We're two guys who have been involved in church ministries, missions, evangelism, and now public education. Our conversations focus on Christian doctrine for the everyman. Being "part-time" theologians ourselves, we want to explore the depth of orthodoxy while at the same time making truth accessible for any and everyone.

    The Sacraments - Communion

In this episode Danny and I discuss Communion (or The Eucharist or The Lord's Supper). We discuss the elements, where in scripture we find the sacrament (or ordinance), and what it means to celebrate Communion. We find that this holy ceremony is a call to unity with Christ AND with the Church. In our study on this topic, we found Francis Chan's views on Communion to be especially helpful. Ecclesiology - Sacraments (Ordinances?)

In the first episode of 2024, we continue our conversation on Ecclesiology. We consider the issue of the sacraments (or ordinances, depending on your tradition). What are the sacraments, are they truly sacred practices, and how do they connect us to the divine?

    Advent, Love

Merry Christmas Eve! Today is the last day of Advent, tomorrow is Christmas Day! In this episode, we discuss the theme of love. How do we know what love is? What do we do with love? We look at John 3:16, Romans 5:8, and 1 John 4:10 and discuss the role of love in our lives. Thank you for joining us on our journey through Advent.

    Advent - Joy

In Philippians 4:4 Paul encourages Christians to rejoice. In fact, he believes it so strongly he says it twice. How can we experience joy even in dark circumstances? How do we rejoice regardless of what is going on around us? In this episode, we explore Philippians 4, the story of Job, and Hebrews 11 as we discuss how to find joy in faith.

    Advent - Peace

This week's episode is all about peace. If Jesus is considered the Prince of Peace, what does that mean for us? Does it mean we will never experience pain or conflict? Will things always be calm in our lives? If they aren't calm, does that mean we've messed up somehow? Explore and meditate with us on what it means for Jesus to be peace even in the midst of the storm.

    Advent - Hope

Welcome to Advent, the season leading up to Christmas. Advent comes from the Latin Adventus, meaning "arrival" or "coming." Traditionally, the season was one of waiting and longing expectantly for the coming Messiah. It is commemorated in songs like "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel" and "Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus." The season reminds us of the expectancy of Jesus' incarnation and comforts us as we look forward to his triumphant return! Advent spans the four Sundays leading up to Christmas Day. The theme of week 1 is Hope.

    Ecclesiology, Reformation - Denominations

In this episode, Danny and I trace denominations from the Reformation into the modern day. We use a graphic to show the descent of denominations and influential people who were involved in those traditions. http://protestantism.co.uk/denominations

    Ecclesiology, The Reformation

Happy Reformation Day! In this episode, we continue our conversation on Church history by talking about the Reformation. We start by considering the origins of the Reformation with John Wycliffe and Jan Hus, then spend the majority of time considering Martin Luther's (in)famous act of nailing his 95 theses to the door of the Wittenberg church.
