ArtMe makes club music that takes its time. Tracks usually start with pads and drums. Sometimes the whole body of a song arrives in fifteen minutes; sometimes it waits for weeks among 50+ demos until it's ready. The toolkit is small and loved: Prophet, Minimoog and Juno sounds via Arturia, Diva and Serum, a Traktor S4 for the long sets (he has a soft spot for German engineering). Tech house and techno when the night picks up, organic and melodic when the sun goes down. Harsh, buzzing leads are not invited. Melody comes first. Written, mixed and mastered by ArtMe. When he isn't in the studio, he's usually behind a camera.

    1990 (Snippet)

    Somebody painted DAWN OF PEACE on the Berlin Wall in very tidy letters. I photographed it and then made the least peaceful thing I could. 1990 is concrete, steel and a kick that does not negotiate. The year belongs to the Wall. The noise belongs to the buildings next to it. This is a 90-second preview. The full track is on its way to the stores. Written, mixed and mastered by ArtMe. The photo on the cover is mine too.

    Underwater (Snippet)

    Everything sounds better from under the water. Arguments, traffic, Mondays. Underwater is that soft, weightless moment, held for as long as I could hold my breath. No words.     Just 135 BPM, eight minutes, and a name borrowed from a Persian king. The cover is Persepolis: stone doorways that have been standing for two and a half thousand years. I wanted the track to feel like that. Heavy, patient, built to last the whole set. It's the fastest and darkest thing I've made, and it's the one I'd save for the moment the room is ready.     Mainha (Cadê nosso norte) (Snippet)

    "Mainha" is what people in Brazil call their mom. "Cadê nosso norte?" means "where is our north?" This is my favourite track, and the most personal one. The vocal talks to a mother about the world outside: people crying, nobody listening, everyone trying to win and run. Lost, left to luck, asking where our direction went. And in between all of that, one word keeps coming back: mãe. For me it's a song about the person who stays your north when everything else spins.
