Homily for 29th Sunday, cycle A, Making God’s Kingdom present through our participation in the public sphere

This is the homily I preached for the 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time Cycle A. The homily focuses on the Gospel reading in Matthew where the Jesus is challenged about paying the census tax to Caesar.  His response turns the tables on those challenging him. It also guides us on how we’re to participate in public life so we can make the Kingdom of God present in the world by advocating for laws and policies that are in line with our Catholic faith.
