    171: Soul Sacrifice (PS Vita), Kamikaze Lassplanes (Nintendo Switch)

    ​"I got soul but I'm not a soldier... I got soul but I'm not a soldier..." ​Well, if your pod hosts wouldn't make great soldiers, perhaps they would make a superb sorcerer or a perfect pilot instead? Hopefully, we're about to find out... ​Firstly, Rich flexes his magical muscles in Soul Sacrifice (2013, PS Vita). It was touted as the handheld's 'killer app' when it launched, but as one of the few heavy hitters still trapped exclusively on the system, is it actually worth surrendering your time to? ​Fazz follows up with a review fly over of Kamikaze Lassplanes (2024, Nintendo Switch) - a crossover between an ecchi visual novel and a shmup where the overpowered aircraft you pilot are also female love interests.     Welcome to another edition of #FreeplayFortnightly where we both pick a video game that we want to play and keep it secret from our co-host. We then review each game on the podcast and ask our co-host to score the game out of 10 based on our review. Simple? You bet we are! The games we've picked out for random review this week are: • Uchusen: Ultimate Ploid Battle (2019, Evercade) • Untitled Goose Game (2019, PS4) It's a battle of 'U' titled games this week although ironically one is 'untitled'... First up, Rich dips into his Evercade 'Indie Heroes Collection' and chooses to discuss, erm, 'Uchusen: Ultimate Ploid Battle'. An 8 bit indie SHMUP designed as part of 1 day game jam, does it have enough about it to impress our resident SHMUP junkie?     166: World Cup Italia '90, Sensible Soccer, & Despelote... A FIFA World Cup 2026 Special!

    David Deckham... Hitler... Gary Wobbly Neville... Who are they and what do they all have in common? Thats right, they all make an appearance in this FIFA World Cup 2026 special from Living La Vita Loca podcast. Why? Well, Rich tries to play a single match in nearly every football-centric video game ever made. His review of this experience really is a spectacle befitting of the biggest sporting event in the world. Recovering quickly from this ordeal, we fall back into a more usual 4-4-2 formation and review some video games in a totally normal manner... We definitely do not accidentally 'sim' an entire world cup tournament in Sensible Soccer: European Champions (1992, SNES) We absolutely do not watch the ball teleport into the goalkeepers hands in World Cup Italia '90 (1990, Sega Mega Drive) And we certainly do not, somehow, make ourselves suffer travel sickness when playing through Despelote (2025, Xbox Series S) The lineup is set, the foosball table is sagging in the middle...     164: James Bond week! Tomorrow Never Dies (PS1), Everything or Nothing (NGC), Blood Stone (NDS)

    Elliot Carver: "Mr. Jones, are we ready to release our new PODCAST?" Mr Jones: "Yes, sir. As requested, it's full of bugs, which means people will be forced to LISTEN for years." Elliot Carver: "Outstanding." It's James Bond week on Living La Vita Loca podcast! As most gamers eagerly await the first home console 007 video game in 14 years, we're taking the opportunity to cycle through Bond's back catalogue... First (light) up, Tomorrow Never Dies (1999, PS1). Released two years after the movie hit the cinema, Fazz is left wondering why he spent so much time with this edition of Bond as a youngster and when will 'tomorrow' just freaking die already?!? Our next mission? A stand alone video game continuation of Pierce Brosnan's 007, Rich is giving it 'Everything or Nothing' (2004,)... it probably just depends on how much we can be arsed really... Finally, we flip open a bit of kit that feels like one of Q branch's inventions to play 'James Bond 007: Blood Stone' (2010, Nintendo DS) How does the handheld workhorse hold up under the weight another hackneyed Bond story? "Do you expect us to talk?" We most certainly will. Enjoy the pod.
