Ep.106 - Katherine Wolf on Faith, Generosity & the Gift of Belonging

What if the greatest gift we could offer others isn't our money, but a place to belong? After surviving a catastrophic stroke at just 26 years old, Katherine Wolf's life changed in ways she never imagined. Today, as an author, speaker, and co-founder of Hope Heals, she's helping families affected by disabilities experience dignity, community, and hope. In this episode of Rich Young & Powerful, Katherine joins Andrew McNair to explore what it means to live generously, embrace the life God has given us, and use our resources to make room for others. Katherine shares the heart behind Hope Heals Camp, where families affected by disabilities attend completely free of charge, and MEND Coffee and Goods, an Atlanta coffee shop creating meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities. They also discuss why comparison steals joy, what churches can do to become more welcoming, and why personally serving others can transform our understanding of generosity. Whether you're passionate about philanthropy, navigating life's unexpected challenges, or seeking greater purpose in your faith, this conversation offers a meaningful perspective on what it means to give. Ep.105 - Donor-Advised Funds Explained: Reduce Taxes & Build a Giving Legacy

What if you could make a greater charitable impact while being more intentional about your taxes and the legacy you leave behind? Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) offer a way to bring generosity, financial strategy, and long-term purpose together. In this episode of Rich Young & Powerful, Andrew McNair explains how donor-advised funds work, why high-income earners and high-net-worth families use them, and how they can support a thoughtful approach to charitable giving. Whether you're considering donating appreciated investments, navigating a high-income year, or exploring alternatives to a private foundation, understanding DAFs could help you make more informed decisions about your philanthropic future. In this episode, you'll discover: •    What a donor-advised fund is and how it works •    How DAFs can provide charitable tax benefits •    Why donating appreciated assets may be more tax-efficient than selling them first •    How to contribute now and recommend charitable grants over time •    When a DAF might make sense after a financial windfall •    How donor-advised funds compare with private foundations •    Important limitations and considerations before opening a DAF But beyond the financial advantages, Andrew shares a deeper perspective on generosity and the responsibility that comes with wealth. Because building wealth is only part of the story. What matters is the impact we choose to make with it. Ep.104 - Dr. Les Parrott: What Makes a Strong Marriage? Dr. Les Parrott on Money, Love & Commitment

What truly makes a marriage strong? Is it communication, financial stability, or something deeper? In this episode of Rich Young & Powerful, Andrew McNair welcomes clinical psychologist and bestselling author Dr. Les Parrott for a meaningful conversation about marriage, money, love, and the power of connection. Dr. Parrott shares why couples often aren't fighting about money itself, but rather what money represents. From security and freedom to trust and control, our financial habits often reveal deeper beliefs shaped by our upbringing and experiences. Together, Andrew and Dr. Parrott explore: •    Why money can become a source of conflict in marriage •    How childhood experiences shape our financial perspectives •    The difference between commitment and emotional connection •    Why curiosity and empathy are essential to healthy relationships •    How couples can approach generosity and giving together •    What it means to love and serve others through the example of Jesus Dr. Parrott also introduces HeartChart, a free relationship assessment designed to help individuals better understand their relationships and identify opportunities for growth. Whether you're newly married, have spent decades building a life together, or simply want to strengthen the relationships that matter most, this conversation offers practical wisdom on building a more intentional, connected, and fulfilling life. Because true success isn't just about what we accumulate. It's also about the relationships we nurture and the impact we leave behind. Ep.103 - Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs): A Tax-Smart Way to Give Generously

What if part of your retirement strategy could also become part of your generosity strategy? A Qualified Charitable Distribution, or QCD, allows eligible IRA owners to give directly from an IRA to a qualifying charity. When structured correctly, that gift may be excluded from taxable income and can also count toward a required minimum distribution. For someone who is already giving to a church, ministry, or nonprofit, that can make QCDs an important intersection of retirement planning, tax strategy, stewardship, and generosity. In this episode of Rich Young & Powerful, Andrew McNair explains how QCDs work, who may qualify, why giving directly from an IRA matters, and how charitable giving can fit into a larger retirement-income strategy. You'll learn: • What a Qualified Charitable Distribution is • How QCDs interact with required minimum distributions • Why giving directly from an IRA can matter for taxes • How QCDs may help manage taxable income • Why the standard deduction can make QCDs especially useful for some charitable givers • How to properly send a QCD to a church or qualifying charity • How generosity and financial stewardship can work together Building wealth is only part of the journey. The greater question is what we choose to do with what we've been given. Listen now and consider whether a QCD could become part of your own strategy for giving intentionally. Generosity isn't simply about giving more. It's about becoming more intentional with everything you've been entrusted with. Ep.102 - How to Increase Your Tithing Exponenrially

What if 10% isn't the finish line of generosity but the starting point? In this episode of Rich Young & Powerful, Andrew McNair explores what it means to grow from simply tithing to living a life of increasing generosity. Drawing from 2 Corinthians 9, Andrew looks at the biblical picture of sowing, multiplication, and stewardship and why the resources God provides aren't meant only to be consumed or accumulated, but also used to make an impact. He also shares practical ways to create more room for generosity as your income changes, including how to think differently about raises, cost-of-living adjustments, savings, and lifestyle increases. In this episode: • Why generosity requires faith • What Paul meant by God supplying “seed to the sower” • Why the tithe is a foundation, not a ceiling • How lifestyle inflation can quietly limit generosity • Practical ways to increase your giving as your income grows • Why stewardship begins with recognizing who owns it all Generosity isn't simply about giving more. It's about becoming more intentional with everything you've been entrusted with. Andrew also shares more about his journey toward generosity in his book, The Giving Crisis. Ep.101 - Charitable Remainder Trusts: Give More, Create Income & Leave a Legacy

What if an appreciated asset could provide income for you today and ultimately create a lasting impact for a cause you care about? A Charitable Remainder Trust, or CRT, is an estate and charitable-giving strategy designed for people who want to be generous without simply giving an asset away and receiving nothing from it during their lifetime. In this episode of Rich Young & Powerful, Andrew McNair breaks down how Charitable Remainder Trusts work and why they may appeal to families with highly appreciated assets who also have a desire to give. You’ll learn: • What a Charitable Remainder Trust is and who may benefit from one • How appreciated assets can be transferred into a CRT • How the trust can create an income stream for the donor or other beneficiaries • The role charitable tax deductions and capital gains considerations can play • Why the assets placed into a CRT are irrevocable • What happens to the remaining assets at the end of the trust term • Important limitations and tradeoffs to understand before establishing one • Why estate, tax, investment, and charitable professionals may all need to be part of the conversation A CRT isn't right for everyone. But for someone who has accumulated significant wealth and wants that wealth to accomplish more than simply being consumed, it can create an intersection between income, generosity, stewardship, and legacy. Because ultimately, wealth isn't only about what you keep. It's about what you can do with what you've been given. Rich Young & Powerful explores wealth, faith, generosity, purpose, and what it means to invest your life into something that will outlive it. Find more resources at RichYoungPowerful.com/blog. Ep.100 - What Is Investing

What does it really mean to invest and why should you? In this episode of Rich Young & Powerful, Andrew McNair breaks investing down to its foundation: putting your money in motion so it has the opportunity to multiply. Using simple illustrations of planting seeds, rolling a snowball and owning a beach house, Andrew explains how compounding works, the two primary ways investments can create returns, and why diversification matters. But investing isn’t just about accumulating more. Andrew explores investing through the lens of stewardship—wisely managing the resources God has entrusted to you so you can provide for your family, give more generously and create an impact that extends beyond your own lifetime. In this episode, you’ll learn: •    What investing actually means •    Why inflation makes growing your money important •    How compounding can multiply wealth over time •    The difference between appreciation and investment income •    Why diversification matters •    Why there is no single “perfect” investment •    How investing can become part of faithful stewardship The goal isn’t simply to become wealthier. It’s to become a better steward of what you’ve been given and ultimately use those resources for something greater than yourself. Ep.99 - Private Placement Life Insurance

For families with significant wealth, stewardship is about more than simply growing assets. It also means thinking intentionally about taxes, legacy, generosity, and how wealth can be structured to serve a greater purpose. In this episode of Rich Young & Powerful, Andrew McNair explores Private Placement Life Insurance (PPLI)—an advanced financial strategy designed primarily for high-net-worth investors seeking more tax-efficient ways to grow, access, and eventually transfer wealth. Andrew explains how PPLI works, why some affluent families use it to hold alternative investments, and how its life-insurance structure can potentially provide tax-deferred growth, tax-advantaged access to cash value, and estate-planning opportunities. In this episode: • What Private Placement Life Insurance actually is • Why PPLI may appeal to investors facing significant income and capital-gains taxes • How investments such as private equity, hedge funds, REITs, venture capital, and other alternatives may fit within a PPLI structure • The potential role of PPLI in estate and legacy planning • Why fees, insurance costs, diversification requirements, and investor-control rules matter • Who may be an appropriate candidate for PPLI • The importance of avoiding Modified Endowment Contract (MEC) problems • Why PPLI should be coordinated with your broader financial, tax, estate, and philanthropic strategy PPLI is not designed for everyone. But for families managing significant wealth, it raises a larger question: How can you structure what you've been entrusted with wisely—not simply to accumulate more, but to preserve, transfer, give, and create lasting impact? Andrew closes by reflecting on his own journey from ambition and accumulation toward generosity and the belief that wealth is ultimately something we are called to steward well. Follow Rich Young & Powerful for conversations about wealth, stewardship, generosity, purpose, and building a legacy that outlives you. Invest your life into something that will outlive it. Now that's living to give. This content is for educational purposes only and should not be considered individualized tax, legal, insurance, or investment advice.
