This podcast provided a succinct overview of basic theology, church history, scripture, and other topics covered in seminary. I’m using it as a companion to courses I’m taking to review the overarching themes and trajectories. It’s especially helpful for getting the broad sweep of history when taking a class with a professor who wanders a bit through the timeline. What a tremendous gift you’re giving us! I have one piece of feedback and I couldn’t find a less public way to provide it — sorry in advance about that! In your super-speedy overview of the history of the early church you talk about Columba and his important role in promoting monasticism and scholarship. I wish you’d mentioned the desert fathers and mothers of Egypt as the origin point for monastic life. The church could use reminding that many of its greatest institutions and traditions originated outside Europe and its nearby islands.
