Podcast Episode #61 (Part 1): An American Biker Discovers Hinduism through Devi

Episode #61 of the Hindu Parenting Podcast features a conversation with Trivikram Gajulapalli about his unique cross-cultural film, “Chiquita” in which a middle-aged biker from Texas comes into contact with the Divine Feminine, also known as the Devi in Sanatana Dharma. This short film goes into unexplored territory - the experiences of American Hindus. Why should it matter to an Indian Hindu? Or a Hindu of Indian descent? Because the movie brings out the universalism of Sanatana Dharma. We see that anyone who is intelligent and asks fundamental questions about the individual and the world, will eventually be attracted to Sanatana Dharma. There are many things an Indian Hindu can learn from this unmissable short film - how Hinduism is different in its scope and approach, how Hindus accept diversity naturally, and how aggressive evangelism can be questioned confidently. Ep. 60: From Percy Jackson to History Scholar

There was time when the whole world was practising natural religions like Hinduism. So what changed, when and where? For that, we need to know the history of the monotheisms, starting with Judaism, then moving on to Christianity and Islam. Most Hindus are not aware that the West and Europe was not always Christian. We need to understand the fall of the Roman Empire and the rise of monotheistic religions since we see the same battle playing out in India today. Understanding the strategies employed will make us better prepared to hold on to the few natural religions left in the world today. It will help us keep our kids safe and pass on our traditions and knowledge systems to our children. In Episode #60 of The Hindu Parenting Podcast, we talk with Rama Sesan Chandrasekharan Rama’s Substack , author of “From Gods to the God: Christianization of the Roman Empire”. Rama Sesan Chandrasekharan has a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics from IIT Madras. He is a self-taught linguist and a scholar of history. The link for his book is here. Ep.59: "Hold On to Your Kids" - Book Discussion

We all want to influence our children, but how do we get them to listen to us? Episode #59 is a book discussion featuring Lila Krishna (writer, programmer, mom). We talk about the parenting bestseller “Hold On to Your Kids -Why Parents Need to Matter More than Peers” The key concepts in this book emphasize the primacy of the parent-child bond. While there is an increasing tendency for children to get closer to peers than parents, the book traces the pitfalls of a child being influenced by peers at the expense of a strong attachment bond with parents. We talk about the ways to strengthen the parent-child bond and influence children. We also explore how the ideas from the book play out in the Hindu community.
