A Local Told Me This Was the BEST Philly Cheesesteak… So I Went | Camden, NJ

Sometimes the best places aren't the ones you plan to visit — they're the ones the locals tell you about. While exploring Camden, New Jersey and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, I asked a simple question: Where should I go for a really good Philly cheesesteak? That question led me to Donkey's Place, an unassuming neighborhood institution in Camden that turned out to be exactly the kind of place I love discovering. I walked in expecting a cheesesteak. I walked out with a story. In this short, on-the-spot episode of The Pauline Chilton Show, you'll come along as I order my first Donkey's cheesesteak and strike up a conversation with some wonderful people I had just met. One of them, John, was approaching his 89th birthday and shared memories of eating cheesesteaks in South Philadelphia going all the way back to the 1950s. His stories about neighborhood dances, gathering over cheesesteaks, and the way people connected with complete strangers around a table turned a quick food stop into something much more memorable. And his review of Donkey's? He told me he'd "drive a thousand miles to eat a cheesesteak here." Then I discovered something I hadn't known when I decided to visit: Anthony Bourdain had been here too. Donkey's Place was featured in the New Jersey episode of Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown. Bourdain praised its distinctive Jersey-style cheesesteak, served with fried onions and American cheese on a round seeded roll. I didn't follow Anthony Bourdain to Donkey's. A local sent me there. And that's probably my favorite part of this story. I love visiting the places people who actually live in a community tell me I shouldn't miss—the neighborhood restaurants, small businesses, historic places and unexpected gems that don't always make it onto a carefully planned itinerary. Sometimes you just have to talk to people, ask questions and follow your curiosity. That's how I found Donkey's. And once again, it led me somewhere pretty special. This episode is part of my Camden, New Jersey & Philadelphia, Pennsylvania travel series, where I'm sharing some of the people, places, food, history and unexpected experiences I discovered along the way. If you enjoy discovering local gems and the stories behind the places we visit, subscribe to The Pauline Chilton Show and come along for the next stop. Lone Star Candle Supply Outlaw Collection Review | Blind Fragrance Reactions

What do Lone Star Candle Supply’s Outlaw Collection fragrance oils actually smell like? In this blind fragrance review, I’m opening the collection for the first time and sharing my completely unscripted reactions—without reading the scent descriptions or fragrance notes beforehand. In this episode of The Pauline Chilton Show, I smell and review five fragrances from the Lone Star Candle Supply Outlaw Collection: Desperado • Gunpowder • Open Range • Ranch Hand • Western Lace From smooth leather and woody fragrances to fresh greenery, florals and unexpected fruity notes, this collection gave me plenty of surprises. I share what I smell in each fragrance straight out of the bottle, how the scents compare, and which ones I think could work especially well in candles and other home fragrance products. As a candle maker, smelling a fragrance oil out of the bottle is only the beginning. I’m particularly interested in how these fragrances perform once they're actually made into candles—including their cold throw, hot throw and overall scent character in wax. And yes, there are several from this collection that I definitely want to test! I also talk about why candle makers should pay attention to each supplier's recommended product applications before using a fragrance oil in candles, soaps, personal care products, room sprays or diffusers. If you're a candle maker, fragrance lover, small business owner, or you're simply curious about Lone Star Candle Supply fragrance oils, come smell the Outlaw Collection with me! Which Outlaw fragrance would you like to see me make into a candle first? Let me know in the comments. How I Started My Handmade Candle Business (And What I Learned)

Have you ever wondered what it really takes to start a handmade candle business? In this episode of The Pauline Chilton Show, I'm sharing the story behind my candle-making journey—from experimenting with different waxes, wicks, fragrances, and containers to selling at local farmers markets and learning directly from customers. When I first started, I thought making candles would be as simple as melting wax and pouring it into a jar. I quickly discovered that creating a high-quality candle is both an art and a science. Months of testing taught me how important burn performance, fragrance throw, consistency, and safety are before ever putting my name on a product. In this episode, I talk about: ·       How I started making candles to help support The Pauline Chilton Show ·       The months of testing that went into creating a candle I'm proud to sell ·       What customers at farmers markets taught me about fragrance preferences ·       Why understanding your market matters in every business ·       How my background in real estate helped shape my approach to entrepreneurship ·       My vision for growing into retail stores and offering candle-pouring experiences More than anything, this is a story about learning, listening, and building a business with purpose. Every candle sold helps support the continued growth of The Pauline Chilton Show and our mission of encouraging wellness, healing, personal growth, and meaningful living. If you enjoy entrepreneurship, handmade products, small business, candle making, or hearing the real stories behind building a brand, I hope you'll join me on this journey. ·       If you know a boutique or retailer that would be a great fit for The Pauline Chilton Collection, I'd love to connect! ·       Like this video if you enjoyed it. ·       Leave a comment and let me know: What's one lesson you've learned while building something of your own? ·       Subscribe for more conversations about entrepreneurship, wellness, healing, and purposeful living. #CandleBusiness #SmallBusiness #Entrepreneurship #HandmadeCandles #CandleMaking #FarmersMarket #SmallBusinessJourney #ThePaulineChiltonShow #Wellness #MadeInFlorida Support the show Connect with Pauline See Me Live I'd love to meet you in person! Special Feature: Ikigai at 15th Street Farm with Alexis Baum

Sometimes the most meaningful conversations don't happen in a studio—they happen around a dinner table. I'm honored to share this special feature from an unforgettable evening at 15th Street Farm in St. Petersburg, Florida, where I was invited by Alexis Baum, host of AB Sees You, to participate in an Ikigai Dinner celebrating purpose, connection, and community. With Alexis's gracious permission, I'm excited to bring this special spinoff episode to The Pauline Chilton Show. The evening gathered an incredible group of people who care deeply about their local community. Over a meal prepared with fresh ingredients grown right at the farm, strangers became friends, stories were shared, and conversations centered around a simple but powerful question: What is your ikigai?—your reason for being. During the evening, I had the privilege of recording my own spontaneous interview with Randee Baum, where we talked about embracing spontaneity, finding joy in life's unexpected moments, and the beauty of bringing people together around good food and meaningful conversation. It was a reminder that purpose isn't always found in grand accomplishments. Sometimes it's found in showing up, listening, and sharing a table with people who genuinely care about making the world around them a little better. What made this evening especially meaningful to me wasn't just participating in the recording—it was experiencing a community built on kindness, curiosity, generosity, and connection. In a world that often feels rushed and disconnected, this dinner reminded me that healing begins with relationships, that every person has a story worth hearing, and that communities become stronger when we intentionally create spaces where people feel seen and valued. Thank you to Alexis Baum for the invitation, for creating AB Sees You, and for allowing me to share this beautiful experience with The Pauline Chilton Show audience. I hope this episode inspires you to seek out your own community, support local organizations doing meaningful work, and perhaps even gather around a table with people who leave you feeling a little more hopeful than when you arrived. Because sometimes purpose isn't something we discover alone. Sometimes we find it together. Support the show Connect with Pauline See Me Live I'd love to meet you in person! Lonestar Candle Supply Fragrance Review - Part 2

Part 2 of my Lone Star Candle Supply fragrance review is here! In this episode, I'm sharing my honest impressions of several fragrance oils, including Black Chamomile, Sunlit Citrus Blossom, French Market, Fruit Slices, Jasmine, Lavender, Cowboy, Inner Peace, and Eucalyptus Tea. As a candle maker, I don't just judge a fragrance by how it smells in the bottle. I also test it in wax to see how it performs with both cold throw and hot throw, because that's what really matters when you're creating high-quality candles. I'll also show you how these fragrances inspired some of my own candle creations, including Volcano Breeze, Lavender Fields, Peace & Petals, Everglades Ranger, and Eucalyptus & Chamomile, while sharing the stories behind each name and how they connect to Florida, wellness, and clean living. If you enjoy candle making, fragrance reviews, or learning about clean-burning candles made with wellness in mind, I hope you'll join me on this journey.
