Say YES to Doing the Hard Thing First with Anthony Carella of Team Seneca Navy

What happens when the challenge you said YES to becomes harder than anything you could have prepared for? In this episode of the Say YES Movement Podcast, Heather and John welcome back Anthony Carella of Team Seneca Navy for part two of his powerful story rowing across the Atlantic Ocean in the World's Toughest Row. This conversation goes deeper into what really happened on the boat: seasickness, sleep deprivation, shifting team dynamics, unexpected pressure, and the moments where the team had to keep moving forward without a perfect plan. Anthony shares what it was like to spend 35 days on the Atlantic Ocean with no escape, no comfort, and no room to hide from the hard moments. Team Seneca Navy finished the World's Toughest Row in 35 days, 2 hours, and 45 minutes, placing 4th overall, while raising awareness and support for youth development through their mission. This episode is not just about rowing. It is about leadership, resilience, teamwork, communication, sacrifice, and what changes when you stop avoiding the hard thing in front of you. In this episode, we explore: • What happens when a team member gets sick in the middle of the Atlantic • How leadership shifts when the person normally in charge is struggling • Why preparation matters, but adaptability matters even more • The mental and emotional toll of endurance challenges • How shared hardship strengthens communication and relationships • Why doing the hard thing first can change the trajectory of your life • The power of community, support, and saying YES before you feel ready Anthony's story is a reminder that we all face waves in life. Some are expected. Some hit harder than we imagined. But the way we respond can shape who we become. If you are avoiding a difficult decision, delaying a courageous step, or waiting until life feels easier before taking action, this episode will challenge you to ask: What is the hard thing I need to say YES to now? Because when you shift your mindset, you shift your life. Say YES to Rebuilding Trust When Teams Are Tired of Change

Change has become constant. New tools. New priorities. New structures. New expectations. New ways of working. And while leaders may understand why change is necessary, teams can reach a point where they are simply tired of adapting. In this episode of the Say YES Movement Podcast, Heather and John explore one of the biggest leadership challenges today: rebuilding trust when teams are experiencing change fatigue. Because when people are tired of change, they are not always resisting the future. Sometimes they are protecting themselves from disappointment, confusion, or broken promises from the past. This conversation is for leaders who are navigating teams that feel overwhelmed, skeptical, quiet, disengaged, or hesitant to believe that "this change will be different." Heather and John unpack why trust breaks down during periods of constant change, how communication can either rebuild credibility or damage it further, and what leaders can do to help teams feel grounded again. In this episode, you'll hear: • Why change fatigue is often a trust issue, not an attitude problem • How leaders unintentionally lose credibility during constant change • Why communication must be consistent, honest, and human • How to acknowledge fatigue without lowering expectations • What it takes to rebuild belief, buy-in, and momentum • Why trust is rebuilt through small promises kept over time Teams do not need leaders to pretend change is easy. They need leaders who communicate clearly, follow through consistently, and create enough trust for people to move forward again. If your team is tired, skeptical, or stretched by constant change, this episode will help you say YES to rebuilding trust one conversation, one commitment, and one decision at a time. What does it take to perform at an elite level — consistently, under pressure, and as part of a team? In this episode of the Say YES Movement Podcast, Heather and John are joined by special guest Anthony Carella for a powerful conversation on discipline, resilience, and what high-performance environments can teach leaders in business and life. Anthony brings a unique perspective from the world of competitive rowing — where success is built on precision, trust, and relentless commitment. But this conversation goes far beyond sport. Because leadership isn't just about showing up when it's easy. It's about how you train, how you respond, and how you align with others when it matters most. This episode is for leaders who are: • Looking to elevate their performance and consistency • Leading teams where trust and alignment are critical • Navigating pressure, expectations, and high standards • Wanting to bring a "team-first" mindset into their leadership In this episode, we explore: • The discipline required to perform at a high level over time • What rowing teaches about trust, rhythm, and team alignment • How leaders can build resilience through structure and habits • The connection between individual accountability and team success • Why high performance is less about intensity — and more about consistency High performance isn't accidental. It's built — one decision, one habit, one standard at a time. If you're ready to lead with greater discipline, clarity, and intention, this episode will help you say YES to raising your standard. 🔗 Connect with us: John Ribeiro: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ribeirojohn/ Heather Arthur: https://www.linkedin.com/in/heatherarthur/ 🔗 Learn more about Anthony and rowing at Seneca: https://www.senecanavy.com/

Say YES to Leading Through Decision Fatigue

There's never been more information available to leaders than there is today. More data. More tools. More options. And yet… more uncertainty. In this episode of the Say YES Movement Podcast, Heather and John explore one of the most relevant leadership challenges in 2026: decision fatigue in an age of endless input. Because leadership today isn't about finding more information. It's about knowing what to do with it. This conversation is for leaders who are: • Feeling overwhelmed by constant inputs, ideas, and opportunities • Struggling to make clear, confident decisions • Navigating the pressure to "get it right" in a fast-moving world • Leading teams who are also experiencing information overload   We explore: • Why more information doesn't lead to better decisions • How AI is amplifying both opportunity and overwhelm • The hidden cost of decision fatigue on leaders and teams • A simple but powerful shift: moving from consumption to action • Why clarity comes from commitment — not more options One of the most powerful reminders in this episode: You don't need more ideas. You need to act on the ones that matter. Because leadership isn't about knowing everything. It's about moving forward with clarity. If you've been feeling stuck, scattered, or stretched by too many choices, this episode will help you say YES to focus, action, and confident leadership. Your team is showing up. But the energy feels different. As Q1 comes to a close, many leaders start to notice it — Momentum slows. Focus fades. Engagement dips. David Fairweather on Courage Leadership and Saying YES to What Matters

Leadership isn't revealed when everything is smooth. It's revealed in the moments when expectations rise, pressure builds, and the answers aren't obvious. In this episode of the Say YES Movement Podcast, Heather and John sit down with David Fairweather for a candid and thought-provoking conversation about what it truly takes to lead when the stakes are real. David shares the defining experiences that shaped his leadership — the setbacks that strengthened him, the uncomfortable decisions that built clarity, and the mindset shifts that allowed him to step into greater responsibility. This is not a conversation about theory. It's about lived leadership. In this episode, you'll discover: • Why courage is a leadership requirement — not a personality trait • How ownership changes the trajectory of your influence • The hidden cost of avoiding hard conversations • What resilience looks like in high-performance environments • Why the most powerful YES often begins with discomfort If you're navigating growth, stepping into a bigger role, or leading through uncertainty, this episode will challenge you to raise your standard — and your self-awareness. Because leadership isn't about having all the answers. It's about who you choose to become when the answers aren't clear. 🎥 Watch David's YouTube video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kgpsoZ4YW4 Connect with us: Heather Arthur – https://www.linkedin.com/in/heather-arthur/ John Ribeiro – https://www.linkedin.com/in/ribeirojohn/ Subscribe, share, and leave a review if this conversation resonates. #SayYESMovement #LeadershipGrowth #ExecutiveLeadership #ResilientLeadership #PersonalDevelopment #CourageousLeadership #LeadershipMindset #ThrivingHumans
