    Everybody Knows This Sergeant-Major

    Capt (Retired) and former Brigade Sergeant-Major Rob Wishnicki takes us back through over 35 years of his career, looking back at some key moments and lessons. Long list of jargon: PPCLI - Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry.  One of Canada's Regular Force infantry Regiments. Op Harmony - Operation Harmony was the Canadian peacekeeping mission to the former Yugoslavia. LFWA - Land Force Western Area.  The Army formation for all of the Canadian Provinces Manitoba and west. 1RCHA - 1st Regiment, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery.  One of Canada's Regular Force Artillery Regiments.  No, they don't have horses anymore. "Number One" - The commander of the howitzer or gun detachment. Ack IG - Assistant Instructor-in-Gunnery RSM - Regimental Sergeant-Major.  The most senior non-commissioned member in a regiment or unit. BSM - Battery Sergeant-Major.  The most senior non-commissioned member in an artillery battery or sub-unit. Aiming Posts - before the days of advanced optics, two painted stakes would be placed equidistant from a howitzer sight and parallelism used to aim the gun. RIP - Relief In Place.  Roto - Rotation ANA - Afghan National Army Chalk - Typically a group of soldiers on a single airplane.     When The Old Boss Didn't Anticipate

    I talk to a past civilian boss of mine, Trent Punnett, and look back at a big struggle he had "back in the day".  We also touch on dealing with difficult team members.     The Guy Who Has Done-It-All... With a Smile

    Lieutenant-Colonel (Retired) Leon Jenson has done it all.  He's been a young, basic Private just struggling to adapt to the military.  He's been the most senior non-commissioned member of a unit.  Then he went on to lead the entire unit as Commanding Officer before going on to go really big things in Ottawa.  Let's see what we can learn from Leon! We look back at careers being responsible for other human beings and some of the worst of those times.
