    Go Even When You Don't Feel Like It

    Lately I have been learning that doing the smallest version of something and showing up is still a success. I have been struggling with the voices in my head wanting me to sleep in, or telling me that if I’m not doing something perfectly that it isn’t worth doing it at all. But that simply isn’t the case. I almost didn't run this morning. I had every excuse lined up — the heat, my son was up half the night, "is one mile even worth it?" But I went anyway.     How I Got My First Duck (It Took Two Seasons)

    I wanted to get into duck hunting almost from the start. The problem was I didn't know a single person who duck hunted and middle Tennessee isn’t exactly known for it’s duck hunting. So late 2024 I did something that felt a little embarrassing… I posted on a local hunting Facebook group and asked strangers to take me. One guy responded. This episode covers the whole story cover my two seasons of trying to duck hunt, three hunts, and a lot of time where nothing went the way I planned. I got ghosted. I went solo in December when nobody would commit. And eventually, over a year later, I finally got my first duck on a drawn public land blind with a group of guys I'd never met before.     I Got a $100 Recurve Bow - Here's What I Think | Obert Original Black Hunter

    I got a $100 recurve bow from Amazon as my first step into traditional archery. After shooting compound for years, I've always been drawn to the simplicity of a recurve — no sights, no let off, just a stick and a string. I wasn't ready to drop hundreds just to find out if I'd like it, so I found the Obert Original Black Hunter and decided to give it a shot.Turns out, I can barely hit the target at 20 yards.     How I Hunted Differently This Season (And It Worked)

    Why I Keep Coming Back to Upland Bird Hunting

    I just went on my third pheasant hunt, and in this episode I'm sharing my experiences with upland bird hunting and what keeps bringing me back to it. I talk through my first pheasant hunt on public land, how I missed the social side of bird hunting after moving to Tennessee, and how upland hunting preserves became a great opportunity to experience pheasant and quail hunting where wild birds aren't available. What I love about upland hunting is the social aspect—it's a completely different pace from deer hunting. There's something special about watching well-trained dogs work, the camaraderie in the field, and the way it breaks up the hunting season with a different style of hunting altogether.
