Talking Back to the Teacher

Dwayne Ham

This podcast consists of multiple interviews with amazing adults. The one thing they have in common? They are all my former students, co-laborers in the education field, or individuals who value educators. The bond between teacher and student is one of my favorites. I am excited to invite dozens of former students along on this journey as we reconnect and hear some of their best memories! The memories, stories, and laugh will be plenty! I cannot wait to share these interviews! #Education #Educators #Teachers #Teacher #TalkingBackToTheTeacher #HamRadio #talkingbacktotheteacherpodcast #podcast

    Toshe Phillips: One of One

Welcome to Talking Back to the Teacher Podcast Season 4 Episode 74 One of One w/ Toshe Phillips   This is a stroll down memory lane. When I first changed mymajor to education, I found myself with an ample amount of interactions with teenagers. I met today’s guest when I first started attending a church regularly in Athens, OH. The selling point was, “Yo, there’s black people.”  That was 20+ years ago and to be honest, it does NOT feel like that much time has flown by. It’s hard to accept she is a grown entrepreneur, business owner, wife, mother, and more. Sometimes, she is still that teen I would see a few times a week in Athens, or in The Plains. We go back to when I was carrying my Sony Cybershotaround trying to capture moments of my “college experience.”  I may have to dig some up just for nostalgiaand laughs. My guest is Toshe Phillips. You can call her Shay. She hailsfrom Ohio… but currently is thriving in the Atlanta, Georgia area.  She is a big sis, but also kind of like my little sis from way back... and she doesn’t play at all. She is a creator. She is trained and has an eye for… welllet’s just say she has an eye for everything!   She met me at the most transformative part of my life, todate, and we will explain to you how we survived in spaces that didn’t look like we belonged. In The KNICK of Time w/ Michael Houston & Tom Martens (Episode 73)

Welcome to Talking Back to the Teacher Podcast Season 4 Episode 73 Michael Houston: In the KNICK of Time   This is a stroll down memory lane. Lets go back to 2006school year. That’s 2006-2007. This is my 2nd year teaching. We just had this crazy long summer break since the start of the school year was pushed back by a couple weeks. So I was out before memorial day, and found myself witha 11+ week summer. Over the summer, I was asked if I had any interest in coaching basketball. Long story short, I took the job, and Michael aka Mikey aka Spotz was a player on that team. When we first discussed recording a couple years ago, wewanted to have another teacher of his come on. That was Tom Martens aka Mr. Martens. I threw it out there to him as we started recording and he joined! So 3 of us laughed and reminisced. We discuss the Knicks and how they pulled off their first NBA championship in 50+ years. And then we discuss high school and our humble basketball beginnings as a player and coach. Lessons learned and how we continued to grow from that monumental 2006-2007 school year.
