    In case you haven’t heard, Vivek Ramaswamy wants Ohio to stop taxing capital gains. The Republican candidate for governor has made the proposal his opening salvo in a larger tax-cutting agenda: eliminate Ohio taxes on capital gains beginning next year, then phase out the state income tax altogether over the next decade. “If we do it,” he said last year, “founders will flock to Ohio in droves.” Ramaswamy would know: His own move from New York to the state of Ohio in late 2019 came just before one of the largest windfalls of his career, likely saving him millions of dollars in state and municipal taxes, according to CPAs, tax lawyers and tax professionals who reviewed publicly available information about the matter.     How California’s Billionaire Exodus Is Changing Who’s Richest In Other States

    California voters are set to determine the fate of California’s proposed billionaire wealth tax in November. But some of the state’s wealthiest people aren’t taking any chances and have already moved out of state, starting with its two wealthiest people, Google cofounders Larry Page and Sergey Brin. According to their representatives, Page (estimated fortune: $288 billion) and Brin ($265 billion) are now residents of Florida and Nevada, respectively. Though Forbes was unable to find updated voter registrations or declarations of domicile documenting their moves and their spokespeople declined to provide any proof, Brin and Page both recently bought houses out of state as they made their frustration with the tax known. More precisely, the 175-year-old glass company makes the hair-thin optical fiber that hauls data between servers, buildings and data centers.     Ayear ago, as AI was supposedly coding software engineers out of a job, it still couldn’t reliably book dinner. And some of the biggest tech companies around were struggling to build an assistant that could use your apps without creating more work for you.     RxBar, David Bars Founder Is Now A Billionaire

    Medici Brands, the parent company behind David protein bars and low-calorie, low-sugar candy brand HallPass, raised $250 million at a $2.25 billion valuation in early September. It was the biggest food industry deal so far this year. The transaction catapults its founder and CEO Peter Rahal, 40, who invested $20 million in the round (representing 8% of the fundraise), into the billionaire ranks. Medici’s biggest individual investor, with an estimated 70%, Rahal is now worth an estimated $1.9 billion. Rahal, who sold his first company RxBar to Kellogg for $600 million in 2017, declined to comment other than to joke that he was broke. But he has said in the past that he’s invested at least $50 million in about 100 different businesses, including ready-to-eat oats brand Mush and Olipop, which is now valued at $2 billion.     Stephen Mathew Morrow, better known by his nom de casino, Vegas Matt, looks like a caricature of a high-stakes gambler. A large, one-pound gold chain hangs around his neck with a matching bracelet on his right wrist, a Rolex SkyDweller on his left, and a Rolls-Royce Cullinan parked outside the El Cortez Hotel and Casino in Downtown Las Vegas. As he walks the casino floor on a Tuesday afternoon in September, fans flock around him every few feet, asking for a photo, telling him how much they love him and his video content. The 62-year-old Morrow posts stories every day to his 5 million followers, including 1.7 million on YouTube and 2 million on Instagram. Two middle-aged sisters are giddy when they spot him and one says: “I go to bed with you every night.” Vegas Matt responds with quick wit: “My superpower is putting women to sleep.” Inside the El Cortez’s high limit slot parlor, he says hello to vice president and general manager Adam Wiesberg, who acts like a shepherd for the flock of influencers who are filming every day at his casino. Vegas Matt pulls out his money clip with about $6,700 in one-hundred-dollar bills, peels one off and feeds it into an Ultimate X video poker machine at the bar, his favorite. “Gambling is dumb,” says Morrow, who was retired and living in Las Vegas before he became the gambling world’s top creator. “These casinos don’t build themselves.     AI Could Allow For 3-Day Workweeks And Single-Income Households, Bezos Claims

    Amazon founder Jeff Bezos said he believes artificial intelligence could generate enough productivity gains to allow Americans to have a three-day workweek or rely on a single-income for the whole household—pushing back against fears that the technology could lead to large-scale job losses for American workers. In an interview with Fox News that aired Wednesday evening, Bezos told host Bret Baier he believes AI’s productivity gains could let some people decide, “I can support my family by working three days a week.” He claimed families in two-earner households could decide they don’t need a second income and let one worker drop out.
