Episode 2: Let's start a cultural shift in the relationship we have with our mortality by modernizing the ethical will for younger generations

The first step in shifting our culture starts with ourselves. We need to lead our best lives. We need to document and share who we are and what we value…essentially what we want our legacy to be…so that we can lead that best life, knowing we are mortal and could say goodbye at any time. Without having an ongoing relationship with our own mortality, no matter what age we are at, we may lose the opportunity to share what's most important to us. This episode introduces the concept of an Ethical Will, where it came from and how we should modernize it for everyone to use (without the pretense of religion). The modernized version, a THIS IS WHO I AM document, is presented by Illume Lifeworks and this show includes a preliminary list of what to include, starting with identifying your core values. Episode 1: The Avoidance-Crisis relationship we have with death. Let's change it!

In Western culture, and more specifically in American culture, we have evolved to have an unhealthy relationship with how we process the transition into death.  We have found ourselves in a two stage process in dealing with death: Avoidance and Crisis When we are unprepared, dealing with our end of life or grief is heavier and harder than it needs to be. Let’s shift our relationship and open up the conversation to live a better life and own our legacy. The new generations … Millennials, Gen X, Gen Y, Gen Z … Are instrumental in making this cultural shift and invited to join this conversation.
