    EP6: Is it my fault my dogs reactive?

    Joined by Amie from Canine Pawtential in Ayrshire, we delve into the topic of reactive dogs and go myth busting on some of the common, well meaning but often disappointing comments made to owners. This is a 2 piece series, broken down as there was so much ground to cover; but we also realise we have only just scratched the surface here! Alongside discussing the main points from a dog guardian perspective we also hit the topic from the point of dog trainers which leads to some differing answers and some interesting solutions. We share our own experiences as guardians of reactive dogs and things we wish we had done differently.As always, these are only our opinions based on our experience.     Delving into the archives of popular Reddit thread "Am I The A*****e?" we discuss a post put forward with regards to dog training outside. The subject of reactivity can be super subjective, and sometimes you can't do right for doing wrong by some people. We discuss our own experiences of being 'trained off' and how it's caused us to change how we train. Apologies for the sound levelling, I clearly couldn't keep still while recording this one! As always, these are only our opinions based on our experience.     Delving into social media advice we often see recommended to deal with an unwanted approaching dog. We look at the pros and cons regarding these methods paying special attention as to why we feel that throwing food may actually create more problems than it solves, and share our own experience on what has most effectively worked for us.
