    Psalm 102: Finding Hope In A World Of Change

    Change can be brutal. One day you feel steady, the next you’re dealing with loss, sickness, a job shift, or that quiet fear that life will never make sense again. Psalm 102 doesn’t dodge any of that. It gives us language for the nights you can’t sleep, the days that feel like smoke, and the loneliness that creeps in when you’re worn down and overwhelmed. I read through Psalm 102 and follow the psalmist’s movement from honest lament to durable hope.     Psalm 101: How To Lead Yourself First

    Drift is easy. Integrity is chosen. Psalm 101 is where David, early in his reign, puts his leadership principles on paper and it sounds less like a crown speech and more like a personal contract with God. I read the psalm aloud and slow it down so you can hear the repeated rhythm: what I will do, what I won’t do, and how those decisions shape a life that honors the Lord. We talk about self-leadership as the first leadership, the kind that happens in your own home and in your private habits. David refuses slander, pride, crooked dealing, deception, and anything “vile or vulgar,” and he intentionally chooses faithful people as close companions. That makes Psalm 101 a practical Bible study for Christian character and spiritual discipline, especially if you feel pulled by gossip, compromise, or the pressure to perform for others while neglecting your inner life.     Psalm 99: How To Get A Bigger View Of God

    When your life hits a problem you cannot fix, what happens next often reveals your real view of God. If we quietly think of the Lord as only a little stronger than we are, prayer starts to sound like a hopeful maybe instead of grounded trust. Psalm 99 does not let us stay there. We read it as a wake-up call to see God as King, holy and unmatched, worthy of reverence and confidence. We talk through how it is possible to cherish God’s nearness while still remembering his greatness. Psalm 99 paints a throne-room picture: nations tremble, the earth quakes, and God is exalted above every power and every name. We lean into what it means that God loves justice and establishes fairness, because a bigger view of God is not just about raw power. It is about holy power, righteous leadership, and a King whose character can be trusted. We also look at the psalm’s examples of Moses, Aaron, and Samuel, and why their humility matters for us today. If these pillars bowed low, we can too and we can pray differently because of it. We wrestle with the tension the psalm holds together: God forgives, and God also corrects when we go wrong.     Psalm 98: How To Have A Praise Break

    Some days you don’t need another request list, you need a reset. Psalm 98 gives us a simple, powerful pattern for that reset: stop and celebrate what God has already done. Pastor Brandon unpacks what a “praise break” means in real life, from the classic “let the band play” moment in church to the quiet kind of worship that shows up as tears, gratitude, and a heart that finally exhales.     Psalm 97: How To Do A Jesus Flex

    Fear loves to talk like it’s in charge. Psalm 97 talks back. We read this psalm with the volume turned up and let it reframe everything: “The Lord is king. Let the earth rejoice.” The images are thunderous on purpose, clouds, fire, lightning, mountains melting like wax, because worship is sometimes the most practical way to regain perspective. When God is the King, your problems stop being the center of the story. We also connect Psalm 97 to one of the boldest moments in the Old Testament: Elijah facing the prophets of Baal and daring them to see whose god can answer by fire. That’s the heartbeat behind what I call a “Jesus flex” not pride, not trash talk, but confident praise that refuses to bow to modern idols, spiritual pressure, or the lies of the enemy. Psalm 97 is clear: idols disgrace their worshipers, but the Lord is supreme over all the earth, and He protects and rescues His people. Then we bring it down to street level with a memory from church life: older believers who had been through enough storms that nothing rattled them anymore.     Psalm 96: How To Celebrate With God

    A lot of us know how to pray when life hurts. We know how to ask, plead, and hold on through grief, stress, and uncertainty. But what happens when God gives you a moment to breathe and you realize you forgot how to celebrate? Psalm 96 is that kind of wake-up call, and we use it to talk about worship that is often and loud, not performative, not polished, just honest joy in the presence of God.  We start with a story about a coach who trained a struggling team to lose well, only to discover they didn’t know what to do when they finally won. That moment hits closer to home than we expect. Many believers get so used to endurance mode that gratitude feels unfamiliar.     Psalm 95: How To Learn From The Mistakes Of Others

    Seeing God work doesn’t automatically make trusting God easy. Psalm 95 opens with bold worship, then pivots to a warning that still stings: don’t harden your heart the way Israel did at Meribah and Massah. I walk through why that turn matters, and how praise and obedience are connected in a practical, everyday way. We read Psalm 95 together and talk about what it looks like to learn from the mistakes of others instead of repeating the same patterns ourselves. Israel witnessed miracles in the Exodus, yet still complained and questioned God’s care. That contrast raises an honest question for our own spiritual growth: how can we experience God’s goodness and still doubt His trustworthiness when a new problem shows up? I also share a simple way to turn this psalm into a daily prayer: ask God to help you remember the former days, stay teachable, and course correct quickly when you drift.
