Jennifer Strickland opens this episode with a confession — she got it wrong. When she started this series, she thought her burning bush was the vision. The big, imposing, God-given dream she has been building toward — a library of resources for women around the world. She kept telling her prayer partners, her closest friends, her husband Shane — "This is my burning bush." But as she studied Exodus 3 more deeply, God showed her something that stopped her in her tracks. The burning bush is not the vision. It is not the book, the business, the ministry, the baby, the marriage, the dream. The burning bush is God Himself. And the most important thing you can do — before you pursue anything He has called you to — is to turn aside and behold Him. In this episode, Jennifer unpacks the profound connection between the I AM of Exodus 3 and the seven I AM statements of Jesus in the Gospel of John, includes a powerful clip from Jackie Hill Perry on what it means to truly behold the Lord, and issues a clear and loving challenge to every listener: what are you fixated on? This episode ends with an invitation to salvation — and a first glimpse at the Behold Library vision God has given Jennifer for women around the world. IN THIS EPISODE Jennifer's Confession — She Misread Her Own Burning Bush Jennifer shares honestly that she spent months calling the Behold Library vision her burning bush — the thing to fixate on and run toward. But returning to Exodus 3:3, she discovered that Moses did not behold the vision. He beheld God. The assignment came after the encounter. The calling flowed from the beholding. And the same is true for every woman listening. The Podcast Is Reaching 111 Countries Jennifer shares the stunning reality that In God's Eyes is now reaching women in 111 countries — tens of thousands of listeners across the United States, Canada, Germany, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, France, Vietnam, South Africa, the Philippines, Belgium, Spain, Singapore, Italy, Nepal, and beyond. This is not a platform. This is a missionfield. Jackie Hill Perry — What Would Happen If We Behold Him? Jennifer plays a powerful clip from Jackie Hill Perry on the transforming power of beholding God — in pain, in frustration, in betrayal, in weariness, in loss. "Why do you think you were made? Why do you think you were created, if not to behold Him?" Watch on YouTube to see Jackie's face as she delivers this message with tears streaming down her own. Moses and the Character of God — Exodus 3 When Moses turns aside and beholds the burning bush, God does not begin with the assignment. He begins with His character. I have seen the affliction of my people. I know their suffering. I have heard their cries. I will deliver them. Before God gives Moses anything to do, He shows Moses who He IS. This is the pattern. Beholding comes before becoming. Identity comes before assignment. The I AM of Exodus Meets the I AM of John The same name God speaks to Moses in the wilderness — I AM WHO I AM — echoes throughout the entire Gospel of John as Jesus claims it again and again. This is why the religious leaders wanted to stone Him. He was not just a moral teacher making inspiring claims. He was claiming to be the God of the burning bush. The Seven I AM Statements of Jesus I AM the bread of life — John 6:35 (Jesus corrects the people: it was not Moses who gave manna in the wilderness. It was God. And now God offers the true bread from heaven — Himself.) I AM the light of the world — John 8:12 I AM the gate — John 10:9 I AM the good shepherd — John 10:11 I AM the resurrection and the life — John 11:25 I AM the way, the truth, and the life — John 14:6 I AM the vine — John 15:5 John 8:58 — Before Abraham Was, I AM The most explosive I AM statement of all. The grammatical tense alone was enough to make the religious leaders pick up stones. Jesus was not saying He existed before Abraham as an older created being. He was claiming to exist outside of time itself. I AM — present, continuous, eternal. Liar, lunatic, or Lord. There is no fourth option. Beholding Leads to Becoming — John 15 Jesus is the vine. The Father is the gardener. And He will prune everything from your life that does not bear good fruit — just as the fire of the crucible burns off everything that is not gold. What is He pruning in you? What is not serving you? What needs to be laid down so that you can become the person He is calling you to be? An Invitation to Salvation Jennifer pauses mid-episode to offer every listener who has never accepted Jesus the opportunity to do so — simply, honestly, right where they are. "God, I want to behold You." A First Glimpse — The Behold Library Jennifer shares the vision God has given her in the fire — a library of resources for women and girls around the world to know their worth, write the book God has put on their heart, launch the ministry, and steward the calling of God on their lives. More details coming. Stay tuned. KEY SCRIPTURES Exodus 3:3 — Moses turns aside to behold the burning bush Exodus 3:14 — "I AM WHO I AM" — God's eternal name John 6:35 — "I AM the bread of life" John 8:12 — "I AM the light of the world" John 8:58 — "Before Abraham was even born, I AM" John 10:9 — "I AM the gate" John 10:11 — "I AM the good shepherd" John 11:25 — "I AM the resurrection and the life" John 14:6 — "I AM the way, the truth, and the life" John 15:1-5 — "I AM the vine, my Father is the gardener" Acts 3 — Peter and John at the gate called Beautiful Proverbs 13:22 — The wealth of the wicked is stored up for the righteous KEY TAKEAWAYS Your burning bush is not your vision, your project, your ministry, or your dream. The burning bush is God Himself — and He is the one worth pursuing above everything else. Moses did not behold the assignment. He beheld God. The assignment came after the encounter. This is always the order. Jesus claims the same I AM name that God spoke to Moses in Exodus 3:14 — seven times in the Gospel of John, and most explosively in John 8:58. The religious leaders understood exactly what He was claiming. There is no middle ground: liar, lunatic, or Lord. Beholding leads to becoming. What you fixate on shapes you. Fix your gaze on Him — and He will make you into the person He created you to be. The Refiner purifies in fire. The Gardener prunes in season. Both are the same God doing the same work — burning off and cutting away everything that does not reflect Him or bear fruit for His kingdom. You were created to behold Him. Everything else flows from that.
