10-8: Stay Motivated, Train Hard, Hold Strong - Tactical Service with Robbie Allmon of P2 Concepts

All day every day, and all night every night, first responders of all fields, as well as those in our military and other public services are standing watch and are ready to respond to an emergency at the drop of a hat. Even on the holidays. In our neck of the woods, the emergency dispatch ten code “10-8” signifies that a first responder is on-duty, and available for service, meaning they are ready to be sent to the next call. On 10-23 Podcast, we primarily focus on those who serve in law enforcement, but this Christmas, we want to bring you an episode featuring a guest who has served in several capacities, including as a Marine in the United States Marine Corps, a private military contractor, a Corrections Officer, a Police Officer, a SWAT team operator in Texas, and who is currently continuing to serve those who serve by being the owner and lead instructor of a tactical training company known as P2 Concepts – Robbie Allmon. P2 Concepts provides state-of-the-art tactical training to law enforcement agencies across the United States, and the 10-23 crew was able to sit down with Robbie back in April of this year while he was in our area for a private course and record Episode 10-8, which we are extremely excited to finally be getting out now! (We recently moved studios, which created a significant delay. Fun Fact: Episode 10-8 was the last episode of the show recorded at the original studio.) So, for all the cops, firefighters, EMS, Dispatchers, Corrections Officers, Military personnel, and all who are out serving our communities and our nation this Christmas, this one’s for you. Merry Christmas. “Stay Motivated, Train Hard, Hold Strong.” P2 Concepts motto

10-7, Pt. 2 - Blood, Guts, and Salt. Death Investigations - with Detective Kiley Flores

NEW EPISODE ALERT! After a months-long hiatus, the 10-23 Podcast crew is back, sharing stories from on-scene, to on-air, with those who were there! This episode was delayed due to the fact that all of our staff have full-time jobs other than podcast producing, and responsibilities outside of work that can also be time-consuming. But we have some exciting things in the works (we might be collaborating with another business for a new recording studio soon) so stay tuned for more on that... Although we're always busy, we know the show must go on. Therefore, we're proud to announce the long awaited return of Detective Kiley Flores to the show! Out of all the episodes we've done so far, Detective Flores is the one we've received the most requests for a part 2 of. And it makes sense. People can't get enough of the salt. In 10-7, Part 2, Detective Flores discusses a range of topics with us, with an emphasis on firsthand experiences she has had working various death investigations, and we also discuss an almost-dead investigation, and we discuss some instances of the opposite of death investigations - Lifesaving Actions. We end the episode by briefly discussing the Officer Down Memorial Page, and the good work their organization is doing every day to help memorialize heroes who gave everything in the service of their communities. As always, Detective Flores gives us the non-sugarcoated, extra salty truth we've come to expect from her, and her insights into death, life, and gender confusion remind us all to stay vigilant, enjoy the good times, and be strong in the hard times no matter what. Stay tuned for Episode 10-7, Part 3 - which will have a much shorter wait time than this one did, where we will conclude Episode 10-7, with Detective Kiley Flores. Remember: "Death Comes in Threes" Enjoy!

  3. Episode 10-7, Part I: From Prison, to Jail, to Street Cop, to Detective. A Deep Dive into the Salt - with Kiley Flores

    07/16/2024

Episode 10-7, Part I: From Prison, to Jail, to Street Cop, to Detective. A Deep Dive into the Salt - with Kiley Flores

Our guest for this episode is none other than the saltiest person the 10-23 crew has ever known - Detective Kiley Flores. Flores has spent around a decade in law enforcement in some form or fashion, and at the time of this recording, she serves as a Detective with a rural County Sheriff's Office in Texas. She is assigned to work all felony cases and major crimes that occur in her jurisdiction, and she also helps run her agency's registered sex offender program and serves as the Adult Program Coordinator for the local community Crime Stoppers organization in her County. We've been saving Flores for this episode for one particular reason: In our neck of the woods, 10-7 means someone on-scene is deceased, and if there's one cop we know who has dealt with A LOT of dead bodies, it's Kiley Flores, making her the ideal guest for Episode 10-7. So, sit back, relax, and brace yourself for a significant bleeping time with Detective Kiley Flores. In Part I, we begin with discussing Flores' origin story, and some of her time serving as a Corrections Officer in both the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (prison) and at a County Jail in Texas before becoming a street cop. Ep 10-5: From Counter-Intelligence to Transnational Repression with FBI Special Agent Chris Nicolaus

Recently, the 10-23 crew got an opportunity to sit down with active-duty FBI Special Agent Chris Nicolaus. Chris spent some time serving in the United States Army before transitioning from the military to federal law enforcement, and then spent 18 years working Counter-Intelligence based out of the FBI's Washington Field Office, and recently transferred here to Texas to continue working in a slightly different assignment that we won't detail here due to his active work at the time of this episode's release. In this episode, Chris spoke with us about the counter-intel world, some notable FBI history, a little-known about but extremely prevalent crime known as Transnational Repression, and much more. Chris also speaks to how the FBI operates as both an Intelligence Agency and a Federal Law Enforcement Agency. If you fancy yourself a fan of real-world spy stuff, and want to learn more about the FBI and some of the lesser-known but extremely prevalent criminal acts they address, this episode is for you. We'd also like to extend a special thank-you to Ms. Katie Chaumont of the FBI - Dallas Division - Public Affairs Office for working with us and doing all of the necessary legwork and jumping through all of the necessary hoops for us to be able to host and publish an episode with an active-duty FBI Agent speaking from his official capacity. Katie's a rockstar and her help with this cannot be understated. With all that said, and without further ado, please enjoy 10-23 Podcast, Episode 10-5, with FBI Special Agent Chris Nicolaus!

10-23 Podcast: Episode 10-3 - with Ashley Fithen

In this episode, we introduce the last but certainly not least member of the 10-23 Podcast crew - Ashley Fithen. Ashley does all the technical wizardry required to bring 10-23 Podcast to life, and without her, this operation would be nothing more than a few cops getting together to share war stories and make wild scientifically inaccurate claims and provide unpopular opinions to one another. While not a cop, Ashley has an unusual number of crazy stories from her own life, including but not limited to: Being a newspaper reporter/Editor in Chief and getting to cover breaking news stories and rub shoulders with famous people. Being a teacher in schools with some of the roughest kids the world has to offer. Living in Haiti during one of the most turbulent times in the nation's history. At the time Ashley was living in Haiti, parts of the country were considered by global security experts to be some of the most dangerous places on the planet. Returning from a third-world country and transitioning to life back in the U.S.A. Becoming a podcast wizard/sorceress. And a couple fun facts about Ashley that we didn't cover in this episode, but that are worth mentioning: Ashley is also a talented actress who has appeared on stage in local productions. She has directed an amateur short film that was written by one of the worst writers in the industry - who she is also married to. Aside from being published in news articles, Ashley is also a published author with her work featured in the Texas High Plains Writers annual anthology series. Ashley placed second in a local Texas knife-throwing competition, and she has been formally trained to wield a Japanese katana sword. Ashley plays both electric and acoustic guitar, drums, ukulele, and piano. And probably some other stuff too. Oh, and she sings. Ashley can also juggle, ride a unicycle, and eat fire. And no that is not a joke. She can literally do these things. And she packs a double stack 9mm on days ending in Y. So, get comfortable, grab some Haitian plantain chips, and enjoy Episode 10-3, with Ashley Fithen!
