    Ep. 11 - No Holds Barred (1989)

    Mark and Taylor discuss NO HOLDS BARRED (1989), the movie that was meant to showcase Hulk Hogan's acting chops and launch his career as Hollywood's new leading man. Hulk stars as Rip, the mega-popular WWF champion who is fiercely loyal to the TV network he wrestles for. But a new evil dude (Kurt Fuller) takes over as head of a rival network, and he desperately wants to lure Rip so he can dominate TV ratings. It's all very silly, so there's a lot to talk about. Injured costars, an inexplicable reference to IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT (1934), and the many bizarre lies that Hulk Hogan's told over the years. “What Hulk, or his advisors, have done is taken a multimillion dollar image and really trashed it better than anybody else could do it for them.” - Roger Ebert "There are some movies you can’t get off IMDb no matter how hard you try.     Ep. 10 - The Good Son (1993)

    Mark and Taylor are back from hiatus to discuss THE GOOD SON (1993), wherein the world's most bankable child star plays a cigarette-smoking, murderous psychopath. The story follows a grieving young boy (Elijah Wood) who goes to visit his aunt and uncle's family while his father leaves the country on an urgent business trip. While there, he meets his cousin (Macaulay Culkin), who is definitely not evil personified. Reviews read more like lists of grievances, with critics viscerally rejecting the movie and condemning any/all adults who allowed the involvement of children. Ironically, the only adult who wanted Macaulay to be involved was his manager/father, who refused to sign the contract for HOME ALONE 2: LOST IN NEW YORK (1992) unless the studio agreed to cast him. Three directors, two casts, a slew of producers, an absurd amount of rewrites and revisions, an unsuccessful intervention from John Hughes, and a 60-person crew left jobless at Christmastime. Worth it.     Ep. 9 - Street Fighter (1994)

    Mark and Taylor discuss STREET FIGHTER (1994), a movie based on the video game series of the same name. This baffling piece of cinema starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, Raul Julia, and Kylie Minogue currently sits at 11% on Rotten Tomatoes. Capcom wanted a big action star for the role of Guile, so naturally, they wound up choosing all-American JCVD. Production was plagued by a terminal illness, an impending military coup, and a leading man who rarely showed up to the set.     Ep. 8 - Spice World (1997)

    Mark and Taylor discuss SPICE WORLD (1997), which currently sits at 35% on Rotten Tomatoes. The Spice Girls starred as fictionalized versions of themselves in a tongue-in-cheek, super-British mockumentary/fantasy/sci-fi that essentially serves as a 90-minute music video. Spicemania was running wild, and not even celebrities were immune. The script was rewritten on the fly to accomodate every famous face that wanted to be in it — including Elton John, Elvis Costello, and Gary Oldman. Everyone involved expected the movie to get bad reviews — and it did — but it inspired a scathing vitrolic rant from Roger Ebert in a notable departure from his usual diplomatic style.  All this, plus the Spice Girls' trip to the Cannes Film Festival, Sony demanding subtitles for just one Spice Girl, and the aliens that groped Scary Spice.     Mark and Taylor discuss BASIC INSTINCT (1992), which currently sits at 56% on Rotten Tomatoes. Now known for Sharon Stone's oft-parodied interrogation scene, the movie inspired international protests — but not for the reasons you might think. This absurd movie instantly became part of the zeitgeist in 1992. It earned one actor a part in JURASSIC PARK (1993), cost another actor custody of their child, and the hullabaloo around it led to the citizen's arrest of 30+ people in San Francisco.  "She's evil!     Mark and Taylor discuss JACKASS: THE MOVIE (2002), which scored 49% on Rotten Tomatoes. Each subsequent installment got a higher score than the last, so critics either got smarter or dumber, depending on your perspective. We get into the subtle humor that the franchise is known for, the 10ish different kinds of skits that comprise Jackass, each time Johnny Knoxville came close to being mortally wounded on the set.  As Richard Roeper said, it's "a disgusting, repulsive, grotesque spectacle, but it's also hilarious and provocative.     Ep. 5 - Batman Forever (1995)

    Mark and Taylor discuss BATMAN FOREVER (1995), which scored 39% on Rotten Tomatoes. After Tim Burton was asked to kindly refrain from making more Batman movies, director Joel Schumacher took over the franchise. The decision led to three Oscar nominations, a record-breaking box office, and the infamous Bat Nipple Controversy. Schumacher's takeover also led to a laundry list of casting changes. We cover the people who were almost in it — including Michael Keaton, Robin Williams, Marlon Wayans, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Billy Dee Williams — and why they weren't. We also get into the people who were in it and ended up hating each other — including Joel Schumacher's highly publicized on-set issues with Val Kilmer, and the time Tommy Lee Jones told Jim Carrey, "I cannot sanction your buffoonery." We talk about the legacy of shark movies, the agent who didn’t want their client to play a chef, and Taylor’s irrational afraid of swimming pools. David Arquette and Scott Caan star as two small-town best friends/wrestling fans who witness their hero, Jimmy King (Oliver Platt), get screw-jobbed out of his WCW championship, so they decide to help the King regain his glory. The promotional efforts around the movie caused a kerfuffle in the pro wrestling industry, with many claiming it ultimately caused the death of WCW. Many familiar faces permeate the screen, including Martin Landau, Sting, and a then-unknown John Cena. We discuss the controversy that followed David Arquette for 20+ years, movie soundtrack tropes, and the practicality of a triple cage.     Two married dummies (Mark and Taylor) discuss AIRHEADS (1994), which scored a paltry 29% on RT. Brendan Fraser, Steve Buscemi, and Adam Sandler star as an unsuccessful rock band, The Lone Rangers. Desperate to get their demo played on the air, the group breaks into a radio station. But when met with resistance, they wind up holding the station employees hostage with realistic toy guns. The reviews were largely negative, but it's almost universally loved by people who've, at one time or another, drank in a van parked outside of an all-ages show. We discuss AIRHEADS, how it connects to the punk satire site The Hard Times, what critics misunderstood, LIVING IN OBLIVION (1995), and Nakatomi Plaza.
