DIRTY DANCING: Reviewed!  I can’t believe it but after another week of edging the listenership with aniticipation we’re here again for another week in the Cultural Content Consumption Appraisal Hour Universe (the CCCAHU) and we’re talking about how grateful you should all be for it! It’s like clockwork. Thursday mornings without a break EVER. “It’s Thursday and you know what that means” vibes for the indefinite future! You all won’t know how good you had it until Christopher and I are chatting shit about each other on our separate podcasts, The Rag Tag Rambling Gambling Groovy Booty Show with Jeffrey Bahlo and the Good Production Quality show with Christopher Anousis. But hey, until then, let’s stay present and appreciate where we are and acknowledge … that we are on a movie streak baby!  We are going from strength to strength in this summer of dance, drama and romance! We are reviewing Dirty Dancing today. A movie that is not from 1989. Or 1988. But … yep … you guessed it … Christopher’s 1987. Wow. Well, we’re eighties babies with nineties hearts I guess. So let’s keep the 2020s podcasting going. The reviewing. The side-bar swerving. The guessing. The scoring. The off-point accumulating. The pitching. The faff, the guff and the malarkey: the holy trinity of vibes that comes with yammering on and on with your bestie on a little-known podcast hiding in the vast unknown expanse of the internet for years on end. We love it. We hope you do too.  Watch Dirty Dancing here on ITV: https://www.itv.com/watch/dirty-dancing/10a3659 Read the Dirty Dancing Wikipedia page like Jeffrey did as if it’s a damn BOOK: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dirty_Dancing Listen to the Dirty Dancing soundtrack here. Only if (unlike Christopher) you’ve … had … the time of your life … and you owe it all to the CCCAH … ok not ALL, but SOME … and you’ve NEVER felt this way before … ok maybe not NEVER but definitely not ALL THE TIME or anything: https://music.apple.com/gb/album/dirty-dancing-original-motion-picture-soundtrack/254938499 We love Roger Ebert round these parts so let’s enjoy, for balance, Ebert being quite down on Dirty Dancing, to the tune of one star: https://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/dirty-dancing-1987 A more positive review from the time from Samuel G. Freedman of the New York Times: https://www.nytimes.com/1987/08/16/movies/film-dirty-dancing-rocks-to-an-innocent-beat.html Paul McCartney … how could you do this to us: https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2026/jul/05/paul-mccartney-i-want-to-hold-your-hand-taylor-swift-wedding Madison Square Garden … how could you: https://pitchfork.com/story/madison-square-garden-disabled-its-surveillance-system-for-taylor-swifts-wedding/ A interview with the unsung goat behind Dirty Dancing (and many other dances) Kenny Ortega: https://www.insidedance.com/news-features/kenny-ortega-living-a-legacy/ Netflix made a docu-series called The Movies That Made Us and the very first episode covered the making of Dirty Dancing: https://www.netflix.com/watch/80994955 And for those who are only getting more *smitten* with, *curious* about and *excited* by the film … here is more behind the scenes footage from the making of the film: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzZyTG5UB0w Check out our website: cccappraisalhour.show Check out our e-mail: cccappraisalhour@gmail.com Check out our Twitter: twitter.com/cccappraisalpod Check out our YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@cccappraisalhour Check out our Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cccahour Special FAVE MOMENT FROM THE POD RECORD note for VIP read-the-whole-show-notes-members only: When we finally broke the news of Taylor Swift’s wedding! First podcast to do so, I think? No? Ok well still, we stand by the fact that no one has truly covered THE FALL OF T-SWIFT like we here at the CCCAH have. Late era Swift has been a depressing rollercoaster, lowest of keys.  SPOILERS BELOW FOR NEXT WEEK: https://www.disneyplus.com/en-gb/browse/entity-00d02322-3b21-4663-ae22-c2c4a2db3f9f Hosted on Acast. LEGALLY BLONDE: Reviewed!  Come one, come all! It’s time for the Cultural Content Consumption Appraisal Hour and our Legally Blonde era. We are finally about to be on fleek and slay and do all the things. And now, why do we have to go all the way back to our youths and 2001 to do these very 2020s things? Well, because …Legally Blonde is a core text. And we’re all about the core texts here on the CCCAH. It’s our all pink episode where we say goodbye to a long first half of the summer filled with sport and say hello to a long second half of the summer filled with fashion. We have a lot to learn there. Or at least one of us does. Keep your eyes peeled on the thumbnails for evidence of any growth in that area hehehe.  We are an educational programme, really. We are here to educate you and educate ourselves. We are here to get excited by the premise for a 30 second game and then get so carried away that we forget to mention how the scores work (I feel like that tidbit of information can be quite crucial for a new listener, to be quite honest with you). We are here for sidebars that last longer than the reviews, cold open that are creeping towards a sixth of the length of a full episode and SHAPELY score-guesses and score-actuals!   At the end of the day, it’s Thursday and you know what that means. It’s a perfect day. Nothing standing in my way. On this perfect day, where nothing can go wrong. It's the perfect day. Tomorrow's gonna come too soon. I could stay forever as I am. Watch Legally Blonde on Amazon Prime: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Legally-Blonde-Robert-Luketic/dp/B0GWRN8G9Z Roger Ebert is back in the shownotes baby, f**k yeah! DEAR ENGLAND EPISODE 1: Reviewed!  We need a period of calm. It’s Thursday the 16th of July. You know what that means. That means England. Dear, sweet England of ours ... either world cup finalists once again. Or they’re absolute trash traitors who should be ashamed of themselves!!! Lol joking! But yes, we are recording in limbo. Betwixt and between world cup semi finals and finals. Once more unto the breach my dear friends type shit. Potentially the last ever episode (full stop!?) of the CCCAH covering the beautiful game! Well for the haters out there, I’m sure you’re delighted. But for those of you who have enjoyed this mini-run of tangentially football-related eps (which we could put into a little specialised playlist … a mini-series, if you will!) we hope you enjoy this one and give the show a chance and all. Let’s all band together for 1 last team talk, eh lads and lasses? Lions and lionesses. Let’s walk up to the penalty spot (everything is penalties, lowest of keys) and when we get there to press play on this episode let’s turn around and remember … whether this episode sucks … or is great … we’re all doing this together. That’s right. You’re hearing me correctly. This podcast is THE FAULT OF ALL OF US! Goddamn. Ok maybe that was no Christopher-in-the-thirty-second-game-in-the-eight-minute-cold-open-that-actually-had-stoppage-time but still … I think I Southgated the shit out of that.  Watch episode 1 of Dear England here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m002qkv1/dear-england-series-1-episode-1 Watch Gareth Southgate’s new documentary “Changing The Game for Young Men” which is probably better and more important than all the fictionalising plays and shows around the England run he stewarded, as great as those runs were: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m002xk5y/gareth-southgate-changing-the-game-for-young-men Read this Guardian review of the show (Christopher did!) here: https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2026/may/24/dear-england-review-joseph-fienness-gareth-southgate-is-a-total-caricature-on-tv Read this Guardian review of the play (Jeffrey did!) here: https://www.theguardian.com/stage/2023/jun/20/dear-england-review-touching-funny-retelling-of-gareth-southgates-quiet-revolution AI Will Smith eating spaghetti! I am quite upset with my co-host for bringing this to my attention. I can be chronically online but had somehow, mercifully, missed this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbWe5k4fFWE Dele Alli speaking to Gary Neville. We might have already linked to this when we reviewed The Overlap back in the day but today it came up rather organically so we’re linking to it again. Ok? Because mental health is important. Deal with it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyDL9EUIdy0 This is the trailer for the film about Roy Keane having a barney with his coach. There should be a whole series of these. A film where Roy Keane argues with Alex Ferguson. A film where Roy Keane argues with his bestie Ian Wright. A film where Roy Keane argues with the milkman. The post-world-cup-final episode. My guy just refused and refused. No easter eggs, (he hasn’t last done that since season 1, according to him!? Need a website specifically to refute that shit) no hints, no nothing. And then we he did reveal it at the end … before the swerve … he got your boy SCURRREEDDD out here in the southernmost regions of Harrow. Might not recover from it tbh. BLACKBERRY: Reviewed!  Welcome to the show of shows! It’s Thursday the 9th of July so of course we’ll be live-reacting to the Egypt vs Argentina game from Tuesday the 7th of July and discussing a bit of England vs Mexico from Sunday the 5th of July! When you really deep it, we as a podcast are all things to all people. A football recap ramble, a half-hearted improvisatory game show, an excuse for two friends to catch up, and most importantly your one-stop shop to find out what is culturally relevant in our culturally fragmented wasteland that is the world we live in online and irl in 2026 … from two absolute hipster! Whether that’s a new album or a movie from 70 years ago!  And as they say in this very film we review today “men will no longer commute, they will communicate!” You’re darn tootin’! We don’t even commute to do the pod or maintain the friendship, at this point. It’s all just communication. It’s all just like those humans sat in their do-it-all-entertainment-set-up chairs at the end of Wall-E!  This week we are reviewing BlackBerry, a film directed by Matt Johnson in the year of our lord 2023. We have come such a long way since the year of the start-up-series 2022 (WeCrashed and Super Pumped) but now it is time to really talk about BlackBerry. Like, the time has come. The origin of the smartphone. The Canadian claim to fame! This is a special ep really, when you think about it, the CCCCAH! The quadruple C! The Canadian Cultural Content Consumption Appraisal Hour! We are also officially a Matt Johnson podcast now, so that’s good.  Watch the movie on DailyMotion because you are cool like that: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x9z6yq4 Watch this really focused Matt Johnson (the Jim Balsillie version of Matt Johnson) interview with QTV: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okb33-IJh50 Watch this really fun Matt Johnson (the Doug Fregin version of Matt Johnson) interview with Stavros Halkias: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7S8jbyExVPY Watch this really informative Matt Johnson (the Mike Lazaridis version of Matt Johnson) interview with Joel Talks About Movies: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zoZOa9xjM1g&t=14s The Guardian review of BlackBerry: https://www.theguardian.com/film/2023/oct/08/blackberry-review-smartphone-buy-opic-is-a-wild-ride Mark Kermode’s review of BlackBerry: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-lT0firll4 Check out our website: cccappraisalhour.show Check out our e-mail: cccappraisalhour@gmail.com Check out our Twitter: twitter.com/cccappraisalpod Check out our YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@cccappraisalhour Check out our Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cccahour Special FAVE MOMENT FROM THE POD RECORD note for VIP read-the-whole-show-notes-members only: When Christopher brought up how Penélope Cruz hasn’t aged a day. S00E23 ALBUMS ONLY CLUB Plan 75 By The Orchestra (For Now)

PLAN 75 BY THE ORCHESTRA (FOR NOW): Reviewed!  We swing back from our regularly scheduled programme to as special a special as we’ve done for a while. Why so special? Oh I don’t know. Let’s just say, this one will live long in the memory in terms of its placement on the calendar. Between the 25th of June and the 2nd of July, the podcast has been enjoying the summer. And we shall leave it at that.   It’s Thursday and you know what that means. But there is also a very specific and intricate mathematical formula for you to know that it means it’s a special episode rather than a regular one. Because so far it’s more often than quarterly and less often than monthly, and so it almost might seem like these pop up in your feed at random! But no. Trust us. There is both a rhyme and a reason to it. And the best bit is it’s not determined by an algorithm of any kind. It’s pure, unadulterated, intuitive and organic … vibes.  This week the podcast is reviewing the first EP by a new band called The Orchestra (For Now). Albums Only Club (we see you Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and we’re coming for your acronym!) is back for it’s third edition. Strap in music lovers because sometimes … you even get a break from the yapping and get to just listen to the music! Or … even during those moments, one of us is singing along to the music and making an ass of themselves. Something.  This is the original article from the CCCAH-approved publication DIY magazine (a magazine that, if you subscribed to it, would basically be providing you with clues and/or spoilers as to Christopher’s Albums Only Club pitches hehe) that got Christopher interested in the band: https://diymag.com/interview/the-orchestra-for-now-plan-76-november-2025 And this is the band’s first interview with DIY: https://diymag.com/interview/get-to-know-the-orchestra-for-now Hope of The States were referenced on this episode, so you might as well check out our Hope of The States special! POWER PLAYS EPISODES 4 AND 5 BY KARIM ZIDAN AND ELIE BLEIER: Reviewed!  Week 2 of the world cup! And we’ve got another heat wave to endure. But nothing hotter than a fresh episode of the Cultural Content Consumption Appraisal Hour! We end (perhaps?) our two-week long series on FOOTBALL (hahahahah sorry) by taking the ball up the pitch and … metaphor metaphor, something something, last week we did the Nike ads and this week we’re doing two episodes from a five-episode podcast series, what more do you want from me!? All the magical metaphors as per? Lads. Lasses. There is a heatwave on, okay? It’s not a joke. It’s funny but it’s not a joke. Christopher, you were sick of the weather as an object of smalltalk? Well here you go mate, it’s not small anymore, it’s the number 1 item on the NEWS! But hey, the morning newspapers are old by the time you’re commuting home from work. Could never be us. We mix the contemporary (how did that not fit into the title!?) with the timeless, the rough with the smooth, the maximalist with the minimalist, the … Christopher with the Jeffrey, you could say. And so this week a serious discussion had to be had, truth be told. Can you ever separate the art from the artist? Well if it’s as tricky as it is to separate the Christopher from the Jeffrey then good luck with that!  Episode 4 of Power Plays is entitled “The Story of Qatar's World Cup Whistleblower”: https://www.sportspolitika.news/p/qatar-world-cup-abdullah-ibhais-sports-politics-football-migrants Episode 5 of Power Plays is entitled “The Power of Football”: https://www.sportspolitika.news/p/fifa-world-cup-sports-politics-power-saudi-morocco-trump-infantino Here is Maher Mezahi talking to Tim Vickery and Dotun Adebayo of the Brazilian Shirt Name Podcast (formerly the world football phone in on the BBC) about Egypt’s playing identity. Allow me to do so again here, in full: “There’s always a healthy flow of migrant workers that will come to the US that will work for pennies on the f*****g dollar to make ends meat to work in slave-like conditions because they’re desperate. Why are they desperate? Because we’ve destroyed their countries. We’ve manipulated their finances, destroyed their economy, extracted their natural resources. We’ve kept them down and underdeveloped by design to create this chaos and then they’re desperate enough to come here and we don’t allow them to get the proper paperwork so our capital owners can justify paying them nothing” SPOILERS BELOW FOR NEXT WEEK: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x9z6yq4 Hosted on Acast. RIP THE SCRIPT | NIKE FOOTBALL: Reviewed! As Karl Marx said: “podcasts are the opium of the masses”! So I hope you’re ready for your fix today, ladies and germs! Welcome to yet another episode of the Cultural Content Consumption Appraisal Hour and that’s right, your boys are finally world cup boys once more! It’s been a long time coming. Our podcast kind of started after one of those pesky old world cup tournaments. And then we lived through a Euros, shout out. One game even got reviewed on the podcast because of course it did.  And now here we are. On the precipice of all the glory and/or tragedy. Which do you prefer listener? I think one doesn’t taste quite the same without the other, to be honest with you. But hey. What do I know? I’m just a guy. A guy who will never and has never used AI to write these shownotes. What the f**k do you take me for? I will bash these show notes out with a chisel until the day of our final episode. I’ll tell you when I’ll give up my battle against AI. When it’s AI England vs AI Croatia in the group stages. Until then, you and your mate Claude and GPT and Perplexity can all f**k off and let me live! Humanity will survive you! And the beautiful game will survive the awful politics! Separate the art and the artist! Wait this might be more material linked to next week’s episode, hold that thought! Hehehe …  So anyway. Today’s episode. Rather than a 6 minute reaction video reacting to a 6 minute ad (classic YouTube), we have an HOUR AND SIX MINUTE AUDIO PODCAST reacting to a 6 minute ad (classic CCCAH!)  And on today’s episode, if you want to have it explained why old videos look really bad in new videos and why that doesn’t necessarily mean they looked that bad originally … then look no further, this will be the podcast for you. If you want to know what the notable reaction to Harry Maguire not being included in the squad was, then this is the podcast for you. If you want to know if Bruno and Roy Keane made up … well, this isn’t the podcast for you and neither is The Overlap! Lol.  Also we should have been more confident when we were um RECALLING the previous night’s England game score haha. GUY MONTGOMERY’S GUY MONT SPELLING BEE SEASON 2 EPISODE 6: Reviewed!  Today we are really CCCAHing it up! We’re reviewing another fun game show. And that is fun because, when you really think about it … we’re a fun game show also! I mean, the fun part is arguable, but in theory, that’s what we do here on the programme. So it’s like mirror images. Maybe the fourth season of the Spelling Bee will feature a round spelling all the things we’ve reviewed on the Triple C Appraisal Hour. That remains to be seen. But Guy Montgomery seems like such a lovely bloke so I’m going to go ahead and say it’s probably a dead cert to happen.  Consider this a run out of our future Patreon today as on this episode we will basically be doing a full on GIFT episode for two of our most loyal listeners, Jonny and Nayyar. Gosh what beautiful souls our most loyal listeners are. All BOTH of them! 3 3 3  They brought this show up to me. I asked them for a specific episode. They gave me two. I had flashbacks to the Star Trek double-episode-pitch debacle and started pulling my hair out. I locked in and went with the first episode they suggested. And here we are reviewing it. Now to work through the main issue with guest pitches and/or listener pitches … WHAT IF WE HATE IT AND ALIENATE OUR GUESTS AND LISTENERS!? Well there’s only one way to find out … oh and I guess we could just lie to spare feelings? Hmm.  NAH! That’s not the CCCAH!
