Episode 14: Myth in Media - Hercules

Today we're giving ya'll the second episode in our Myth in Media series! We're talking about one of Taimah & Caroline's favorite Disney movies: Hercules (Honey you mean HUNKules). If you love Danny DeVito and agree that Meg is the best Disney princess, this is the episode for you. We'll discuss whether it's accurate (definitely not) and how much we like it (Caroline has the whole movie memorized). As always, thanks for listening! Happy Easter! Today's episode is all about Jesus' death. While Taimah tells the Passion story Caroline gets to learn all about crucifixion and discuss the similarities between your favorite Nazarine and Norse mythology's Baldur. The Ghost of Christmas Future (aka editing Taimah) makes several guest appearances in this episode so look forward to that, and we'll be back real soon with a new episode for your earholes. Episode 12: The Incest Episode

If your favorite part of Game of Thrones was the Cersei/Jamie Lannister romance, then boy do we have an episode for you! Today Taimah talks about a little-known Bible story that takes place right after the events of Sodom and Gomorrah (spoilers: it's basically Israelite propaganda against the Ammonites and the Moabites), and Caroline gives a new meaning to the term "Oedipus complex". As always, thanks for listening! Don't forget to follow the podcast so you can hear new episodes as soon as they drop. Episode 11: Kidnap Schmidnap - Hades and Persephone

Welcome back to another episode where we debate the age-old question: is Hades and Persephone a better love story than Twilight? We discuss the myth of the Rape of Persephone (NOT WHAT YOU THINK IT MEANS WE PROMISE), the hymn to Demeter, and modern interpretations of this myth that have made it incredibly popular, but also incredibly misunderstood (I'm looking at you, Lore Olympus). As always, thanks for listening! Don't forget to follow the podcast so you can hear new episodes as soon as they drop. Episode 9: This Story Isn't About You - Dido and the Sabine Women

Someone said that the only two things you can be sure of in life are death and taxes, but I would like to propose another: you can always be sure that a man will always talk about himself. In today's episode we are taking two stories from early Roman history and talking about the amazing women who were not given a fair telling at the time. Trigger warning for sexual assault and suicide - these women did not have it easy. As always, thanks so much for listening, ya'll are the real MVPs. Don't forget to follow the podcast so you can hear new episodes as soon as they drop. Also, follow all our socials @thegodspod, and if you feel like saying hi, our email is girlsandgods@gmail.com!

We cover Abrahamic religions, of course, the Greek and Norse afterlives, with a bit of Celtic and Egyptian thrown in just for fun. If you stick around till the end of the episode, you can hear us talk about what we think of death, and how Caroline wants to be bird shit someday. As always, thanks for listening!
