    Joey and Nancy kicked off the Friday before Tennessee football season with plenty of Vols talk, including visits from Mike Keith and Brian Rice, plus chances to win Tennessee football tickets, Tucker Wetmore tickets, and rodeo passes.  Nancy shared the latest update on her massive raised-bed garden project, which already includes $600 worth of garden beds, 7,000 pounds of rock, and plans for tomatoes, potatoes, onions, carrots, corn, beans, zucchini, and okra. Joey joked she’s building her own mini Biltmore.  A young listener named Ryker won Tucker Wetmore tickets after being the first caller to hear the “Tuck, Tuck, Goose” sound effect.  Nancy vented about a funeral she recently attended after a man who never met her uncle delivered a 45-minute eulogy full of incorrect details. That led to Nancy outlining her own funeral wishes, including bright pink clothing, a short service, cremation mixed with pink glitter, and speeches only from people who actually knew her.  The show welcomed Yoshi from Tokyo, Japan, owner of the Good Ol’ Tennessee Bar and president of the Tokyo UT Alumni chapter. Yoshi traveled to Knoxville for the Furman game and fulfilled a lifelong broadcasting dream by helping host Lucky 7.  Hot Tea: More than 20 farms across North America created Dolly Parton-themed corn mazes celebrating the Imagination Library. Alan Jackson’s final Nashville concert reportedly became the highest-grossing single concert ever with more than $30 million in revenue. A DoorDash driver in Houston was fired after allegedly delivering food completely naked.  Rocky Top Roulette gave away Tennessee football tickets by having callers eliminate one another until Lacey was the last fan standing and won tickets to the Vols’ opener against Furman.  Lucky 7 featured Yoshi reading the questions for $50 to Farmacy  Joey was shocked when his Paxlovid prescription showed a price of $1,850 before insurance dropped it to $0, which sparked a conversation about the wild cost of prescription medications. A pharmacist called in and said she's seen patients pay nearly that much for Paxlovid, while listeners shared stories of cancer drugs costing $800 a pill, Trulicity running $3,000 a month, and Skyrizi injections topping $22,000 each.  Mike Keith returned for “One Minute with Mike Keith” and revealed that the most trouble he ever got into came after a prank phone call in high school that unintentionally upset a woman who thought she had won nearly $1,000.  Nancy continued rallying support for her rodeo appearance at the CASA Rodeo and gave away seats in the “Nancy Nation” cheering section.     Joey shared an epiphany after visiting the new Kenjo on Northshore. He decided almost anything feels better when it's brand new, whether it's a gas station, hotel, or restaurant.  A listener won Tucker Wetmore tickets during a new game called "Tuck Tuck Goose" by calling in after hearing a goose honk on the air.  Joey's son asked what a redneck is after hearing Jeff Foxworthy. Joey eventually used Karly's dad as the perfect example, which Nancy agreed was pretty accurate.  Hot Tea: A fan was upset after Tim McGraw's team reposted her video without credit, Tiger Woods can still drive a golf cart despite a driving ban, and Pabst Blue Ribbon is offering a reward after two truckloads of beer were stolen.  Nancy almost put her foot in her mouth while buying 22 railroad ties. She assumed a store manager was about to question her equipment, but he was actually trying to warn her the ties were in bad shape. Listeners shared things customers do that drive them crazy, including people calling to schedule appointments without checking their calendars, blaming hotels for bad weather, and asking UPS drivers what's inside their packages.  Lucky 7 for $50 to Farmacy  Joey and Nancy listened to country artists' laughs and tried to guess who the laughs belonged to.  The Casa Rodeo contest continued with listeners doing Nancy impressions for tickets. Cole won by simply laughing.  One of the most touching moments of the show came when 14-year-old Jameson called to thank his mom, Denise, for everything she's done while she battles serious heart problems.     Joey came back after testing positive for COVID and shared the evolution of his voice over the past few days. Karly had him say “That’s how it feels to drive a Ford F-150.”  The show celebrated another CMA Radio Personality of the Year nomination. Joey was excited to tell his wife himself, but his twin brother Jesse accidentally spoiled the news first by texting the family group chat.  Joey revealed several Tucker Wetmore contest names that never made the air, including “Luck of the Tuck,” “Tuck and Roll,” and a Mother Tucker-themed idea. The winner was the very simple game “Tuck Tuck Goose,” where listeners had to call after hearing a goose sound effect.  A caller named Ken won Tucker Wetmore tickets, Tennessee Valley Fair admission, and free parking after being the first person to call during Tuck Tuck Goose.  Joey bragged on his son for earning a school award after publicly thanking his teacher for helping students become better writers.   Hot Tea: Fans accused Chris Young of being drunk during a recent performance, but Nancy thought it sounded more like a technical issue with his in-ear monitors. Bad Wolves guitarist Doc Coyle quit the band over the release of a Dolly Parton-approved version of “Jolene.” Luke Bryan also fired back at online critics who mocked his songwriting.  Nancy talked about getting a second chance at barrel racing in the Casa Rodeo after taking heat from “mean horse girls” online last year. She shared some of the brutal comments she received and promised she’s been training for this year’s event.  The show highlighted several local tributes to Dolly Parton, including the upcoming Knoxville parade, Tennessee lawmakers pledging support for Imagination Library funding, UT’s helmet decal honoring Dolly, and plans for DollyFest celebrations.  Lucky 7 for $50 to Farmacy   Nancy shared an unbelievable family discovery from her uncle’s funeral. A man stole a car, tried to run from the cops, but ended up driving to the jail.  A lady accused Nancy of cheating her a dollar on a Facebook Marketplace purchase Is Gen Z the "Christopher Columbus" generation? Hot Tea: Post Malone proposed to his girlfriend with a 20-karat diamond ring and a cow. Dolly was laid to rest beside her husband Carl Dean over the weekend, Abeer company is asking for help finding its stolen truck. Nancy has to work the concession stand for her son's football games, and it is way too complicated.  A lady on a cruise ship was caught scratching her foot fungus with a fork in the dining area.  Lucky 7 for $50 to Farmacy The show watched a viral clip of two Detroit TV anchors arguing off-camera and compared it to one of their own awkward radio moments.     Joey and Nancy talked about how emotionally draining the week has been, with Nancy admitting she took a two-hour nap and nearly missed school pickup.  Joey is second-guessing a church hike in the Smokies after learning someone recently saw a black bear just 15 feet away on the trail.   Karly was disappointed she slept through a lunar eclipse after turning off her alarm and ignoring her mom’s attempts to wake her up.  The show joked about pumpkin spice latte season arriving in August, while also talking about trendy drinks like matcha, chai, and hazelnut lattes.  Joey and Nancy were amazed by the long list of projects Dolly Parton was still working on, including her Broadway musical, Songteller Hotel, coffee line, dolls, documentaries, and several TV projects.  A discussion about a Georgia man finding $30 at Walmart turned into a debate about whether keeping money found on the ground counts as stealing.  Hot Tea: CNN accidentally used a photo of a Dolly impersonator during coverage of Dolly’s death. Tropical Storm Dolly is forming in the Atlantic, and its name is a total coincidence to Dolly's passing. A man was arrested after parking a truck carrying a 10-foot guillotine near the U.S. Capitol.  Joey realized his son wasn’t embarrassed by a goodbye hug. He was embarrassed because Joey had made him sit through a public heart-to-heart conversation outside school first. The principal at Joey’s son’s school called in to support dads openly telling their kids they love them.  The show highlighted Dolly tributes happening across the country. Regal Cinemas is showing Dolly classics as a fundraiser for the Imagination Library.   Lucky 7 for $50to the Copper Cellar Family of Restaurants   Nancy got a massage and accidentally drooled on her masseuse’s bare big toe.   The most touching moment came from a tribute by Dolly’s sister Stella, who shared that she and Dolly had coffee together by phone every Tuesday morning and that Dolly was willing to try experimental treatments if they could help others in the future.  Comedian Trish Suhr joined the show to promote her Sunday night Bijou Theatre appearance and talked about returning home to East Tennessee and her friendship with Leanne Morgan.  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

    Joey and Nancy talked about how hard Dolly Parton’s passing still feels because she was so active and present right up until the end. Nancy had a funny dream last night where Papa Joe used his one question with Dolly to ask if she’d ever used a pink porta potty.  Joey shared a school project where his younger son said his favorite body part was his legs because they help him run fast and remind him of his dad.  Hot Tea: Leanne Morgan appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and talked about raising her kids at Dollywood and Dolly’s impact on East Tennessee. The unreleased Dolly song stored in a DreamMore time capsule will remain sealed until 2045. Hersheypark apologized after a social media comment comparing itself to Dollywood upset fans.  Joey admitted he got emotional after taking his almost-13-year-old son to school and realizing middle schoolers aren’t exactly big on hugs anymore.  The show highlighted Dolly’s generosity, including the Buddy Program that boosted Sevier County graduation rates, Dollywood’s education benefits, and the hundreds of millions of books distributed through Imagination Library.  Lucky 7 was all Dolly trivia for $50 to the Copper Cellar Family of Restaurants  Joey and Nancy spent part of the morning laughing through some of Dolly’s funniest interview clips, including stories about losing a Dolly look-alike contest to drag queens and her legendary one-liners.  Nancy shared a church story about a woman who first thought she was her grandson’s mother, then quickly changed her opinion and decided Nancy was too old to be having a baby.  The show wrapped up by talking about efforts to honor Dolly’s legacy, including a proposed Dolly Parton Day in Tennessee, renaming Nashville’s airport after her, and other ideas to keep her memory alive.  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
