The annual first-day-of-school photo is back — fresh clothes, big smiles, oversized backpacks and those hilarious little signs announcing what kids want to be when they grow up. Here are some of the funniest first-day pictures parents have shared over the years. SHOULD ALL SCREENS BE BANNED? School is back — but should screens stay out of the classroom too? The trade war has now reached a place nobody wanted it to go — toilet paper. Because apparently international diplomacy has officially gone down the tubes. CANADA STRONG PASS. There are growing calls to make the Canada Strong Pass permanent after it helped get Canadians travelling and spending this summer. Which raises the obvious question: should we make it permanent — or do we enjoy something too much before the government takes it away? NEW MANITOBA LICENCE PLATE. Manitoba is getting another specialty licence plate next year, giving drivers yet another way to tell the world what they support. Parents might recognize The Cat in the Hat as a childhood favourite, but a new online trend involving the character has sparked a warning as kids head back to school. A disturbing Cat in the Hat trend is spreading across North America, prompting police and schools in the United States to investigate threatening posts. There doesn’t appear to be a Canadian police warning yet — but with kids heading back to school, parents may want to know what their kids could encounter online. WOMAN TAKING PICTURES MAY SERVE MORE TIME THAN LINDSAY CLANCY HERSELF! A woman who took photos of a disturbing scene is now facing a punishment that could potentially keep her behind bars longer than convicted child killer Lindsay Clancy. The case raises some fascinating questions about what you can legally photograph — and what can happen when you cross that line. MANITOBA GETS A FIRST — DRIVE-THRU ONLY! Forget grabbing a table — this new Manitoba restaurant is taking the fast-food concept to the extreme with no dining room whatsoever, making it a Canadian first for the arches.
