7 Core Habits That Change My Mental State | My Top Systems for Winning the Day!

S3 Ep. 34 Every productive person I’ve met has little habits they do that make them feel alive, full, whole and present. Habits are great, but systems are where you can truly build and stay ahead. Let me show you some systems I have that always get me back on track to feeling like I am winning. My day starts the night before: So I prep sandwiches, then off to bed with me at a decent hour. Habit stacking in the early morning! During the time my kettle is boiling the water, I reset all my kitchen systems. Then, I take my morning vitamins (which are next to the kettle!) I get dressed and fix up my hair. I’m talking, a casual matching set, with braids or a baseball hat, not a full on gown and blowout (just something that isn’t my PJs and messy hair!) This one may sound radical but I eat regular meals. I make my bed! The aesthetics of my master bedroom matter a lot to me, so I make my bed every morning. This habit claims that the day has begun and the night is over! Movement. Movement is part of my daily routine! I am either stretching, squatting, walking or going to the gym. Movement is mental health for me! I read the Word and Pray, every DAY. This is the biggest block of my habits. I expose my mind to the Word, by reading or listening to it, and I pray daily with carve in some time to actually listen to Him and not just list off my requests to Him! Something I’m Loving: This is very unusual for me, but I accidentally bought Strawberry flavored Creatine. I have been loving it in my whipped cream! Thriving In The Dreaded In-Law Relationship | Doing Things Differently with your Mother-In-Law

S3 Ep. 33 If you’re married, chances are, you have a mother-in-law. Let’s talk about that.  When I was a teenager, I began to realize most MIL and DIL relationships were tense and unwelcoming: I knew I wanted something different for myself. When I was a young bride, my mom told me that over time, I would begin to appreciate the way my in-laws conducted themselves, even if it was different from me. She was right! Here are some guidelines for managing the relationship with your daughter-in-law: Be encouraging, not corrective. Offer help, not advice. Do not be easily offended. Here are some guidelines for managing the relationship with your mother-in-law: Give her freedom to be a loving grandmother. Give grandma some guidelines, but don’t be rigid. Honor her as she is the mother of the man you fell in love with! For both: We repeat what we do not repair. Try to model your relationship with your mother-in-law how you’d like to have a relationship with your future daughter-in-law. “The goal is not to think alike, but to think together.” is a quote I try to hold onto! Something I’m Loving: I have been watching makeup tutorials and I have been just loving trying out classic cat-eye eyeliner look. My eyes are sore because of the amount of tries I washed off, but it has been a fun little project! Check out the sponsors for my show! Check out the Happy Household Course. Worshipping as A Family | The Most Important Family Rhythm in a Christian Household

S3 Ep. 32 Something near and dear to my heart: family worship.  Whether it’s gathering to read Scripture, worship through song, or simply stopping our busy lives to pray together, having that intentional time as a family has been an anchor for us over the years. 1 Corinthians 10:31 “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” This practice has evolved in our home as life doesn’t always allow for perfect routines (especially with kids in different seasons and schedules!), but the heart behind it has stayed the same: We make time to seek God together. Even when it looks messy or unconventional, this time is still important. Psalm 29:2 “Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.”  Something I’m Loving: This stage of life with my teenagers. I used to wonder what it would be like with no more little ones in the house… but honestly? I’m loving it more than I imagined, and I’m so thankful for the deep conversations, laughter, and growth we get to experience in this season. Check out the sponsors for my show! Confronting Spiritual Ruts | A Guide to Returning to a Fiery Relationship with God

S3 Ep. 31 “Blah” is a word I have used to describe my walk with the Lord in seasons of my life. Of course, He is not “Blah” but my pursuit, my intimacy, my reliance on Him, my daily worship of Him and my attention to His will turns lukewarm. We are called to love Him with our heart, soul and MIND. Typically, our minds crave what we are already eating. If we consume things of this world, our minds crave more; but if we consume things of the Lord, we crave Him. When you pray, are you allowing the Lord to talk to you? Or, is the conversation one sided? Is your life formulated around meditating on His Word? Are you doing your side of keeping up the relationship with the Lord? Something I’m Loving: This new app I downloaded, called Be Present. With this app, you can set a limit to the amount of screen time you are able to partake in daily. For example, I can only open Instagram at certain times of the day and a certain amount per day. I am loving the reminder to be present and guardrails against being caught in the black hole of social media and online shopping! Check out the sponsors for my show!
