175 You Have the Same 24 Hours… So Why Does It Feel Like You Don’t?

I'd love to hear from you 'text the show' Welcome What if the thing holding your business back is not a lack of time, but how your attention is being used every day? In this episode, I’m sharing a shift that has made a remarkable difference to me over the last 30 days, and why it could completely change how your business grows this year. Episode Summary In this episode, I’m sharing a shift that has had a huge impact on me over the last 30 days. It is not about marketing, hiring or pricing. It is about how I’m using the time I already have and what has really been stealing my focus. I talk about my 30 day challenge to break up with my phone, what I noticed almost immediately, and how small habits were fragmenting my attention more than I realised. If you’ve been telling yourself you need more time to work on your business, this episode is a reminder that the issue may not be time at all. It may be where your attention is going. I also share why protected CEO time matters so much, how distraction can make you the bottleneck in your business, and a few practical changes that have helped me create more headspace, clarity and intentionality in my day. Key Takeaways You already have the time. The real issue is often how that time is being spent.Phone habits can quietly steal focus, creativity and decision making.Being busy is not the same as moving your business forward.Fragmented attention can make you the bottleneck in your business.Protected CEO time is essential if you want to lead well and grow sustainably.Small changes to your environment can help you break reactive habits and create more space to think.Resources How to Break Up With Your Phone in 30 DaysBe Present app - on app storesFoundations programmeIf this episode gave you something to think about, take a proper look at where your time and attention are really going. 174 3 Things I Got Wrong Building My Clinic (And What I’d Do Now)

I'd love to hear from you 'text the show' Welcome If I could have my time again as a clinic owner, what would I do differently from day one? That is the theme of today’s episode and I am not doing it alone. I invited Fiona onto the podcast. She is a strategic coach within Thrive, a Thrive member of just over three years, and a clinic owner with 25 years in business. Between us, we have 37 years of business experience, plenty of lessons, and yes, plenty of grey hairs on my side. My job as a coach is to help you lean into what you are great at and stop trying to figure it all out by yourself. If you wanted to learn the piano, you would get a piano teacher. If you wanted to learn tennis or paddle, you would get lessons. Business is no different. Episode summary In this conversation, Fiona and I share what we would do differently if we were starting a brand new clinic again. We talk about the real reasons clinic owners hit a ceiling, how mindset and leadership can become the hidden bottleneck, and why getting brilliant at the basics is what creates sustainable growth. We also get practical about rhythm and systems, hiring the right people, and why retention and lifetime value matter just as much as new patient numbers. Key takeaways Work on your mindset as a leader. I see it again and again. You can become your own biggest bottleneck without realising it.Get out of your stress response. When I make decisions from urgency, scarcity, or overwhelm, I cannot access the clarity I need to lead well.Introduce rhythm and systems earlier. If something happens more than once, it needs a process behind it so it is repeatable and consistent.Lean into your strengths and get support for the rest. You do not have to be brilliant at everything and trying to be will hold the business back.Hire A players sooner and tolerate B and C players less. Hiring wrongly is expensive, not just financially but emotionally and operationally.Get brilliant at the basics. Before you chase more leads, make sure you are nailing communication, follow up, patient experience, and outcomes.Focus on retention and lifetime value. A small improvement in follow up rates can add tens of thousands of pounds over a year.Decide what growth means for you. Bigger is not the only goal. It might be more time, more money, fewer clinical hours, or more freedom.Treat Your Business podcast is proudly sponsored by MBST, the groundbreaking technology revolutionising recovery and rehabilitation. I'd love to hear from you 'text the show' If you’ve been thinking about coming to Clinic Growth Live and you still haven’t booked your ticket, this episode is for you. I’m not here to convince you. I’m here to challenge you, because the reason you haven’t booked is rarely about the event. In this short, punchy episode, I talk about what’s really going on when you sit on the fence, and what to do if you want this year to feel different. In this episode, I cover Why “I’m too busy” is often the exact reason you need to step away for a dayThe pattern of waiting for things to calm down, and why they never doHow staying fully booked can keep you trapped in the day to dayThe difference between having a business and having a jobThe real cost of staying where you are for another three monthsThe fear that shows up when you want change, and why it’s a good signWhy you do not become “ready” first, you take action to become that personWhat growth actually means to me (profit, take home pay, time back, confidence, sustainability)What Clinic Growth Live is, and what it is notMy challenge to you If you want to grow this year, you have to start making decisions differently. 172 Employment Rights Shake-Up: What Clinic Owners Need to Know Now

I'd love to hear from you 'text the show' Welcome 👋 This week I’m really excited to bring back Laura and Steve from Peninsula HR. We recorded an episode together about eight months ago (I’ve had a baby since then, so honestly I do not know where that time has gone) and we were talking about the Employment Rights Bill that was looming at the time. Well, it’s here. It’s happening. But not everything has landed in the way we expected, and there are key changes you need to know about, with some coming in from April and others later on. The important thing is this: even if something is not due to kick in until January 2027, if you wait until then, it’s going to be too late. Laura and Steve also share a free offer for listeners, a no cost impact assessment to help you spot the gaps in your clinic and tighten things up before these changes bite. Episode Summary 🎧 I’m joined by Steve and Laura from Peninsula HR to break down the key employment law changes clinic owners need to know. We cover what’s actually coming in, when it’s happening, and what to do now so you’re not caught out later. We focus on the changes most likely to impact clinic owners, including unfair dismissal timelines, statutory sick pay changes from April, and tighter rules around zero hours contracts. The theme throughout is simple: don’t panic, get proactive, and tighten your processes now. Key Takeaways ✅ The Employment Rights Bill is now an Act, so these changes are happening, with different start dates from April onwards.Unfair dismissal is changing from a two year window to a six month window from 1 January 2027, and it is retrospective. If you are recruiting now, you need to tighten your hiring process because by January 2027, new hires may already qualify.Job descriptions, expectations, and probation processes matter more than ever.Consider moving probation reviews to three months, with the right wording and ability to extend if needed.A short service clause in contracts can be crucial so you have options during probation and early service.Statutory sick pay changes from 6 April, with day one entitlement and no qualifying days. You cannot avoid the payment change, so you must manage absence properly with clear reporting rules, return to work processes, and triggers.Zero hours contracts are not being abolished, but the rules are tightening, including entitlement to guaranteed hours if someone isTreat Your Business podcast is proudly sponsored by MBST, the groundbreaking technology revolutionising recovery and rehabilitation. 171 If Your Life Is Chaotic, Your Business Will Be Too

I'd love to hear from you 'text the show' Welcome 👋 This episode is super quick from me this week because I’ve got a message for you if you’re sitting on the fence about attending Clinic Growth Live. Whether you are or whether you are not, that’s the decision you’ve got to make. If you’re not taking the action you know you need to take, this is going to resonate. And I’m going to tell you why that might be, and what you can do to fix it. Episode Summary 🎧 I’m going to say something that might sting a little: if your life looks and feels chaotic right now, that’s exactly what your business is going to feel like too. Always. You cannot separate the two. If things feel messy in your clinic, I’m willing to bet it’s not marketing, not sales, and probably not your team. It might be a you problem. Because you bring your energy, your habits, your structure (or lack of it), and your decision making into your clinic every single day. I share a real example from my own week, where I could feel myself slipping into overwhelm and firefighting mode, jumping between tasks, being snappy, and basically running on mini eggs instead of carrot sticks. Nothing had actually gone wrong in the business, but I had no clear plan, no protected thinking time, and no structure to hold me. Here’s the shift I want you to take away: chaos is not a time problem. Chaos is a leadership problem. So I walk you through a simple framework you can use this week, using ChatGPT (or whatever AI tool you like) as a thinking partner to clear your mental load, spot where you are the bottleneck, and create a structured week with proper CEO time, boundaries, and clear priorities. And yes, if you’re still undecided about Clinic Growth Live, take this as your sign. It’s time to step up as the CEO of your life and your business. Key Takeaways ✅ If your life feels chaotic, your business will feel chaotic too, you cannot separate them. You cannot build a calm, profitable clinic from a reactive, unstructured life. You do not need more time, you need better structure, clearer priorities, and stronger decision making.Chaos is a leadership problem, and leadership starts with how you run your life.Use AI as a thinking tool, not just for captions and quick wins.A simple weekly reset can take you from overwhelmed and scattered to clear, focused, and leading again.Structure creates freedom, not Treat Your Business podcast is proudly sponsored by MBST, the groundbreaking technology revolutionising recovery and rehabilitation. 170 44% increase in patient numbers, what is happening out there?

I'd love to hear from you 'text the show' Welcome Hello and welcome to this week’s episode of the Treat Your Business podcast. I’m so excited for today’s conversation because we’re continuing on from a couple of recent episodes about the shift in patient behaviour, what people want more of now in their rehabilitation and care, and why trust and choice matter. This one is a little different from our usual strict business advice. It’s about what’s changing in the industry, the exciting developments in medical technology, what is being taught at university, and what our new graduates may be expecting from us inside our clinics. Episode Summary I’m joined again by Liz Clare and Dr Anna Schreiner to talk about what is happening with MBST, why demand is rising, and what the future could look like for conservative care. We cover MBST’s expansion into new countries, why more patients want to avoid surgery, and how MBST can complement other modalities already used in clinic. We also talk about education and access in the UK, including the University of East London project and why community programmes and research matter. Key Takeaways More patients are questioning the ‘default’ options and looking for conservative care.MBST is expanding internationally, with growing interest in regenerative approaches.UK demand is rising, alongside a bigger push for education and research. The University of East London project is focused on learning, data, and community access.MBST can complement existing clinic toolboxes rather than replace them.Resources & Links Connect with Liz Clare on LinkedInConnect with Dr Anna Schreiner on LinkedInFollow MBST UK on social mediaThanks for listening to the Treat Your Business podcast. 169 Are You Tolerating What’s Holding Your Clinic Back?

I'd love to hear from you 'text the show' Today I’m joined by Nicola, my COO in Thrive, and we’re getting into a topic that can feel a bit uncomfortable, but it is one of the most important conversations you can have if you want your clinic to grow. Episode Summary In this episode, Nicola and I talk about the things clinic owners tolerate that quietly erode performance over time. We explore why leadership can feel triggering, especially if you have come from workplaces where leadership looked more like dictating, bullying, or conflict. We also talk about how easy it is to swing too far the other way. Wanting to be liked, avoiding difficult conversations, and telling yourself you do not have time can all become patterns that keep you stuck. If you keep discussing the same person, you have tolerated it too long.Avoidance often looks like empathy, but it drains you and the business. Most “team problems” are unclear expectations. If you are not tracking numbers, nobody is.Set simple KPIs per role, for therapists: conversion, visits, occupancy.Check process and training before blaming the person.Lead tough chats with curiosity, not aggression.Leadership is learned, get support and practise it.Your clinic grows as your leadership grows.Sponsor Today’s episode is sponsored by Jane, a clinic management software and EMR. 168 The Moment I Almost Gave Up and Went Back to the NHS

I'd love to hear from you 'text the show' Welcome In today’s episode of Treat Your Business, I’m joined by Anna, a pelvic health clinic owner and a client inside my Thrive Activate programme. Anna shares the moment she seriously considered going back to the NHS after 12 years away, after her clinic hit a sudden quiet month and the panic set in. This is a real conversation about what it feels like when income dips, confidence wobbles, and you start questioning everything, plus what changed once Anna decided to get support and build a plan. Episode Summary Anna opened her clinic in late 2021. Early on, things went well, but she was undercharging and relying on organic growth. Then she hit a month where it was totally dead and she started thinking, “Do I just go back to the NHS?” She shares how she tried to fix things by working harder and doing more research, but without knowing her numbers or having a strategy, the good months and bad months felt random. We talk about what finally made her book the call, what it felt like joining Thrive, and why the weekly Q and As, monthly pods, and quarterly strategy days helped her stop feeling isolated and start making confident decisions. Anna also shares the practical changes she made, including introducing treatment plans and packages, getting clear on her numbers, and bringing in support like a VA and an accountant. Now she’s consistently fully booked and stepping into the next stage: building a team so she can reach more women and expand services. Key Takeaways A quiet month can trigger panic when your income feels unpredictable.Knowing your numbers and having a plan reduces overwhelm.Packages and treatment plans can create steadier income and better patient buy in.Support roles (VA, accountant) protect your capacity when the clinic gets busy.Community matters. Being around peers who get it makes growth feel possible.Episode Sponsor Today’s episode is sponsored by Jane, clinic management software and EMR.
