — Jochebed: why releasing what you love most is the definition of glory — Miriam, Pharaoh's daughter, Zipporah — the women who kept rescuing Moses — Moses: the man whose passion already mirrored God's heart — The burning bush — Exodus 3 — and Moses' three protests — God's three answers: I will be with you. I AM. What is in your hand? — The stunning moment in Exodus 4:24 when Zipporah saved Moses from God Himself — Called. Commissioned. Consecrated. The three-part framework for your calling. You are not a mess - you are a messenger

What if the most painful, difficult, shameful season of your life is actually the most powerful message you carry? In this episode, Jennifer Strickland unpacks one of the most liberating truths in Scripture — that God does not wait until you are cleaned up, credentialed, or have it all together before He commissions you as a messenger. He meets you in the mess. He calls you by name in the middle of it. And then He sends you. Through the stories of two of the most powerful women in Scripture — the Woman at the Well in John 4 and Mary Magdalene — Jennifer shows us the pattern God uses again and again: mess to encounter to message to mission field. No seminary degree required. No perfect past required. Just an encounter with the living Christ — and the willingness to go and tell what He has done. Whether you are in the middle of a crucible right now, or you are sitting on a story you have been too afraid or too ashamed to share, this episode is your invitation to reach for the gold God has buried in your hardest season — and give it away. WHAT YOU’LL HEAR IN THIS EPISODE The Woman at the Well — John 4 Jesus meets a woman at the well in the middle of the day — an outcast, living in shame, hiding from her community. He puts her whole mess on the table. And then He calls her “dear woman” — a term of endearment, not shame — and announces His identity as the Messiah to her first. Within moments, she becomes the first evangelist to her entire village. She didn’t have permission from the people. She had an encounter with Jesus, and that was enough. And many believed because of her testimony. Mary Magdalene — Luke 8 & John 20 Mary Magdalene — seven demons cast out, a woman the world had written off — followed Jesus from the very beginning, supporting His ministry out of her own means. She was the last at the cross and the first at the tomb. And when Jesus rose, He called her by name and commissioned her: “Go and tell.” Her mess became the first announcement of the gospel. We are still talking about her testimony two thousand years later. The Meaning of Testimony Your testimony is not a single dramatic moment. It is the record of God’s activity in your life — how He showed up, who He proved Himself to be, what He taught you in the middle of your hardest season. When God has shown up for you in any way — He is your message. Jennifer’s Personal Story Jennifer shares how her own crucibles — the eating disorder, the approval issues, the painful seasons she did not want to live through, let alone write about — became the gold that has now reached women through, and God continues to multiply the gospel through book after book, reader after reader, life after life. Psalm 68:11 — The Warring Women of Zion “The Lord gives the word, and great is the army of women who proclaim the good news.” You are part of that army. And your story is your weapon. KEY SCRIPTURES John 4:16-42 — The Woman at the Well Luke 8:2 — Mary Magdalene and the women who followed Jesus John 20:11-18 — Mary Magdalene at the tomb: “Go and tell” Psalm 68:11 — The army of women who proclaim the good news Isaiah 52:7 — How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news KEY TAKEAWAYS You do not have to have your whole story cleaned up before you share it — authenticity is the doorway, not perfection. Your testimony is not one dramatic moment. It is the ongoing record of who God is proving Himself to be in your life. The woman at the well did not hide her past — she led with it. And many believed because of what she said. Every book Jennifer has written began with a crucible. Every reader whose life was changed is fruit from that fire. One act of obedience — one story shared, one book written, one conversation had — can multiply the gospel into generations you will never see. You Are Not Condemned — You Are Commissioned | In God's Eyes Ep. 1

Have you ever felt like the enemy had a window into your soul — constantly reminding you of your mistakes, your failures, your silence — and you started to believe it? After a full year away from the microphone, Jennifer Strickland is back — and she is sharing everything. Where she’s been. What God taught her. What the Regeneration recovery program at Watermark Church uncovered deep in her soul. And the one truth that set her free: You are not condemned. You are commissioned. In this first episode of In God’s Eyes with Jennifer Strickland, Jennifer opens up about two years in the Regeneration Program — the inventory process, the conviction, the confession, the clearing — and what it means to come back to your calling after God has cleaned the inside of your cup. Drawing from the calling of Isaiah in Isaiah 6, Romans 8:1, Matthew 28:18–20, and a powerful clip from Pastor Phillip Anthony Mitchell, Jennifer walks you through the process God uses to move us from conviction to commission — and why the enemy’s voice of condemnation is the lie you must learn to recognize and refuse. This episode is for you if you have ever: → Stepped back from your calling and wondered if you could return → Battled the difference between Holy Spirit conviction and enemy condemnation → Struggled with people-pleasing, pride, approval-seeking, or jealousy → Felt like your failures defined you → Known in your head that you’re forgiven — but not yet felt it in your heart Your sin does not define you. The Pro-Life Debate with Abby Johnson

This is one of my favorite interviews! Abby Johnson, founder of Pro-Love Ministries, helps us understand the humanity behind what happens in abortion clinics and how to love people on both sides of the debate. Abby Johnson has always been fiercely determined to help women in need. This desire led her to a career with Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, and ultimately caused her to flee the organization, becoming an outspoken advocate for the pro-life movement. During her eight years with Planned Parenthood, Abby quickly rose through the organization’s ranks to become a clinic director. However, she grew increasingly disturbed by what she witnessed. Abortion was a product that Planned Parenthood was selling, not an unfortunate necessity they were trying to decrease. Still, Abby loved the women who entered her clinic and cared for her co-workers. Despite her growing unrest, she remained and worked to support women in crisis. Everything changed on September 26, 2009, when Abby was asked to assist with an ultrasound-guided abortion. She watched in horror as a 13-week-old baby fought for its life but ultimately lost it at the hands of the abortionist. At that moment, she fully grasped what abortion truly was and the cause she had dedicated her life to. A dramatic transformation washed over Abby. Desperate and confused, she sought help from a local pro-life group. She vowed to advocate for life in the womb and expose abortion for what it truly is. Today, Abby travels across the globe sharing her story, educating the public about pro-life issues, advocating for the unborn, and reaching out to abortion clinic staff still working in the industry. She founded And Then There Were None, a ministry designed to assist abortion clinic workers in transitioning out of the industry. Since 2012, this ministry has helped over 680 workers leave the abortion field. In 2019, Abby also founded ProLove Ministries, an umbrella organization to house pro-life projects and affiliations that fill gaps in the movement. Abby lives in Texas with her husband and their eight precious children. You will learn who you are in His eyes, how to turn your mess into a message and your message into a mission field—and how to refute the lies the enemy tells you about your value and your calling.
