THE SIN WE'RE ALL GOOD AT HIDING

Is comparison always a bad thing? Maybe not. Sometimes looking at someone else’s life can inspire us. It can show us what’s possible, motivate us to grow, or reveal something we genuinely want to pursue. But when does “I want what they have” become “I resent that they have it”? And maybe even harder… Can we actually celebrate someone else’s blessing when secretly wishing it was ours? In this episode of Between Sundays, we’re talking about envy, comparison, jealousy, consumerism, and the subtle ways they can creep into our lives—especially in a culture where we’re constantly being shown everyone else’s highlight reel. We get into: • When healthy comparison becomes unhealthy envy• The difference between envy and comparison• Why someone else’s success can make us question what God has given us• How social media fuels comparison and dissatisfaction• Whether envy can ever actually motivate us in a healthy way• What Scripture says about measuring ourselves against other people• Why contentment doesn’t mean we stop having ambition• And the brutally honest question: Can you genuinely celebrate someone else’s blessing without secretly wishing it were yours? Because maybe the problem isn’t that we notice what someone else has. Maybe the problem is what happens inside of us after we notice it. So… are you being inspired by someone else’s life? Or are you becoming resentful that it’s not yours? Let’s talk about it. We Normalized Sex, Porn & AI Intimacy… So What Happened to Us?

When did we stop being shocked? Porn is everywhere. Sex work has become content. People can be marketed, bought, and consumed online. AI is now offering “relationships” without rejection, conflict, or vulnerability. And somewhere along the way, things that once would have horrified us have become completely normal. But what happens when intimacy becomes a product? In this episode of Between Sundays, we’re having an honest—and uncomfortable—conversation about what our culture has normalized, how we got here, and what it’s doing to the way we understand sex, relationships, and even other human beings. We talk about: • The normalization of pornography among teenagers• How sex work went from taboo to celebrated and consumed• What it means when people themselves become products• How we can have better, more honest conversations with our sons and daughters about sex• And what it looks like for Christians to engage this conversation without shame, fear, or pretending the culture doesn’t exist This isn’t about clutching our pearls and yelling at the culture. It’s about asking a much harder question: What have we normalized that is quietly shaping us? Because just because something is common doesn’t mean it’s healthy. IS TOO MUCH EMPATHY CAUSING US TO ACCEPT EVIL?

Is empathy always a good thing? We usually hear that we need more empathy—but what if there’s a difference between feeling someone’s pain and actually helping them through it?In this episode of Between Sundays, we’re digging into a fascinating tension between psychology and Scripture: Can taking on someone else’s pain actually make us less helpful? Is there a difference between empathy, compassion, and personal distress?Does the Bible tell us to enter into someone’s pain—or help carry them through it?Can too much emotional empathy leave us overwhelmed or controlled by someone else’s emotions? Why does Jesus show incredible compassion without allowing other people’s emotions to control His actions? And if psychology tells us not to absorb another person’s suffering, how do we reconcile that with Scripture telling us to “weep with those who weep” and “bear one another’s burdens”?Maybe the goal isn’t to feel everything someone else feels.Maybe it’s to care deeply enough to help without losing yourself in their pain. We’re putting psychology, empathy, compassion, and biblical Christianity head-to-head and asking whether the Christian response to suffering is emotional identification—or something deeper.Send us a question, thought, or feedback:🌐 bs-podcast.comConnect with us:🎵 TikTok: Between Sundays Podcast📸 Instagram: @bsundayspodcast👥 Facebook: BS POD SQUAD#BetweenSundays #ChristianPodcast #Empathy #Compassion #Christianity #Psychology #BiblicalTruth #Jesus #MentalHealth #Faith #ChristianLiving

HOT BUTTON: "HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD" And "SUBMISSIVE WIVES"

“The husband is the head of the wife…” — but what does that actually mean?Does being the “head of the household” mean a husband gets the final say? Does biblical leadership give a man more authority—or more responsibility? And what happens when a husband and wife genuinely cannot agree? We like to say we are "Pendulum swing fighters" on this podcast, and honestly- the pendulum has swung too far on both sides and it's divided men and women more than ever.In this episode of Between Sundays, we’re having the hard conversation about biblical headship, authority, sacrifice, submission, and what it actually looks like to lead like Jesus. We’re digging into passages like Ephesians 5:23–25 and 1 Corinthians 11:3 and asking some uncomfortable questions: What does “head” actually mean in Scripture? Can “I’m the head” ever be used as an excuse for control? If Jesus is the model for a husband’s leadership, what did Jesus actually do with His authority?Does biblical headship mean more power—or more responsibility and sacrifice? This isn’t about men vs. women. It’s about what Scripture actually says—and what happens when we take Jesus’ example seriously.Send us a question, thought, or feedback:🌐 bs-podcast.comConnect with us:🎵 TikTok: Between Sundays Podcast📸 Instagram: @bsundayspodcast👥 Facebook: BS POD SQUAD#BetweenSundays #BiblicalHeadship #ChristianMarriage #ChristianPodcast #Marriage #Jesus #BiblicalMarriage #Christianity

"AM I SUPPOSED TO JUST KEEP GIVING LOVE WITHOUT RECEIVING IT?"

Does loving like Jesus mean you have to tolerate everything? We're answering one of our listener's questions today, but it was a hard one for us because we can go so many different directions with love, and what it means as Christians to really listen and apply what Jesus taught:“Turn the other cheek.”“Love your enemies.”“Forgive.”“Don’t repay evil for evil.”But where does wisdom, boundaries, and self-respect fit into all of this?In this episode of Between Sundays, we’re having the uncomfortable conversation about what Christian love actually looks like when someone hurts you, mistreats you, or repeatedly crosses a line.Because maybe turning the other cheek was never meant to mean turning off your brain. We’re talking about: Is forgiveness the same thing as reconciliation? Can you love someone while still saying, “You don’t get access to me anymore”?And what happens when we desperately want to be loved by others—but don’t feel like we’ve received that kind of love ourselves?Scripture doesn’t call us to revenge—but it also doesn’t call us to abandon wisdom.“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” — Romans 12:21This one might challenge the way you’ve always understood Christian love.
