This week on the podcast, we dive headfirst into some of the questions most Christians quietly think about but rarely say out loud. Is God’s grace still available to Satan? At what point does compassion become compromise? And why does modern culture seem determined to make truth negotiable? We also talk about spiritual warfare, unanswered prayers, hardship, weakness, surrender, and the strange human tendency to say we trust God while simultaneously trying to micromanage the universe ourselves. Somewhere in the middle, we question whether churches are entertaining people into spiritual sleep, and discuss why little white lies may not be as little as we pretend. It’s honest, uncomfortable, funny in places, and probably guaranteed to make at least somebody mad. Which honestly means it was worth doing. This week on Thinking Out Loud with Pastor-D, we celebrate Mother’s Day by discussing one of the wildest stories in the entire Bible — a prophetess, a hesitant warrior, a woman with a tent spike, and a guy who really should’ve been more suspicious of warm milk and hospitality. Why did Deborah have to lead when Barak wouldn’t? Why are strong women often admired and criticized at the same time? Why do so many mothers feel like they’re carrying entire families on their backs while grown men stand around like decorative throw pillows? Somewhere between the jokes, the sarcasm, and Pastor-D handing out stakes to women in church “for demonstration purposes,” the conversation turns serious: Have men become spiritually passive? Why do women often sense danger before everyone else? What does motherly courage actually look like in a family? And why does God so often choose overlooked people to confront darkness? This episode is funny, uncomfortable, honest, and surprisingly personal. Also…someone probably should’ve stopped Pastor-D before he started explaining how to properly use a tent stake. This week, we’re not exactly playing it safe. We'll explore whether turning the other cheek actually shows strength…or is it just getting walked on? Have Christians misunderstood this scripture for centuries?  We also wade into some light, totally non-controversial topics—like the Pope, politics, blasphemy, and why Jesus seems to call us to do the exact opposite of what feels natural. We also dig into what this looks like in real life: marriage, work, raising kids, dealing with difficult people, and figuring out where forgiveness ends and enabling begins (because yeah… that line can get blurry fast). Plus, we connect it all to one of the wildest stories in the Bible—Elisha feeding his enemies instead of fighting them—and ask the uncomfortable question: What if God sees our enemies completely differently than we do? If you’ve ever wondered: “Am I supposed to just take it?”“Where’s the line between grace and being a pushover?”“Can you be bold without being a jerk?”…then this one’s for you. Good morning and welcome to Thinking Out Loud with Pastor...Dave? Please join us as Pastor Dave sits in for Pastor D this week. What starts as a casual check-in—family, kids, SEC football, and old satellite TV—takes a hard turn into some uncomfortable territory: a president posing as Jesus, a Pride festival at the Dead Sea, and a soldier in trouble who made $400K betting on a mission he knew was coming… while Congress does the same thing and walks free. But somewhere between Harry Caray, insider trading, and Jelly Roll, the conversation shifts—what does it actually mean to be passionate about something that matters? Not loud. Not emotional. Not performative. Real. The kind of passion that pushes through a crowd… or keeps going when nothing seems to be working. And that’s where it gets personal. Is your faith real—or just routine? Does intent matter more than action? And if desperation is what drives people to God… do we really want it? We don't have ALL the answers, but we sure made the questions harder to ignore. There’s a version of Christianity that feels safe—polished, agreeable, and careful not to ruffle feathers. And then there’s the version we see in Scripture… the kind that gets people thrown in prison. Today, we’re talking about the difference. John the Baptist didn’t hedge his words. He didn’t soften truth to protect his reputation. He called things what they were—boldly, publicly, and without apology. And it cost him everything. So the question we’re asking is one most people don’t want to touch: what happened to that kind of conviction? Have we traded courage for comfort? Truth for approval? And if we haven’t…why are so many of us afraid to say what we actually believe? We’re going to get into all of it—why Christians are often seen as hypocrites, how far is too far when calling out darkness, and what it really means to take every thought captive in a culture that’s constantly trying to reshape what you think. And before we’re done, we’re going to wrestle with one uncomfortable idea: If John the Baptist showed up today… would we even be on his side? Let’s get into it. Terrifyingly Wonderful

Good morning and welcome to Thinking Out Loud with Pastor-D! What happens when an Easter message doesn’t stay “safe”…and instead turns into a full-on deep dive into snakes on fire, the terrifying side of Jesus, and the real weight of what happened on the cross? In this episode of Thinking Out Loud with Pastor-D, Joe and Pastor-D unpack a sermon that refuses to stay surface-level. From the mystery of when our sins were actually paid for, to what Jesus was doing in those three days before the resurrection, to the tension between God’s love and His wrath—nothing is off the table. They also tackle some tough, honest questions: Has our culture lost its fear of God? Why do we treat sin like it’s no big deal? And is it possible to sit in church, hear the truth, and still walk away unchanged? If you’ve ever wrestled with what Easter really means—or wondered if there’s more to the story than what you’ve always heard—this conversation will challenge you, stretch you, and maybe even shake you a little. So whether you’re all-in on faith, unsure about any of it, or just here for a good story—you’re invited into this conversation. This might be the one that changes everything. Terrifyingly Wonderful

In this episode of Thinking Out Loud with Pastor-D, we kick things off with a couple of things in the news recently and a follow-up conversation involving Donald Trump and Franklin Graham. From there, we transition into a powerful discussion centered around this week’s sermon. Pastor D walks us through Daniel 7:9–10 and the vivid picture of God’s throne—highlighting the overwhelming sense of awe, holiness, and reverence that comes with truly seeing God for who He is. We talk about whether we’ve become too casual with the word “holy,” and what it really means when Scripture describes God in such powerful, fear-invoking ways. Moving into Revelation, we explore John’s reaction to encountering Jesus—falling down as if dead—and compare that to real-life moments of experiencing God’s presence. This leads into a deeper conversation about reverence in prayer, physical posture, and why many believers today approach God so casually despite having full access to Him. We also wrestle with the balance between intimacy and reverence in our relationship with God, and how Scripture presents Jesus not only as Savior and friend, but also as King, judge, and conqueror. Finally, we discuss what it actually looks like to “be holy” in everyday life and whether this sermon series is meant to challenge and reshape our perception of Jesus into something far more powerful and awe-inspiring.
