    Sobriety and Sanctification: How Peter calls us to a life of well balanced living and bearing fruit.

    This episode is based on the Scripture in 1 Peter that implores us to be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:8) There are other verses referenced that are as follows: "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you" (James 4:7) "Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you like wheat" (Luke 22:31). "Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap." (Luke 21:34).  "Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour" (1 Peter 5:8 AMP).  "A long obedience in the same direction," Eugene Peterson "Early in the morning, as Jesus was on his way back to the city, he was hungry. Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing except for leaves. He said to it, "May you never bear fruit again!" Immediately the fig tree withered. (Matthew 21:18-19).
