    52 Day Challenge: Luke/Acts | Day 6: Luke Chapter 6

    Today we continue the 52 Day Luke/Acts Challenge with Luke chapter 6. This chapter is packed with teaching from Jesus. He shows His authority over the Sabbath, chooses the twelve apostles, and teaches what life in His kingdom looks like. We also hear some of His most challenging words: “Love your enemies.” “Do not judge.” “Each tree is known by its own fruit.” Jesus ends the chapter with a clear picture. A wise person hears His words and builds on them. A foolish person hears, but does not obey. Let’s keep reading, learning, and building on the right foundation.

    52 Day Challenge: Luke/Acts | Day 5: Luke Chapter 5

    In Luke 5, Jesus calls His first disciples, cleanses a leper, heals a paralyzed man, and calls Levi the tax collector. This chapter reminds us that Jesus came for real people with real sin, real pain, and real need. Peter says, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man,” but Jesus does not walk away. He calls him.     Who Was Theophilus? Luke’s Case for Certainty

    e are kicking off the Luke/Acts 52 Day Challenge! In this episode, Adam and Kevin begin with Luke 1 and look at the background of the Gospel of Luke. Who wrote it? When was it written? Why does Luke say he carefully investigated eyewitness accounts? And who was Theophilus? Theophilus may have been a real person, a person of status, a patron, or possibly a believer who needed confidence in what he had been taught. His name also means “friend of God” or “lover of God,” which gives this opening a powerful meaning for all believers. Luke wrote so that Theophilus could have certainty. That makes this Gospel a strong place to begin our 52-day journey through Luke and Acts. We also talk about Gabriel’s message to Zechariah, the birth announcement of John the Baptist, the coming birth of Jesus, and how Luke 1 sets the stage for the whole story.     Samuel’s farewell address: The end of the judges | 1 Samuel 12

    In this episode of Words of Life, we study 1 Samuel 12 and Samuel’s farewell address to Israel. This chapter marks the end of the period of the judges and the beginning of Israel’s monarchy under Saul. Samuel stands before the people as prophet, judge, and faithful servant of God, reminding them of the Lord’s faithfulness, their history of rebellion, and the danger of turning aside after empty things. We discuss Samuel’s integrity, why Israel asked for a king, how Saul became king, the transition from judges to monarchy, the thunderstorm during the wheat harvest, and Samuel’s promise to keep praying for the people. Even with a king, Israel still needed to fear the Lord, serve Him faithfully, and remember the great things He had done.
