Patti Smith: Art Without Apology

What makes someone's creative work artistic? What do you need to be an artist? And the biggest question of all is how do we define art? In this episode, inspired by Patti Smith, we're talking about what makes a true artist. It is not about skill, training or -God forbid- pleasing an audience. It is about showing up, having a so-called offensive confidence and making something real. If you've ever doubted yourself or felt like you weren't good enough to create, this one's for you. Let's talk about why your art matters.

The Truth Isn’t Always Beautiful—But It Lasts

We crave beauty—in people, in desires, in the way we want life to unfold. But what happens when the truth isn’t as beautiful as we’d hoped? In this episode, we explore Lao Tzu’s words: “The truth is not always beautiful, nor beautiful words the truth.” Why is honesty, especially with ourselves, so difficult? Why do we cling to illusions, even when they lead us astray? And most importantly—what happens when we finally choose integrity over comfort? Let’s explore this together.

The Floating Soul: The Inconceivable That Keeps Us Going

Have you ever asked yourself, "What’s the point of it all?" When you’re pushing through, but the days still feel overwhelming so you’re unsure how to keep going? When everything seems too much, and you can’t see how to keep going, no matter how hard you try? In this episode, we dive into Ibn Sina’s thought experiment, The Floating Soul. It is a reminder that what we can conceive isn’t all there is. Even when it feels like the weight of life is too much to bear, there is something deeper within us, something beyond logic, beyond the tangible, yet it’s the very thing carrying us forward. That something is the soul. Let’s talk about what keeps us moving, even when we feel like we can’t.

Self Love is Not The Answer

I’m lying, of course! But I did grab your attention with that title, didn’t I? With this episode, I talked my little heart out by overanalyzing the current state of the self-love conversation, and how mainstream media has warped our perception of the intrapersonal relationship with have with ourselves. Here’s a Dostoevsky quote I feel encompasses this episode well (and to make me sound more well-read than I truly am) : "You sensed that you should be following a different path, a more ambitious one, you felt that you were destined for other things but you had no idea how to achieve them and in your misery, you began to hate everything around you." — Fyodor Dostoyevsky.

Nostalgia: The Bitter and The Sweet

There’s nothing like putting on that one song that takes you back to a time long gone or eating a food you used to love as a kid to transport you back to your childhood home. What is more alluring than visiting the past by romanticizing bygone eras? It’s the reminiscence and melancholy that fuels writers and creatives everywhere. Today we talk about nostalgia.
